출애굽기 3 장.

출3:1 모세가 그의 장인 미디안 제사장 이드로의 양 떼를 치더니 그 떼를 광야 서쪽으로 인도하여 하나님의 산 호렙에 이르매

출3:2 여호와의 사자가 떨기나무 가운데로부터 나오는 불꽃 안에서 그에게 나타나시니라 그가 보니 떨기나무에 불이 붙었으나 그 떨기나무가 사라지지 아니하는지라

출3:3 이에 모세가 이르되 내가 돌이켜 가서 이 큰 광경을 보리라 떨기나무가 어찌하여 타지 아니하는고 하니 그 때에

출3:4 여호와께서 그가 보려고 돌이켜 오는 것을 보신지라 하나님이 떨기나무 가운데서 그를 불러 이르시되 모세야 모세야 하시매 그가 이르되 내가 여기 있나이다

출3:5 하나님이 이르시되 이리로 가까이 오지 말라 네가 선 곳은 거룩한 땅이니 네 발에서 신을 벗으라

출3:6 또 이르시되 나는 네 조상의 하나님이니 아브라함의 하나님, 이삭의 하나님, 야곱의 하나님이니라 모세가 하나님 뵈옵기를 두려워하여 얼굴을 가리매

출3:7 여호와께서 이르시되 내가 애굽에 있는 내 백성의 고통을 분명히 보고 그들이 그들의 감독자로 말미암아 부르짖음을 듣고 그 근심을 알고

출3:8 내가 내려가서 그들을 애굽인의 손에서 건져내고 그들을 그 땅에서 인도하여 아름답고 광대한 땅, 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅 곧 가나안 족속, 헷 족속, 아모리 족속, 브리스 족속, 히위 족속, 여부스 족속의 지방에 데려가려 하노라

출3:9 이제 가라 이스라엘 자손의 부르짖음이 내게 달하고 애굽 사람이 그들을 괴롭히는 학대도 내가 보았으니

출3:10 이제 내가 너를 바로에게 보내어 너에게 내 백성 이스라엘 자손을 애굽에서 인도하여 내게 하리라

출3:11 모세가 하나님께 아뢰되 내가 누구이기에 바로에게 가며 이스라엘 자손을 애굽에서 인도하여 내리이까

출3:12 하나님이 이르시되 내가 반드시 너와 함께 있으리라 네가 그 백성을 애굽에서 인도하여 낸 후에 너희가 이 산에서 하나님을 섬기리니 이것이 내가 너를 보낸 증거니라

출3:13 모세가 하나님께 아뢰되 내가 이스라엘 자손에게 가서 이르기를 너희의 조상의 하나님이 나를 너희에게 보내셨다 하면 그들이 내게 묻기를 그의 이름이 무엇이냐 하리니 내가 무엇이라고 그들에게 말하리이까

출3:14 하나님이 모세에게 이르시되 나는 스스로 있는 자이니라 또 이르시되 너는 이스라엘 자손에게 이같이 이르기를 스스로 있는 자가 나를 너희에게 보내셨다 하라

출3:15 하나님이 또 모세에게 이르시되 너는 이스라엘 자손에게 이같이 이르기를 너희 조상의 하나님 여호와 곧 아브라함의 하나님, 이삭의 하나님, 야곱의 하나님께서 나를 너희에게 보내셨다 하라 이는 나의 영원한 이름이요 대대로 기억할 나의 칭호니라

출3:16 너는 가서 이스라엘의 장로들을 모으고 그들에게 이르기를 여호와 너희 조상의 하나님 곧 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱의 하나님이 내게 나타나 이르시되 내가 너희를 돌보아 너희가 애굽에서 당한 일을 확실히 보았노라

출3:17 내가 말하였거니와 내가 너희를 애굽의 고난 중에서 인도하여 내어 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅 곧 가나안 족속, 헷 족속, 아모리 족속, 브리스 족속, 히위 족속, 여부스 족속의 땅으로 올라가게 하리라 하셨다 하면

출3:18 그들이 네 말을 들으리니 너는 그들의 장로들과 함께 애굽 왕에게 이르기를 히브리 사람의 하나님 여호와께서 우리에게 임하셨은즉 우리가 우리 하나님 여호와께 제사를 드리려 하오니 사흘길쯤 광야로 가도록 허락하소서 하라

출3:19 내가 아노니 강한 손으로 치기 전에는 애굽 왕이 너희가 가도록 허락하지 아니하다가

출3:20 내가 내 손을 들어 애굽 중에 여러 가지 이적으로 그 나라를 친 후에야 그가 너희를 보내리라

출3:21 내가 애굽 사람으로 이 백성에게 은혜를 입히게 할지라 너희가 나갈 때에 빈손으로 가지 아니하리니

출3:22 여인들은 모두 그 이웃 사람과 및 자기 집에 거류하는 여인에게 은 패물과 금 패물과 의복을 구하여 너희의 자녀를 꾸미라 너희는 애굽 사람들의 물품을 취하리라

누가복음 6 장.

눅6:1 안식일에 예수께서 밀밭 사이로 지나가실새 제자들이 이삭을 잘라 손으로 비비어 먹으니

눅6:2 어떤 바리새인들이 말하되 어찌하여 안식일에 하지 못할 일을 하느냐

눅6:3 예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 다윗이 자기와 및 함께 한 자들이 시장할 때에 한 일을 읽지 못하였느냐

눅6:4 그가 하나님의 전에 들어가서 다만 제사장 외에는 먹어서는 안되는 진설병을 먹고 함께한 자들에게도 주지 아니하였느냐

눅6:5 또 이르시되 인자는 안식일의 주인이니라 하시더라

눅6:6 또 다른 안식일에 예수께서 회당에 들어가사 가르치실새 거기 오른손 마른 사람이 있는지라

눅6:7 서기관과 바리새인들이 예수를 고발할 증거를 찾으려 하여 안식일에 병을 고치시는가 엿보니

눅6:8 예수께서 그들의 생각을 아시고 손 마른 사람에게 이르시되 일어나 한가운데 서라 하시니 그가 일어나 서거늘

눅6:9 예수께서 그들에게 이르시되 내가 너희에게 묻노니 안식일에 선을 행하는 것과 악을 행하는 것, 생명을 구하는 것과 죽이는 것, 어느 것이 옳으냐 하시며

눅6:10 무리를 둘러보시고 그 사람에게 이르시되 네 손을 내밀라 하시니 그가 그리하매 그 손이 회복된지라

눅6:11 그들은 노기가 가득하여 예수를 어떻게 할까 하고 서로 의논하니라

눅6:12 이 때에 예수께서 기도하시러 산으로 가사 밤이 새도록 하나님께 기도하시고

눅6:13 밝으매 그 제자들을 부르사 그 중에서 열 둘을 택하여 사도라 칭하셨으니

눅6:14 곧 베드로라고도 이름을 주신 시몬과 그의 동생 안드레와 야고보와 요한과 빌립과 바돌로매와

눅6:15 마태와 도마와 알패오의 아들 야고보와 셀롯이라는 시몬과

눅6:16 야고보의 아들 유다와 예수를 파는 자 될 가룟 유다라

눅6:17 예수께서 그들과 함께 내려오사 평지에 서시니 그 제자의 많은 무리와 예수의 말씀도 듣고 병 고침을 받으려고 유대 사방과 예루살렘과 두로와 시돈의 해안으로부터 온 많은 백성도 있더라

눅6:18 더러운 귀신에게 고난 받는 자들도 고침을 받은지라

눅6:19 온 무리가 예수를 만지려고 힘쓰니 이는 능력이 예수께로부터 나와서 모든 사람을 낫게 함이러라

눅6:20 예수께서 눈을 들어 제자들을 보시고 이르시되 너희 가난한 자는 복이 있나니 하나님의 나라가 너희 것임이요

눅6:21 지금 주린 자는 복이 있나니 너희가 배부름을 얻을 것임이요 지금 우는 자는 복이 있나니 너희가 웃을 것임이요

눅6:22 인자로 말미암아 사람들이 너희를 미워하며 멀리하고 욕하고 너희 이름을 악하다 하여 버릴 때에는 너희에게 복이 있도다

눅6:23 그 날에 기뻐하고 뛰놀라 하늘에서 너희 상이 큼이라 그들의 조상들이 선지자들에게 이와 같이 하였느니라

눅6:24 그러나 화 있을진저 너희 부요한 자여 너희는 너희의 위로를 이미 받았도다

눅6:25 화 있을진저 너희 지금 배부른 자여 너희는 주리리로다 화 있을진저 너희 지금 웃는 자여 너희가 애통하며 울리로다

눅6:26 모든 사람이 너희를 칭찬하면 화가 있도다 그들의 조상들이 거짓 선지자들에게 이와 같이 하였느니라

눅6:27 그러나 너희 듣는 자에게 내가 이르노니 너희 원수를 사랑하며 너희를 미워하는 자를 선대하며

눅6:28 너희를 저주하는 자를 위하여 축복하며 너희를 모욕하는 자를 위하여 기도하라

눅6:29 너의 이 뺨을 치는 자에게 저 뺨도 돌려대며 네 겉옷을 빼앗는 자에게 속옷도 거절하지 말라

눅6:30 네게 구하는 자에게 주며 네 것을 가져가는 자에게 다시 달라 하지 말며

눅6:31 남에게 대접을 받고자 하는 대로 너희도 남을 대접하라

눅6:32 너희가 만일 너희를 사랑하는 자만을 사랑하면 칭찬 받을 것이 무엇이냐 죄인들도 사랑하는 자는 사랑하느니라

눅6:33 너희가 만일 선대하는 자만을 선대하면 칭찬 받을 것이 무엇이냐 죄인들도 이렇게 하느니라

눅6:34 너희가 받기를 바라고 사람들에게 꾸어 주면 칭찬 받을 것이 무엇이냐 죄인들도 그만큼 받고자 하여 죄인에게 꾸어 주느니라

눅6:35 오직 너희는 원수를 사랑하고 선대하며 아무 것도 바라지 말고 꾸어 주라 그리하면 너희 상이 클 것이요 또 지극히 높으신 이의 아들이 되리니 그는 은혜를 모르는 자와 악한 자에게도 인자하시니라

눅6:36 너희 아버지의 자비로우심 같이 너희도 자비로운 자가 되라

눅6:37 비판치 말라 그리하면 너희가 비판을 받지 않을 것이요 정죄하지 말라 그리하면 너희가 정죄를 받지 않을 것이요 용서하라 그리하면 너희가 용서를 받을 것이요

눅6:38 주라 그리하면 너희에게 줄 것이니 곧 후히 되어 누르고 흔들어 넘치도록 하여 너희에게 안겨 주리라 너희의 헤아리는 그 헤아림으로 너희도 헤아림을 도로 받을 것이니라

눅6:39 또 비유로 말씀하시되 맹인이 맹인을 인도할 수 있느냐 둘 다 구덩이에 빠지지 아니하겠느냐

눅6:40 제자가 그 선생보다 높지 못하나 무릇 온전하게 된 자는 그 선생과 같으리라

눅6:41 어찌하여 형제의 눈 속에 있는 티는 보고 네 눈 속에 있는 들보는 깨닫지 못하느냐

눅6:42 너는 네 눈 속에 있는 들보를 보지 못하면서 어찌하여 형제에게 말하기를 형제여 나로 네 눈 속에 있는 티를 빼게 하라 할 수 있느냐 외식하는 자여 먼저 네 눈 속에서 들보를 빼라 그 후에야 네가 밝히 보고 형제의 눈 속에 있는 티를 빼리라

눅6:43 못된 열매 맺는 좋은 나무가 없고 또 좋은 열매 맺는 못된 나무가 없느니라

눅6:44 나무는 각각 그 열매로 아나니 가시나무에서 무화과를, 또는 찔레에서 포도를 따지 못하느니라

눅6:45 선한 사람은 마음의 쌓은 선에서 선을 내고 악한 자는 그 쌓은 악에서 악을 내나니 이는 마음에 가득한 것을 입으로 말함이니라

눅6:46 너희는 나를 불러 주여 주여 하면서도 어찌하여 나가 말하는 것을 행하지 아니하느냐

눅6:47 내게 나아와 내 말을 듣고 행하는 자마다 누구와 같은 것을 너희에게 보이리라

눅6:48 집을 짓되 깊이 파고 주추를 반석 위에 놓은 사람과 같으니 큰 물이 나서 탁류가 그 집에 부딪치되 잘 지었기 때문에 능히 요동하지 못하게 하였거니와

눅6:49 듣고 행하지 아니하는 자는 주추 없이 흙 위에 집 지은 사람과 같으니 탁류가 부딪치매 집이 곧 무너져 파괴됨이 심하니라 하시니라

욥기 20 장.

욥20:1 나아마 사람 소발이 대답하여 이르되

욥20:2 그러므로 내 초조한 마음이 나로 하여금 대답하게 하나니 이는 내 중심이 조급함이니라

욥20:3 내가 나를 부끄럽게 하는 책망을 들었으므로 나의 슬기로운 마음이 나로 하여금 대답하게 하는구나

욥20:4 네가 알지 못하느냐 예로부터 사람이 이 세상에 생긴 때로부터

욥20:5 악인이 이긴다는 자랑도 잠시요 경건치 못한 자의 즐거움도 잠깐이니라

욥20:6 그 존귀함이 하늘에 닿고 그 머리가 구름에 미칠지라도

욥20:7 자기의 똥처럼 영원히 망할 것이라 그를 본 자가 이르기를 그가 어디 있느냐 하리라

욥20:8 그는 꿈 같이 지나가니 다시 찾을 수 없을 것이요 밤에 보이는 환상처럼 사라지리라

욥20:9 그를 본 눈이 다시 그를 보지 못 할 것이요 그의 처소도 다시 그를 보지 못할 것이며

욥20:10 그의 아들들은 가난한 자에게 은혜를 구하겠고 그도 얻은 재물을 자기 손으로 도로 줄 것이며

욥20:11 그의 기골이 청년 같이 강장하나 그와 함께 흙에 누우리라

욥20:12 그는 비록 악을 달게 여겨 혀 밑에 감추며

욥20:13 아껴서 버리지 아니하고 입천장에 물고 있을지라도

욥20:14 그의 음식이 창자 속에서 변하며 뱃속에서 독사의 쓸개가 되느니라

욥20:15 그가 재물을 삼켰을지라도 토할 것은 하나님이 그의 배에서 도로 나오게 하심이니

욥20:16 그는 독사의 독을 빨며 뱀의 혀에 죽을 것이라

욥20:17 그는 강 곧 꿀과 엉긴 젖이 흐르는 강을 보지 못할 것이요

욥20:18 수고하여 얻은 것을 삼키지 못하고 돌려주며 매매하여 얻은 재물로 즐거움을 삼지 못하리니

욥20:19 이는 그가 가난한 자를 학대하고 버렸음이요 자기가 세우지 않은 집을 빼앗음이니라

욥20:20 그는 마음에 평안을 알지 못하니 그가 기뻐하는 것을 하나도 보존하지 못하겠고

욥20:21 남기는 것이 없이 모두 먹으니 그런즉 그 행복이 오래 가지 못할 것이라

욥20:22 풍족할 때에도 괴로움이 이르리니 모든 재난을 주는 자의 손이 그에게 임하리라

욥20:23 그가 배를 불리려 할 때에 하나님이 맹렬한 진노를 내리시리니 음식을 먹을 때에 그의 위에 비같이 쏟으시리라

욥20:24 그가 철 병기를 피할 때에는 놋 화살을 쏘아 꿰뚫을 것이요

욥20:25 몸에서 그의 화살을 빼낸즉 번쩍번쩍하는 촉이 그의 쓸개에서 나오고 큰 두려움이 그에게 닥치느니라

욥20:26 큰 어둠이 그를 위하여 예비되어 있고 사람이 피우지 않은 불이 그를 멸하며 그 장막에 남은 것을 해치리라

욥20:27 하늘이 그의 죄악을 드러낼 것이요 땅이 그를 대항하여 일어날 것인즉

욥20:28 그의 가산이 떠나가며 하나님의 진노의 날에 끌려가리라

욥20:29 이는 악인이 하나님께 받을 분깃이요 하나님이 그에게 정하신 기업이니라

고린도전서 7 장.

고전7:1 너희가 쓴 문제에 대하여 말하면 남자가 여자를 가까이 아니함이 좋으나

고전7:2 음행을 피하기 위하여 남자마다 자기 아내를 두고 여자마다 자기 남편을 두라

고전7:3 남편은 그 아내에 대한 의무를 다하고 아내도 그 남편에게 그렇게 할지라

고전7:4 아내는 자기 몸을 주장하지 못하고 오직 그 남편이 하며 남편도 그와 같이 자기 몸을 주장하지 못하고 오직 그 아내가 하나니

고전7:5 서로 분방하지 말라 다만 기도할 틈을 얻기 위하여 합의상 얼마 동안은 하되 다시 합하라 이는 너희가 절제 못함으로 사탄이 너희를 시험하지 못하게 하려 함이라

고전7:6 그러나 내가 이 말을 함은 허락이요 명령은 아니니라

고전7:7 나는 모든 사람이 나와 같기를 원하노라 그러나 각각 하나님께 받은 자기의 은사가 있으니 이 사람은 이러하고 저 사람은 저러하니라

고전7:8 내가 결혼하지 아니한 자들과 과부들에게 이르노니 나와 같이 그냥 지내는 것이 좋으니라

고전7:9 만일 절제할 수 없거든 결혼하라 정욕이 불같이 타는 것보다 결혼하는 것이 나으니라

고전7:10 결혼한 자들에게 내가 명하노니 (명하는 자는 내가 아니요 주시라) 여자는 남편에게서 갈라서지 말고

고전7:11 (만일 갈라섰으면 그대로 지내든지 다시 그 남편과 화합하든지 하라) 남편도 아내를 버리지 말라

고전7:12 그 나머지 사람들에게 내가 말하노니 (이는 주의 명령이 아니라) 만일 어떤 형제에게 믿지 아니하는 아내가 있어 남편과 함께 살기를 좋아하거든 그를 버리지 말며

고전7:13 어떤 여자에게 믿지 아니하는 남편이 있어 아내와 함께 살기를 좋아하거든 그 남편을 버리지 말라

고전7:14 믿지 아니하는 남편이 아내로 말미암아 거룩하게 되고 믿지 아니하는 아내가 남편으로 말미암아 거룩하게 되나니 그렇지 아니하면 너희 자녀도 깨끗하지 못하니라 그러나 이제 거룩하니라

고전7:15 혹 믿지 아니하는 자가 갈리거든 갈리게 하라 형제나 자매나 이런 일에 구애될 것이 없느니라 그러나 하나님은 화평 중에서 너희를 부르셨느니라

고전7:16 아내 된 자여 네가 남편을 구원할는지 어찌 알 수 있으며 남편 된 자여 네가 네 아내를 구원할는지 어찌 알 수 있으리요

고전7:17 오직 주께서 각 사람에게 나눠 주신 대로 하나님이 각 사람을 부르신 그대로 행하라 내가 모든 교회에서 이와 같이 명하노라

고전7:18 할례자로 부르심을 받은 자가 있느냐 무할례자가 되지 말며 무할례자로 부르심을 받은 자가 있느냐 할례를 받지 말라

고전7:19 할례 받는 것도 아무 것도 아니요 할례 받지 아니하는 것도 아무 것도 아니로되 오직 하나님의 계명을 지킬 따름이니라

고전7:20 각 사람은 부르심을 받은 그 부르심 그대로 지내라

고전7:21 네가 종으로 있을 때에 부르심을 받았느냐 염려하지 말라 그러나 네가 자유롭게 될 수 있거든 그것을 이용하라

고전7:22 주 안에서 부르심을 받은 자는 종이라도 주께 속한 자유인이요 또 그와 같이 자유인으로 있을 때에 부르심을 받은 자는 그리스도의 종이니라

고전7:23 너희는 값으로 사신 것이니 사람들의 종이 되지 말라

고전7:24 형제들아 너희는 각각 부르심을 받은 그대로 하나님과 함께 거하라

고전7:25 처녀에 대하여는 내가 주께 받은 계명이 없으되 주의 자비하심을 받아서 충성스러운 자가 된 내가 의견을 말하노니

고전7:26 내 생각에는 이것이 좋으니 곧 임박한 환난으로 말미암아 사람이 그냥 지내는 것이 좋으니라

고전7:27 네가 아내에게 매였느냐 놓이기를 구하지 말며 아내에게서 놓였느냐 아내를 구하지 말라

고전7:28 그러나 장가 가도 죄 짓는 것이 아니요 처녀가 시집 가도 죄 짓는 것이 아니로되 이런 이들은 육신에 고난이 있으리니 나는 너희를 아끼노라

고전7:29 형제들아 내가 이 말을 하노니 때가 단축하여진 고로 이후부터 아내 있는 자들은 없는 자 같이 하며

고전7:30 우는 자들은 울지 않는 자 같이 하며 기쁜 자 들은 기쁘지 않은 자 같이 하며 매매하는 자들은 없는 자 같이 하며

고전7:31 세상 물건을 쓰는 자들은 다 쓰지 못하는 자 같이 하라 이 세상의 외형은 지나감이니라

고전7:32 너희가 염려 없기를 원하노라 장가 가지 않은 자는 주의 일을 염려하여 어찌하여야 주를 기쁘시게 할까 하되

고전7:33 장가 간 자는 세상 일을 염려하여 어찌하여야 아내를 기쁘게 할까 하여

고전7:34 마음이 갈라지며 시집 가지 않은 자와 처녀는 주의 일을 염려하여 몸과 영을 다 거룩하게 하려 하되 시집 간 자는 세상 일을 염려하여 어찌하여야 남편을 기쁘게 할까 하느니라

고전7:35 내가 이것을 말함은 너희의 유익을 위함이요 너희에게 올무를 놓으려 함이 아니니 오직 너희로 하여금 이치에 합당하게 하여 흐트러짐이 없이 주를 섬기게 하려 함이라

고전7:36 그러므로 만일 누가 자기의 약혼녀에 대한 행동이 합당하지 못한 줄로 생각할 때에 그 약혼녀의 혼기도 지나고 그같이 할 필요가 있거든 원하는 대로 하라 그것은 죄 짓는 것이 아니니 그들로 결혼하게 하라

고전7:37 그러나 그가 마음을 정하고 또 부득이한 일도 없고 자기 뜻대로 할 권리가 있어서 그 약혼녀를 그대로 두기로 하여도 잘하는 것이니라

고전7:38 그러므로 결혼하는 자도 잘하거니와 결혼하지 아니하는 자는 더 잘하는 것이니라

고전7:39 아내가 그 남편이 살아 있는 동안에 매여 있다가 남편이 죽으면 자유로워 자기 뜻대로 시집 갈 것이나 주 안에서만 할 것이니라

고전7:40 그러나 내 뜻에는 그냥 지내는 것이 더욱 복이 있으리로다 나도 또한 하나님의 영을 받은 줄로 생각하노라

Exodus 3.

3:1 Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the desert and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

3:2 There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up.

3:3 So Moses thought, "I will go over and see this strange sight--why the bush does not burn up."

3:4 When the LORD saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, "Moses! Moses!" And Moses said, "Here I am."

3:5 "Do not come any closer," God said. "Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground."

3:6 Then he said, "I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob." At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.

3:7 The LORD said, "I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering.

3:8 So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey--the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites.

3:9 And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them.

3:10 So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt."

3:11 But Moses said to God, "Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?"

3:12 And God said, "I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain."

3:13 Moses said to God, "Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, 'What is his name?' Then what shall I tell them?"

3:14 God said to Moses, "I Am Who I Am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: 'I Am has sent me to you.'"

3:15 God also said to Moses, "Say to the Israelites, 'The LORD, the God of your fathers--the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob--has sent me to you.' This is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation.

3:16 "Go, assemble the elders of Israel and say to them, 'The LORD, the God of your fathers--the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob--appeared to me and said: I have watched over you and have seen what has been done to you in Egypt.

3:17 And I have promised to bring you up out of your misery in Egypt into the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites--a land flowing with milk and honey.'

3:18 "The elders of Israel will listen to you. Then you and the elders are to go to the king of Egypt and say to him, 'The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. Let us take a three-day journey into the desert to offer sacrifices to the LORD our God.'

3:19 But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go unless a mighty hand compels him.

3:20 So I will stretch out my hand and strike the Egyptians with all the wonders that I will perform among them. After that, he will let you go.

3:21 "And I will make the Egyptians favorably disposed toward this people, so that when you leave you will not go empty-handed.

3:22 Every woman is to ask her neighbor and any woman living in her house for articles of silver and gold and for clothing, which you will put on your sons and daughters. And so you will plunder the Egyptians."

Luke 6.

6:1 One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and his disciples began to pick some heads of grain, rub them in their hands and eat the kernels.

6:2 Some of the Pharisees asked, "Why are you doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?"

6:3 Jesus answered them, "Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry?

6:4 He entered the house of God, and taking the consecrated bread, he ate what is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions."

6:5 Then Jesus said to them, "The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."

6:6 On another Sabbath he went into the synagogue and was teaching, and a man was there whose right hand was shriveled.

6:7 The Pharisees and the teachers of the law were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely to see if he would heal on the Sabbath.

6:8 But Jesus knew what they were thinking and said to the man with the shriveled hand, "Get up and stand in front of everyone." So he got up and stood there.

6:9 Then Jesus said to them, "I ask you, which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy it?"

6:10 He looked around at them all, and then said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." He did so, and his hand was completely restored.

6:11 But they were furious and began to discuss with one another what they might do to Jesus.

6:12 One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God.

6:13 When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designated apostles:

6:14 Simon (whom he named Peter), his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew,

6:15 Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Simon who was called the Zealot,

6:16 Judas son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.

6:17 He went down with them and stood on a level place. A large crowd of his disciples was there and a great number of people from all over Judea, from Jerusalem, and from the coast of Tyre and Sidon,

6:18 who had come to hear him and to be healed of their diseases. Those troubled by evil spirits were cured,

6:19 and the people all tried to touch him, because power was coming from him and healing them all.

6:20 Looking at his disciples, he said: "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.

6:21 Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.

6:22 Blessed are you when men hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.

6:23 "Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their fathers treated the prophets.

6:24 "But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort.

6:25 Woe to you who are well fed now, for you will go hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep.

6:26 Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for that is how their fathers treated the false prophets.

6:27 "But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,

6:28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.

6:29 If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic.

6:30 Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back.

6:31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.

6:32 "If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' love those who love them.

6:33 And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' do that.

6:34 And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' lend to 'sinners,' expecting to be repaid in full.

6:35 But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.

6:36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

6:37 "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

6:38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

6:39 He also told them this parable: "Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit?

6:40 A student is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.

6:41 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?

6:42 How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,' when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

6:43 "No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit.

6:44 Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers.

6:45 The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.

6:46 "Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?

6:47 I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice.

6:48 He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.

6:49 But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete."

Job 20.

20:1 Then Zophar the Naamathite replied:

20:2 "My troubled thoughts prompt me to answer because I am greatly disturbed.

20:3 I hear a rebuke that dishonors me, and my understanding inspires me to reply.

20:4 "Surely you know how it has been from of old, ever since man was placed on the earth,

20:5 that the mirth of the wicked is brief, the joy of the godless lasts but a moment.

20:6 Though his pride reaches to the heavens and his head touches the clouds,

20:7 he will perish forever, like his own dung; those who have seen him will say, 'Where is he?'

20:8 Like a dream he flies away, no more to be found, banished like a vision of the night.

20:9 The eye that saw him will not see him again; his place will look on him no more.

20:10 His children must make amends to the poor; his own hands must give back his wealth.

20:11 The youthful vigor that fills his bones will lie with him in the dust.

20:12 "Though evil is sweet in his mouth and he hides it under his tongue,

20:13 though he cannot bear to let it go and keeps it in his mouth,

20:14 yet his food will turn sour in his stomach; it will become the venom of serpents within him.

20:15 He will spit out the riches he swallowed; God will make his stomach vomit them up.

20:16 He will suck the poison of serpents; the fangs of an adder will kill him.

20:17 He will not enjoy the streams, the rivers flowing with honey and cream.

20:18 What he toiled for he must give back uneaten; he will not enjoy the profit from his trading.

20:19 For he has oppressed the poor and left them destitute; he has seized houses he did not build.

20:20 "Surely he will have no respite from his craving; he cannot save himself by his treasure.

20:21 Nothing is left for him to devour; his prosperity will not endure.

20:22 In the midst of his plenty, distress will overtake him; the full force of misery will come upon him.

20:23 When he has filled his belly, God will vent his burning anger against him and rain down his blows upon him.

20:24 Though he flees from an iron weapon, a bronze-tipped arrow pierces him.

20:25 He pulls it out of his back, the gleaming point out of his liver. Terrors will come over him;

20:26 total darkness lies in wait for his treasures. A fire unfanned will consume him and devour what is left in his tent.

20:27 The heavens will expose his guilt; the earth will rise up against him.

20:28 A flood will carry off his house, rushing waters on the day of God's wrath.

20:29 Such is the fate God allots the wicked, the heritage appointed for them by God." JOB

1 Corinthians 7.

7:1 Now for the matters you wrote about: It is good for a man not to marry.

7:2 But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband.

7:3 The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband.

7:4 The wife's body does not belong to her alone but also to her husband. In the same way, the husband's body does not belong to him alone but also to his wife.

7:5 Do not deprive each other except by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

7:6 I say this as a concession, not as a command.

7:7 I wish that all men were as I am. But each man has his own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.

7:8 Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I am.

7:9 But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.

7:10 To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband.

7:11 But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife.

7:12 To the rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If any brother has a wife who is not a believer and she is willing to live with him, he must not divorce her.

7:13 And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to live with her, she must not divorce him.

7:14 For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified through her believing husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy.

7:15 But if the unbeliever leaves, let him do so. A believing man or woman is not bound in such circumstances; God has called us to live in peace.

7:16 How do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or, how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?

7:17 Nevertheless, each one should retain the place in life that the Lord assigned to him and to which God has called him. This is the rule I lay down in all the churches.

7:18 Was a man already circumcised when he was called? He should not become uncircumcised. Was a man uncircumcised when he was called? He should not be circumcised.

7:19 Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God's commands is what counts.

7:20 Each one should remain in the situation which he was in when God called him.

7:21 Were you a slave when you were called? Don't let it trouble you--although if you can gain your freedom, do so.

7:22 For he who was a slave when he was called by the Lord is the Lord's freedman; similarly, he who was a free man when he was called is Christ's slave.

7:23 You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men.

7:24 Brothers, each man, as responsible to God, should remain in the situation God called him to.

7:25 Now about virgins: I have no command from the Lord, but I give a judgment as one who by the Lord's mercy is trustworthy.

7:26 Because of the present crisis, I think that it is good for you to remain as you are.

7:27 Are you married? Do not seek a divorce. Are you unmarried? Do not look for a wife.

7:28 But if you do marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. But those who marry will face many troubles in this life, and I want to spare you this.

7:29 What I mean, brothers, is that the time is short. From now on those who have wives should live as if they had none;

7:30 those who mourn, as if they did not; those who are happy, as if they were not; those who buy something, as if it were not theirs to keep;

7:31 those who use the things of the world, as if not engrossed in them. For this world in its present form is passing away.

7:32 I would like you to be free from concern. An unmarried man is concerned about the Lord's affairs--how he can please the Lord.

7:33 But a married man is concerned about the affairs of this world--how he can please his wife--

7:34 and his interests are divided. An unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the Lord's affairs: Her aim is to be devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit. But a married woman is concerned about the affairs of this world--how she can please her husband.

7:35 I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but that you may live in a right way in undivided devotion to the Lord.

7:36 If anyone thinks he is acting improperly toward the virgin he is engaged to, and if she is getting along in years and he feels he ought to marry, he should do as he wants. He is not sinning. They should get married.

7:37 But the man who has settled the matter in his own mind, who is under no compulsion but has control over his own will, and who has made up his mind not to marry the virgin--this man also does the right thing.

7:38 So then, he who marries the virgin does right, but he who does not marry her does even better.

7:39 A woman is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes, but he must belong to the Lord.

7:40 In my judgment, she is happier if she stays as she is--and I think that I too have the Spirit of God.
