2 Kings 8

왕하8:1 엘리사가 이전에 아들을 다시 살려 준 여인에게 이르되 너는 일어나서 네 가족과 함께 거주할 만한 곳으로 가서 거주하라 여호와께서 기근을 부르셨으니 그대로 이 땅에 칠 년 동안 임하리라 하니

Now Elisha had said to the woman whose son he had restored to life, "Go away with your family and stay for a while wherever you can, because the LORD has decreed a famine in the land that will last seven years."

왕하8:2 여인이 일어나서 하나님의 사람의 말대로 행하여 그의 가족과 함께 가서 블레셋 사람들의 땅에 칠 년을 우거하다가

The woman proceeded to do as the man of God said. She and her family went away and stayed in the land of the Philistines seven years.

왕하8:3 칠 년이 다하매 여인이 블레셋 사람들의 땅에서 돌아와 자기 집과 전토를 위하여 호소하려 하여 왕에게 나아갔더라

At the end of the seven years she came back from the land of the Philistines and went to the king to beg for her house and land.

왕하8:4 그 때에 왕이 하나님의 사람의 사환 게하시와 서로 말하며 이르되 너는 엘리사가 행한 모든 큰 일을 내게 설명하라 하니

The king was talking to Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, and had said, "Tell me about all the great things Elisha has done."

왕하8:5 게하시가 곧 엘리사가 죽은 자를 다시 살린 일을 왕에게 이야기할 때에 그 다시 살린 아이의 어머니가 자기 집과 전토를 위하여 왕에게 호소하는지라 게하시가 이르되 내 주 왕이여 이는 그 여인이요 저는 그의 아들이니 곧 엘리사가 다시 살린 자니이다 하니라

Just as Gehazi was telling the king how Elisha had restored the dead to life, the woman whose son Elisha had brought back to life came to beg the king for her house and land. Gehazi said, "This is the woman, my lord the king, and this is her son whom Elisha restored to life."

왕하8:6 왕이 그 여인에게 물으매 여인이 설명한지라 왕이 그를 위하여 한 관리를 임명하여 이르되 이 여인에게 속한 모든 것과 이 땅에서 떠날 때부터 이제까지 그의 밭의 소출을 다 돌려 주라 하였더라

The king asked the woman about it, and she told him. Then he assigned an official to her case and said to him, "Give back everything that belonged to her, including all the income from her land from the day she left the country until now."

왕하8:7 엘리사가 다메섹에 갔을 때에 아람 왕 벤하닷이 병들었더니 왕에게 들리기를 이르되 하나님의 사람이 여기 이르렀나이다 하니

Elisha went to Damascus, and Ben-Hadad king of Aram was ill. When the king was told, "The man of God has come all the way up here,"

왕하8:8 왕이 하사엘에게 이르되 너는 손에 예물을 가지고 가서 하나님의 사람을 맞이하고 내가 이 병에서 살아나겠는지 그를 통하여 여호와께 물으라

he said to Hazael, "Take a gift with you and go to meet the man of God. Consult the LORD through him; ask him, 'Will I recover from this illness?'"

왕하8:9 하사엘이 그를 맞이하러 갈새 다메섹의 모든 좋은 물품으로 예물을 삼아 가지고 낙타 사십 마리에 싣고 나아가서 그의 앞에 서서 이르되 당신의 아들 아람 왕 벤하닷이 나를 당신에게 보내 이르되 나의 이 병이 낫겠나이까 하더이다 하니

Hazael went to meet Elisha, taking with him as a gift forty camel-loads of all the finest wares of Damascus. He went in and stood before him, and said, "Your son Ben-Hadad king of Aram has sent me to ask, 'Will I recover from this illness?'"

왕하8:10 엘리사가 이르되 너는 가서 그에게 말하기를 왕이 반드시 나으리라 하라 그러나 여호와께서 그가 반드시 죽으리라고 내게 알게 하셨느니라 하고

Elisha answered, "Go and say to him, 'You will certainly recover'; but the LORD has revealed to me that he will in fact die."

왕하8:11 하나님의 사람이 그가 부끄러워하기까지 그의 얼굴을 쏘아보다가 우니

He stared at him with a fixed gaze until Hazael felt ashamed. Then the man of God began to weep.

왕하8:12 하사엘이 이르되 내 주여 어찌하여 우시나이까 하는지라 대답하되 네가 이스라엘 자손에게 행할 모든 악을 내가 앎이라 네가 그들의 성에 불을 지르며 장정을 칼로 죽이며 어린 아이를 메치며 아이 밴 부녀를 가르리라 하니

"Why is my lord weeping?" asked Hazael. "Because I know the harm you will do to the Israelites," he answered. "You will set fire to their fortified places, kill their young men with the sword, dash their little children to the ground, and rip open their pregnant women."

왕하8:13 하사엘이 이르되 당신의 개 같은 종이 무엇이기에 이런 큰일을 행하오리이까 하더라 엘리사가 대답하되 여호와께서 네가 아람 왕이 될 것을 내게 알게 하셨느니라 하더라

Hazael said, "How could your servant, a mere dog, accomplish such a feat?" "The LORD has shown me that you will become king of Aram," answered Elisha.

왕하8:14 그가 엘리사를 떠나가서 그의 주인에게 나아가서 왕이 그에게 묻되 엘리사가 네게 무슨 말을 하더냐 하니 대답하되 그가 내게 이르기를 왕이 반드시 살아나시리이다 하더이다 하더라

Then Hazael left Elisha and returned to his master. When Ben-Hadad asked, "What did Elisha say to you?" Hazael replied, "He told me that you would certainly recover."

왕하8:15 그 이튿날에 하사엘이 이불을 물에 적시어 왕의 얼굴에 덮으매 왕이 죽은지라 그가 대신하여 왕이 되리라

But the next day he took a thick cloth, soaked it in water and spread it over the king's face, so that he died. Then Hazael succeeded him as king.

왕하8:16 이스라엘의 왕 아합의 아들 요람 제오년에 여호사밧이 유다의 왕이었을 때에 유다의 왕 여호사밧의 아들 여호람이 왕이 되니라

In the fifth year of Joram son of Ahab king of Israel, when Jehoshaphat was king of Judah, Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat began his reign as king of Judah.

왕하8:17 여호람이 왕이 될 때에 나이가 삼십이 세라 예루살렘에서 팔 년 동안 통치하니라

He was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years.

왕하8:18 그가 이스라엘 왕들의 길을 가서 아합의 집과 같이 하였으니 이는 아합의 딸이 그의 아내가 되었음이라 그가 여호와 보시기에 악을 행하였으나

He walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done, for he married a daughter of Ahab. He did evil in the eyes of the LORD.

왕하8:19 여호와께서 그의 종 다윗을 위하여 유다 멸하기를 즐겨하지 아니하셨으니 이는 그와 그의 자손에게 항상 등불을 주겠다고 말씀하셨음이더라

Nevertheless, for the sake of his servant David, the LORD was not willing to destroy Judah. He had promised to maintain a lamp for David and his descendants forever.

왕하8:20 여호람 때에 에돔이 유다의 손에서 배반하여 자기 위에 왕을 세운 고로

In the time of Jehoram, Edom rebelled against Judah and set up its own king.

왕하8:21 여호람이 모든 병거를 거느리고 사일로 갔더니 밤에 일어나 자기를 에워싼 에돔 사람과 그 병거의 장관들을 치니 이에 백성이 도망하여 각각 그들의 장막들로 돌아갔더라

So Jehoram went to Zair with all his chariots. The Edomites surrounded him and his chariot commanders, but he rose up and broke through by night; his army, however, fled back home.

왕하8:22 이와 같이 에돔이 유다의 수하에서 배반하였더니 오늘까지 그러하였으며 그 때에 립나도 배반하였더라

To this day Edom has been in rebellion against Judah. Libnah revolted at the same time.

왕하8:23 여호람의 남은 사적과 그가 행한 모든 일은 유다 왕 역대지략에 기록되지 아니하였느냐

As for the other events of Jehoram's reign, and all he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah?

왕하8:24 여호람이 그의 조상들과 함께 자매 그의 조상들과 함께 다윗 성에 장사되고 그의 아들 아하시야가 대신하여 왕이 되리라

Jehoram rested with his fathers and was buried with them in the City of David. And Ahaziah his son succeeded him as king.

왕하8:25 이스라엘의 왕 아합의 아들 요람 제십이년에 유다 왕 여호람의 아들 아하시야가 왕이 되니

In the twelfth year of Joram son of Ahab king of Israel, Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah began to reign.

왕하8:26 아하시야가 왕이 될 때에 나이가 이십이 세라 예루살렘에서 일 년을 통치하니라 그의 어머니의 이름은 아달랴라 이스라엘 왕 오므리의 손녀이더라

Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem one year. His mother's name was Athaliah, a granddaughter of Omri king of Israel.

왕하8:27 아하시야가 아합의 집 길로 행하여 아합의 집과 같이 여호와 보시기에 악을 행하였으니 그는 아합의 집의 사위가 되었음이러라

He walked in the ways of the house of Ahab and did evil in the eyes of the LORD, as the house of Ahab had done, for he was related by marriage to Ahab's family.

왕하8:28 그가 아합의 아들 요람과 함께 길르앗 라못으로 가서 아람 왕 하사엘과 더불어 싸우더니 아람 사람들이 요람에게 부상을 입힌지라

Ahaziah went with Joram son of Ahab to war against Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth Gilead. The Arameans wounded Joram;

왕하8:29 요람 왕이 아람 왕 하사엘과 싸울 때에 라마에서 아람 사람에게 당한 부상을 치료하려 하여 이스르엘로 돌아왔더라 유다의 왕 여호람의 아들 아하시야가 아합의 아들 요람을 보기 위하여 내려왔으니 이는 그에게 병이 생겼음이더라

so King Joram returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds the Arameans had inflicted on him at Ramoth in his battle with Hazael king of Aram. Then Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to Jezreel to see Joram son of Ahab, because he had been wounded.

왕하9:1 선지자 엘리사가 선지자의 제자 중 하나를 불러 이르되 너는 허리를 동이고 이 기름병을 손에 가지고 길르앗 라못으로 가라

The prophet Elisha summoned a man from the company of the prophets and said to him, "Tuck your cloak into your belt, take this flask of oil with you and go to Ramoth Gilead.

왕하9:2 거기에 이르거든 님시의 손자 여호사밧의 아들 예후를 찾아 들어가서 그의 형제 중에서 일어나게 하고 그를 데리고 골방으로 들어가

When you get there, look for Jehu son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nimshi. Go to him, get him away from his companions and take him into an inner room.

왕하9:3 기름병을 가지고 그의 머리에 부으며 이르기를 여호와의 말씀이 내가 네게 기름을 부어 이스라엘 왕으로 삼노라 하셨느니라 하고 곧 문을 열고 도망하되 지체하지 말지니라 하니

Then take the flask and pour the oil on his head and declare, 'This is what the LORD says: I anoint you king over Israel.' Then open the door and run; don't delay!"

왕하9:4 그 청년 곧 그 선지자의 청년이 길르앗 라못으로 가니라

So the young man, the prophet, went to Ramoth Gilead.

왕하9:5 그가 이르러 보니 군대 장관들이 앉아 있는지라 소년이 이르되 장관이여 내가 당신에게 할 말이 있나이다 예후가 이르되 우리 모든 사람 중에 누구에게 하려느냐 하니 이르되 장관이여 당신에게니이다 하는지라

When he arrived, he found the army officers sitting together. "I have a message for you, commander," he said. "For which of us?" asked Jehu. "For you, commander," he replied.

왕하9:6 예후가 일어나 집으로 들어가니 청년이 그의 머리에 기름을 부으며 그에게 이르되 이스라엘 하나님 여호와의 말씀이 내가 네게 기름을 부어 여호와의 백성 곧 이스라엘의 왕으로 삼노니

Jehu got up and went into the house. Then the prophet poured the oil on Jehu's head and declared, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'I anoint you king over the LORD'S people Israel.

왕하9:7 너는 네 주 아합의 집을 치라 내가 나의 종 곧 선지자들의 피와 여호와의 종들의 피를 이세벨에게 갚아 주리라

You are to destroy the house of Ahab your master, and I will avenge the blood of my servants the prophets and the blood of all the LORD'S servants shed by Jezebel.

왕하9:8 아합의 온 집이 멸망하리니 이스라엘 중에 매인 자나 놓인 자나 아합에게 속한 모든 남자는 내가 다 멸절하되

The whole house of Ahab will perish. I will cut off from Ahab every last male in Israel--slave or free.

왕하9:9 아합의 집을 느밧의 아들 여로보암의 집과 같게 하며 또 아히야의 아들 바아사의 집과 같게 할지라

I will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat and like the house of Baasha son of Ahijah.

왕하9:10 이스르엘 지방에서 개들이 이세벨을 먹으리니 그를 장사할 사람이 없으리라 하셨느니라 하고 곧 문을 열고 도망하니라

As for Jezebel, dogs will devour her on the plot of ground at Jezreel, and no one will bury her.'" Then he opened the door and ran.

왕하9:11 예후가 나와서 그의 주인의 신복들에게 이르니 한 사람이 그에게 묻되 평안하냐 그 미친 자가 무슨 까닭으로 그대에게 왔더냐 대답하되 그대들이 그 사람과 그가 말한 것을 알리라 하더라

When Jehu went out to his fellow officers, one of them asked him, "Is everything all right? Why did this madman come to you?" "You know the man and the sort of things he says," Jehu replied.

왕하9:12 무리가 이르되 당치 아니한 말이라 청하건대 그대는 우리에게 이르라 하니 대답하되 그가 이리 이리 내게 말하여 이르기를 여호와의 말씀이 내가 네게 기름을 부어 이스라엘 왕으로 삼는다 하셨다 하더라 하는지라

"That's not true!" they said. "Tell us." Jehu said, "Here is what he told me: 'This is what the LORD says: I anoint you king over Israel.'"

왕하9:13 무리가 각각 자기의 옷을 급히 가져다가 섬돌 위 곧 예후의 밑에 깔고 나팔을 불며 이르되 예후는 왕이라 하니라

They hurried and took their cloaks and spread them under him on the bare steps. Then they blew the trumpet and shouted, "Jehu is king!"

왕하9:14 이에 님시의 손자 여호사밧의 아들 예후가 요람을 배반하였으니 곧 요람이 온 이스라엘과 더불어 아람의 왕 하사엘과 맞서서 길르앗 라못을 지키다가

So Jehu son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nimshi, conspired against Joram. (Now Joram and all Israel had been defending Ramoth Gilead against Hazael king of Aram,

왕하9:15 아람의 왕 하사엘과 더불어 싸울 때에 아람 사람에게 부상한 것을 치료하려 하여 이스르엘로 돌아왔던 때라 예후가 이르되 너희 뜻에 합당하거든 한 사람이라도 이 성에서 도망하여 이스르엘에 알리러 가지 못하게 하라 하니라

but King Joram had returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds the Arameans had inflicted on him in the battle with Hazael king of Aram.) Jehu said, "If this is the way you feel, don't let anyone slip out of the city to go and tell the news in Jezreel."

왕하9:16 예후가 병거를 타고 이스르엘로 가니 요람 왕이 거기에 누워 있었음이라 유다의 왕 아하시야는 요람을 보러 내려왔더라

Then he got into his chariot and rode to Jezreel, because Joram was resting there and Ahaziah king of Judah had gone down to see him.

왕하9:17 이스르엘 망대에 파수꾼 하나가 서 있더니 예후의 무리가 오는 것을 보고 이르되 내가 한 무리를 보나이다 하니 요람이 이르되 한 사람을 말에 태워 보내어 맞이하여 평안하냐 묻게 하라 하는지라

When the lookout standing on the tower in Jezreel saw Jehu's troops approaching, he called out, "I see some troops coming." "Get a horseman," Joram ordered. "Send him to meet them and ask, 'Do you come in peace?'"

왕하9:18 한 사람이 말을 타고 가서 만나 이르되 왕의 말씀이 평안하냐 하시더이다 하매 예후가 이르되 평안이 네게 상관이 있느냐 내 뒤로 물러나라 하니라 파수꾼이 전하여 이르되 사자가 그들에게 갔으나 돌아오지 아니하나이다 하는지라

The horseman rode off to meet Jehu and said, "This is what the king says: 'Do you come in peace?'" "What do you have to do with peace?" Jehu replied. "Fall in behind me." The lookout reported, "The messenger has reached them, but he isn't coming back."

왕하9:19 다시 한 사람을 말에 태워 보내었더니 그들에게 가서 이르되 왕의 말씀이 평안하냐 하시더이다 하매 예후가 이르되 평안이 네게 상관이 있느냐 내 뒤를 따르라 하더라

So the king sent out a second horseman. When he came to them he said, "This is what the king says: 'Do you come in peace?'" Jehu replied, "What do you have to do with peace? Fall in behind me."

왕하9:20 파수꾼이 또 전하여 이르되 그도 그들에게까지 갔으나 돌아오지 아니하고 그 병거 모는 것이 님시의 손자 예후가 모는 것 같이 미치게 모나이다 하니

The lookout reported, "He has reached them, but he isn't coming back either. The driving is like that of Jehu son of Nimshi--he drives like a madman."

왕하9:21 요람이 이르되 메우라 하매 그의 병거를 메운지라 이스라엘 왕 요람과 유다 왕 아하시야가 각각 그의 병거를 타고 가서 예후를 맞을새 이스르엘 사람 나봇의 토지에서 만나매

"Hitch up my chariot," Joram ordered. And when it was hitched up, Joram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah rode out, each in his own chariot, to meet Jehu. They met him at the plot of ground that had belonged to Naboth the Jezreelite.

왕하9:22 요람이 예후를 보고 이르되 예후야 평안하냐 하니 대답하되 네 어머니 이세벨의 음행과 술수가 이렇게 많으니 어찌 평안이 있으랴 하더라

When Joram saw Jehu he asked, "Have you come in peace, Jehu?" "How can there be peace," Jehu replied, "as long as all the idolatry and witchcraft of your mother Jezebel abound?"

왕하9:23 요람이 곧 손을 돌이켜 도망하며 아하시야에게 이르되 아하시야여 반역이로다 하니

Joram turned about and fled, calling out to Ahaziah, "Treachery, Ahaziah!"

왕하9:24 예후가 힘을 다하여 활을 당겨 요람의 두 팔 사이를 쏘니 화살이 그의 염통을 꿰뚫고 나오매 그가 병거 가운데에 엎드러 진지라

Then Jehu drew his bow and shot Joram between the shoulders. The arrow pierced his heart and he slumped down in his chariot.

왕하9:25 예후가 그의 장관 빗갈에게 이르되 그 시체를 가져다가 이스르엘 사람 나봇의 밭에 던지라 네가 기억하려니와 이전에 너와 내가 함께 타고 그의 아버지 아합을 좇았을 때에 여호와께서 이같이 그의 일을 예언하셨느니라

Jehu said to Bidkar, his chariot officer, "Pick him up and throw him on the field that belonged to Naboth the Jezreelite. Remember how you and I were riding together in chariots behind Ahab his father when the LORD made this prophecy about him:

왕하9:26 여호와께서 말씀하시기를 내가 어제 나봇의 피와 그의 아들들의 피를 분명히 보았노라 여호와께서 또 말씀하시기를 이 토지에서 네게 갚으리라 하셨으니 그런즉 여호와의 말씀대로 그의 시체를 가져다가 이 밭에 던질 지니라 하는지라

'Yesterday I saw the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons, declares the LORD, and I will surely make you pay for it on this plot of ground, declares the LORD.' Now then, pick him up and throw him on that plot, in accordance with the word of the LORD."

왕하9:27 유다의 왕 아하시야가 이를 보고 정원의 정자 길로 도망하니 예후가 그 뒤를 쫓아가며 이르되 그도 병거 가운데서 죽이라 하매 이블르암 가까운 구르 비탈에서 치니 그가 므깃도까지 도망하여 거기서 죽은지라

When Ahaziah king of Judah saw what had happened, he fled up the road to Beth Haggan. Jehu chased him, shouting, "Kill him too!" They wounded him in his chariot on the way up to Gur near Ibleam, but he escaped to Megiddo and died there.

왕하9:28 그의 신복들이 그를 병거에 싣고 예루살렘에 이르러 다윗 성에서 그들의 조상들과 함께 그의 묘실에 장사하니라

His servants took him by chariot to Jerusalem and buried him with his fathers in his tomb in the City of David.

왕하9:29 아합의 아들 요람의 제십일년에 아하시야가 유다 왕이 되었었더라

(In the eleventh year of Joram son of Ahab, Ahaziah had become king of Judah.)

왕하9:30 예후가 이스르엘에 오니 이세벨이 듣고 눈을 그리고 머리를 꾸미고 창에서 바라보다가

Then Jehu went to Jezreel. When Jezebel heard about it, she painted her eyes, arranged her hair and looked out of a window.

왕하9:31 예후가 문에 들어오매 이르되 주인을 죽인 너 시므리여 평안하냐 하니

As Jehu entered the gate, she asked, "Have you come in peace, Zimri, you murderer of your master?"

왕하9:32 예후가 얼굴을 들어 창을 향하고 이르되 내 편이 될 자가 누구냐 누구냐 하니 두어 내시가 예후를 내다보는지라

He looked up at the window and called out, "Who is on my side? Who?" Two or three eunuchs looked down at him.

왕하9:33 이르되 그를 내려던지라 하니 내려던지매 그의 피가 담과 말에게 튀더라 예후가 그의 시체를 밟으니라

"Throw her down!" Jehu said. So they threw her down, and some of her blood spattered the wall and the horses as they trampled her underfoot.

왕하9:34 예후가 들어가서 먹고 마시고 이르되 가서 이 저주 받은 여자를 찾아 장사하라 그는 왕의 딸이니라 하매

Jehu went in and ate and drank. "Take care of that cursed woman," he said, "and bury her, for she was a king's daughter."

왕하9:35 가서 장사하려 한즉 그 두골과 발과 그의 손 외에는 찾지 못한지라

But when they went out to bury her, they found nothing except her skull, her feet and her hands.

왕하9:36 돌아와서 전하니 예후가 이르되 이는 여호와께서 그 종 디셉 사람 엘리야를 통하여 말씀하신 바라 이르시기를 이스르엘 토지에서 개들이 이세벨의 살을 먹을지라

They went back and told Jehu, who said, "This is the word of the LORD that he spoke through his servant Elijah the Tishbite: On the plot of ground at Jezreel dogs will devour Jezebel's flesh.

왕하9:37 그 시체가 이스르엘 토지에서 거름같이 밭에 있으리니 이것이 이세벨이라고 가리켜 말하지 못하게 되리라 하셨느니라 하였더라

Jezebel's body will be like refuse on the ground in the plot at Jezreel, so that no one will be able to say, 'This is Jezebel.'"

2 Kings 10

왕하10:1 아합의 아들 칠십 명이 사마리아에 있는지라 예후가 편지들을 써서 사마리아에 보내서 이스르엘 귀족들 곧 장로들과 아합의 여러 아들을 교육하는 자들에게 전하니 일렀으되

Now there were in Samaria seventy sons of the house of Ahab. So Jehu wrote letters and sent them to Samaria: to the officials of Jezreel, to the elders and to the guardians of Ahab's children. He said,

왕하10:2 너희 주의 아들들이 너희와 함께 있고 또 병거와 말과 견고한 성과 무기가 너희에게 있으니 이 편지가 너희에게 이르거든

"As soon as this letter reaches you, since your master's sons are with you and you have chariots and horses, a fortified city and weapons,

왕하10:3 너희 주의 아들들 중에서 가장 어질고 정직한 자를 택하여 그의 아버지의 왕좌에 두고 너희 주의 집을 위하여 싸우라 하였더라

choose the best and most worthy of your master's sons and set him on his father's throne. Then fight for your master's house."

왕하10:4 그들이 심히 두려워하여 이르되 두 왕이 그를 당하지 못하였거든 우리가 어찌 당하리요 하고

But they were terrified and said, "If two kings could not resist him, how can we?"

왕하10:5 그 왕궁을 책임지는 자와 그 성읍을 책임지는 자와 장로들과 왕자를 교육하는 자들이 예후에게 말을 전하여 이르되 우리는 당신의 종이라 당신이 말하는 모든 것을 우리가 행하고 어떤 사람이든지 왕으로 세우지 아니하리니 당신이 보기에 좋은 대로 행하라 한지라

So the palace administrator, the city governor, the elders and the guardians sent this message to Jehu: "We are your servants and we will do anything you say. We will not appoint anyone as king; you do whatever you think best."

왕하10:6 예후가 다시 그들에게 편지를 부치니 일렀으되 만일 너희가 내 편이 되어 내 말을 너희가 들으려거든 너희 주의 아들된 사람들의 머리를 가지고 내일 이맘때에 이스르엘에 이르러 내게 나아오라 하였더라 왕자 칠십 명이 그 성읍의 귀족들, 곧 그들을 양육하는 자들과 함께 있는 중에

Then Jehu wrote them a second letter, saying, "If you are on my side and will obey me, take the heads of your master's sons and come to me in Jezreel by this time tomorrow." Now the royal princes, seventy of them, were with the leading men of the city, who were rearing them.

왕하10:7 편지가 그들에게 이르매 그들이 왕자 칠십 명을 붙잡아 죽이고 그들의 머리를 광주리에 담아 이스르엘 예후에게로 보내니라

When the letter arrived, these men took the princes and slaughtered all seventy of them. They put their heads in baskets and sent them to Jehu in Jezreel.

왕하10:8 사자가 와서 예후에게 전하여 이르되 그 무리가 왕자들의 머리를 가지고 왔나이다 이르되 두 무더기로 쌓아 내일 아침까지 문 어귀에 두라 하고

When the messenger arrived, he told Jehu, "They have brought the heads of the princes." Then Jehu ordered, "Put them in two piles at the entrance of the city gate until morning."

왕하10:9 이튿날 아침에 그가 나가 서서 뭇 백성에게 이르되 너희는 의롭도다 나는 내 주를 배반하여 죽였거니와 이 여러 사람을 죽인 자는 누구냐

The next morning Jehu went out. He stood before all the people and said, "You are innocent. It was I who conspired against my master and killed him, but who killed all these?

왕하10:10 그런즉 이제 너희는 알라 곧 여호와께서 아합의 집에 대하여 하신 말씀은 하나도 땅에 떨어지지 아니하리라 여호와께서 그의 종 엘리야를 통하여 하신 말씀을 이제 이루셨도다 하니라

Know then, that not a word the LORD has spoken against the house of Ahab will fail. The LORD has done what he promised through his servant Elijah."

왕하10:11 예후가 아합의 집에 속한 이스르엘에 남아 있는 자를 다 죽이고 또 그의 귀족들과 신뢰 받는 자들과 제사장들을 죽이되 그에게 속한 자를 하나도 생존자를 남기지 아니하였더라

So Jehu killed everyone in Jezreel who remained of the house of Ahab, as well as all his chief men, his close friends and his priests, leaving him no survivor.

왕하10:12 예후가 일어나서 사마리아로 가더니 도중에 목자가 양털 깎는 집에 이르러

Jehu then set out and went toward Samaria. At Beth Eked of the Shepherds,

왕하10:13 예후가 유다의 왕 아하시야의 형제라 이제 왕자들과 태후의 아들들에게 문안하러 내려가노라 하는지라

he met some relatives of Ahaziah king of Judah and asked, "Who are you?" They said, "We are relatives of Ahaziah, and we have come down to greet the families of the king and of the queen mother."

왕하10:14 이르되 사로잡으라 하매 곧 사로잡아 목자가 양털 깎는 집 웅덩이 곁에서 죽이니 사십이 명이 하나도 남지 아니하였더라

"Take them alive!" he ordered. So they took them alive and slaughtered them by the well of Beth Eked--forty-two men. He left no survivor.

왕하10:15 예후가 거기에서 떠나가다가 자기를 맞이하러 오는 레갑의 아들 여호나답을 만난지라 그의 안부를 묻고 그에게 이르되 내 마음이 네 마음을 향하여 진실함과 같이 네 마음도 진실하냐 하니 여호나답이 대답하되 그러하니이다 이르되 그러면 나와 손을 잡자 하니 손을 잡으니 예후가 끌어 병거에 올리며

After he left there, he came upon Jehonadab son of Recab, who was on his way to meet him. Jehu greeted him and said, "Are you in accord with me, as I am with you?" "I am," Jehonadab answered. "If so," said Jehu, "give me your hand." So he did, and Jehu helped him up into the chariot.

왕하10:16 이르되 나와 함께 가서 여호와를 위한 나의 열심을 보라 하고 이에 자기 병거에 태우고

Jehu said, "Come with me and see my zeal for the LORD." Then he had him ride along in his chariot.

왕하10:17 사마리아에 이르러 거기에 남아 있는 바 아합에게 속한 자들을 죽여 진멸하였으니 여호와께서 엘리야에게 이르신 말씀과 같이 되었더라

When Jehu came to Samaria, he killed all who were left there of Ahab's family; he destroyed them, according to the word of the LORD spoken to Elijah.

왕하10:18 예후가 뭇 백성을 모으고 그들에게 이르되 아합은 바알을 조금 섬겼으나 예후는 많이 섬기리라

Then Jehu brought all the people together and said to them, "Ahab served Baal a little; Jehu will serve him much.

왕하10:19 그러므로 내가 이제 큰 제사를 바알에게 드리고자 하노니 바알의 모든 선지자의 모든 섬기는 자와 모든 제사장들을 한 사람도 빠뜨리지 말고 불러 내게로 나아오게 하라 모든 오지 아니하는 자는 살려 두지 아니하리라 하니 이는 예후가 바알 섬기는 자를 멸하려 하여 계책을 씀이라

Now summon all the prophets of Baal, all his ministers and all his priests. See that no one is missing, because I am going to hold a great sacrifice for Baal. Anyone who fails to come will no longer live." But Jehu was acting deceptively in order to destroy the ministers of Baal.

왕하10:20 예후가 바알을 위하는 대회를 거룩히 열라 하매 드디어 공포되었더라

Jehu said, "Call an assembly in honor of Baal." So they proclaimed it.

왕하10:21 예후가 온 이스라엘에 사람을 두루 보냈더니 바알을 섬기는 모든 사람이 하나도 빠진 자가 없이 다 이르렀고 무리가 바알의 신당에 들어가매 바알의 신당 이쪽부터 저쪽까지 가득하였더라

Then he sent word throughout Israel, and all the ministers of Baal came; not one stayed away. They crowded into the temple of Baal until it was full from one end to the other.

왕하10:22 예후가 예복 맡은 자에게 이르되 예복을 내다가 바알을 섬기는 모든 자에게 주라 하매 그들에게로 예복을 가져온지라

And Jehu said to the keeper of the wardrobe, "Bring robes for all the ministers of Baal." So he brought out robes for them.

왕하10:23 예후가 레갑의 아들 여호나답과 더불어 바알의 신당에 들어가서 바알을 섬기는 자들에게 이르되 너희는 살펴보아 바알을 섬기는 자들만 여기 있게 하고 여호와의 종은 하나도 여기 너희 중에 있지 못하게 하라 하고

Then Jehu and Jehonadab son of Recab went into the temple of Baal. Jehu said to the ministers of Baal, "Look around and see that no servants of the LORD are here with you--only ministers of Baal."

왕하10:24 무리가 번제와 다른 제사를 드리려고 들어간 때에 예후가 팔십 명을 밖에 두며 이르되 내가 너희 손에 넘겨주는 사람을 한 사람이라도 도망하게 하는 자는 자기의 생명으로 그 사람의 생명을 대신하리라 하니라

So they went in to make sacrifices and burnt offerings. Now Jehu had posted eighty men outside with this warning: "If one of you lets any of the men I am placing in your hands escape, it will be your life for his life."

왕하10:25 번제 드리기를 다하매 예후가 호위병과 지휘관들에게 이르되 들어가서 한 사람도 나가지 못하게 하고 죽이라 하매 호위병과 지휘관들이 칼로 그들을 죽여 밖에 던지고

As soon as Jehu had finished making the burnt offering, he ordered the guards and officers: "Go in and kill them; let no one escape." So they cut them down with the sword. The guards and officers threw the bodies out and then entered the inner shrine of the temple of Baal.

왕하10:26 바알의 신당 있는 성으로 가서 바알의 신당에서 목상들을 가져 다가 불사르고

They brought the sacred stone out of the temple of Baal and burned it.

왕하10:27 바알의 목상을 헐며 바알의 신당을 헐어서 변소를 만들었더니 오늘까지 이르니라

They demolished the sacred stone of Baal and tore down the temple of Baal, and people have used it for a latrine to this day.

왕하10:28 예후가 이와 같이 이스라엘 중에서 바알을 멸하였으나

So Jehu destroyed Baal worship in Israel.

왕하10:29 이스라엘에게 범죄하게 한 느밧의 아들 여로보암의 죄 곧 벧엘과 단에 있는 금송아지를 섬기는 죄에서는 떠나지 아니하였더라

However, he did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit--the worship of the golden calves at Bethel and Dan.

왕하10:30 여호와께서 예후에게 이르시되 네가 나보기에 정직한 일을 행하되 잘 행하여 내 마음에 있는 대로 아합 집에 다 행하였은즉 네 자손이 이스라엘 왕위를 이어 사대를 지내리라 하시니라

The LORD said to Jehu, "Because you have done well in accomplishing what is right in my eyes and have done to the house of Ahab all I had in mind to do, your descendants will sit on the throne of Israel to the fourth generation."

왕하10:31 그러나 예후가 전심으로 이스라엘 하나님 여호와의 율법을 지켜 행하지 아니하며 여로보암이 이스라엘에게 범하게 한 그 죄에서 떠나지 아니하였더라

Yet Jehu was not careful to keep the law of the LORD, the God of Israel, with all his heart. He did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam, which he had caused Israel to commit.

왕하10:32 이 때에 여호와께서 이스라엘에서 땅을 잘라 내기 시작하시매 하사엘이 이스라엘의 모든 영토에서 공격하되

In those days the LORD began to reduce the size of Israel. Hazael overpowered the Israelites throughout their territory

왕하10:33 요단 동쪽 길르앗 온 땅 곧 갓 사람과 르우벤 사람과 므낫세 사람의 땅 아르논 골짜기에 있는 아로엘에서부터 길르앗과 바산까지 하였더라

east of the Jordan in all the land of Gilead (the region of Gad, Reuben and Manasseh), from Aroer by the Arnon Gorge through Gilead to Bashan.

왕하10:34 예후의 남은 사적과 행한 모든 일과 업적은 이스라엘 왕 역대지략에 기록되지 아니하였느냐

As for the other events of Jehu's reign, all he did, and all his achievements, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel?

왕하10:35 예후가 그의 조상들과 함께 자매 사마리아에 장사되고 그의 아들 여호아하스가 그를 대신하여 왕이 되니라

Jehu rested with his fathers and was buried in Samaria. And Jehoahaz his son succeeded him as king.

왕하10:36 예후가 사마리아에서 이스라엘을 다스린 햇수는 스물여덟 해이더라

The time that Jehu reigned over Israel in Samaria was twenty-eight years. 2KI
