창세기 45 장.

창45:1 요셉이 시종하는 자들 앞에서 그 정을 억제하지 못하여 소리 질러 모든 사람을 자기에게서 물러가라 하고 그 형제들에게 자기를 알리니 그 때에 그와 함께 한 다른 사람이 없었더라

창45:2 요셉이 큰 소리로 우니 애굽 사람에게 들리며 바로의 궁중에 들리더라

창45:3 요셉이 그 형들에게 이르되 나는 요셉이라 내 아버지께서 아직 살아 계시니이까 형들이 그 앞에서 놀라서 대답하지 못하더라

창45:4 요셉이 형들에게 이르되 내게로 가까이 오소서 그들이 가까이 가니 이르되 나는 당신들의 아우 요셉이니 당신들이 애굽에 판 자라

창45:5 당신들이 나를 이 곳에 팔았다고 해서 근심하지 마소서 한탄하지 마소서 하나님이 생명을 구원하시려고 나를 당신들보다 먼저 보내셨나이다

창45:6 이 땅에 이 년 동안 흉년이 들었으나 아직 오 년은 밭갈이도 못하고 추수도 못할지라

창45:7 하나님이 큰 구원으로 당신들의 생명을 보존하고 당신들의 후손을 세상에 두시려고 나를 당신들보다 먼저 보내셨나니

창45:8 그런즉 나를 이리로 보낸 이는 당신들이 아니요 하나님이시라 하나님이 나를 바로에게 아버지로 삼으시고 그 온 집의 주로 삼으시며 애굽 온 땅의 통치자로 삼으셨나이다

창45:9 당신들은 속히 아버지께로 올라가서 아뢰기를 아버지의 아들 요셉의 말에 하나님이 나를 애굽 전국의 주로 세우셨으니 지체 말고 내게로 내려오사

창45:10 아버지의 아들들과 아버지의 손자들과 아버지의 양과 소와 모든 소유가 고센 땅에 머물며 나와 가깝게 하소서

창45:11 흉년이 아직 다섯 해가 있으니 내가 거기서 아버지를 봉양하리이다 아버지와 아버지의 가족과 아버지께 속한 모든 사람에게 부족함이 없도록 하겠나이다 하더라고 전하소서

창45:12 당신들의 눈과 내 아우 베냐민의 눈이 보는 바 당신들에게 이 말을 하는 것은 내 입이라

창45:13 당신들은 내가 애굽에서 누리는 영화와 당신들이 본 모든 것을 다 내 아버지께 아뢰고 속히 모시고 내려오소서 하며

창45:14 자기 아우 베냐민의 목을 안고 우니 베냐민도 요셉의 목을 안고 우니라

창45:15 요셉이 또 형들과 입맞추며 안고 우니 형들이 그제서야 요셉과 말하니라

창45:16 요셉의 형들이 왔다는 소문이 바로의 궁에 들리매 바로와 그의 신하들이 기뻐하고

창45:17 바로는 요셉에게 이르되 네 형들에게 명령하기를 너희는 이렇게 하여 너희 양식을 싣고 가서 가나안 땅에 이르거든

창45:18 너희 아버지와 너희 가족을 이끌고 내게로 오라 내가 너희에게 애굽의 좋은 땅을 주리니 너희가 나라의 기름진 것을 먹으리라

창45:19 이제 명령을 받았으니 이렇게 하라 너희는 애굽 땅에서 수레를 가져다가 너희 자녀와 아내를 태우고 너희 아버지를 모셔 오라

창45:20 또 너희의 기구를 아끼지 말라 온 애굽 땅의 좋은 것이 너희 것임이니라

창45:21 이스라엘의 아들들이 그대로 할 새 요셉이 바로의 명령대로 그들에게 수레를 주고 길 양식을 주며

창45:22 또 그들에게 다 각기 옷 한 벌씩을 주되 베냐민에게는 은 삼백과 옷 다섯 벌을 주고

창45:23 그가 또 이와 같이 그 아버지에게 보내되 수나귀 열 필에 애굽의 아름다운 물품을 실리고 암나귀 열 필에는 아버지에게 길에서 드릴 곡식과 떡과 양식을 실리고

창45:24 이에 형들을 돌려보내며 그들에게 이르되 당신들은 길에서 다투지 말라 하였더라

창45:25 그들이 애굽에서 올라와 가나안 땅으로 들어가서 아버지 야곱에게 이르러

창45:26 알리어 이르되 요셉이 지금까지 살아 있어 애굽 땅 총리가 되었더이다 야곱이 그들의 말을 믿지 못하여 어리둥절하더니

창45:27 그들이 또 요셉이 자기들에게 부탁한 모든 말로 그에게 말하매 그들의 아버지 야곱은 요셉이 자기를 태우려고 보낸 수레를 보고서야 기운이 소생한지라

창45:28 이스라엘이 이르되 족하도다 내 아들 요셉이 지금까지 살아 있으니 내가 죽기 전에 가서 그를 보리라 하니라

마가복음 15 장.

막15:1 새벽에 대제사장들이 즉시 장로들과 서기관들 곧 온 공회와 더불어 의논하고 예수를 결박하여 끌고 가서 빌라도에게 넘겨 주니

막15:2 빌라도가 묻되 네가 유대인의 왕이냐 예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 네 말이 옳도다 하시매

막15:3 대제사장들이 여러 가지로 고발하는지라

막15:4 빌라도가 또 물어 이르되 아무 대답도 없느냐 그들이 얼마나 많은 것으로 너를 고발하는가 보라 하되

막15:5 예수께서 다시 아무 말씀으로도 대답하지 아니하시니 빌라도가 놀랍게 여기더라

막15:6 명절이 되면 백성들이 요구하는 대로 죄수 한 사람을 놓아 주는 전례가 있더니

막15:7 민란을 꾸미고 그 민란중에 살인하고 체포된 자 중에 바라바라 하는 자가 있는지라

막15:8 무리가 나아가서 전례대로 하여 주기를 요구한대

막15:9 빌라도가 대답하여 이르되 너희는 내가 유대인의 왕을 너희에게 놓아 주기를 원하느냐 하니

막15:10 이는 그가 대제사장들이 시기로 예수를 넘겨 준 줄 앎이러라

막15:11 그러나 대제사장들이 무리를 충동하여 도리어 바라바를 놓아 달라 하게 하니

막15:12 빌라도가 또 대답하여 이르되 그러면 너희가 유대인의 왕이라 하는 이를 내가 어떻게 하랴

막15:13 그들이 다시 소리 지르되 그를 십자가에 못 박게 하소서

막15:14 빌라도가 이르되 어찜이냐 무슨 악한 일을 하였느냐 하니 더욱 소리 지르되 십자가에 못 박게 하소서 하는지라

막15:15 빌라도가 무리에게 만족을 주고자 하여 바라바는 놓아 주고 예수는 채찍질하고 십자가에 못 박히게 넘겨 주니라

막15:16 군인들이 예수를 끌고 브라이도리온이라는 뜰 안으로 들어가서 온 군대를 모으고

막15:17 예수에게 자색 옷을 입히고 가시관을 엮어 씌우고

막15:18 경례하여 이르되 유대인의 왕이여 평안할지어다 하고

막15:19 갈대로 그의 머리를 치며 침을 뱉으며 꿇어 절하더라

막15:20 희롱을 다한 후 자색 옷을 벗기고 도로 그의 옷을 입히고 십자가에 못 박으려고 끌고 나가니라

막15:21 마침 알렉산더와 루포의 아버지인 구레네 사람 시몬이 시골로부터 와서 지나가는데 그들이 그를 억지로 같이 가게 하여 예수의 십자가를 지우고

막15:22 예수를 끌고 골고다라 하는 곳(번역하면 해골의 곳)에 이르러

막15:23 몰약을 탄 포도주를 주었으나 예수께서 받지 아니하시니라

막15:24 십자가에 못 박고 그 옷을 나눌새 누가 어느 것을 가질까 하여 제비를 뽑더라

막15:25 때가 제삼시가 되어 십자가에 못박으니라

막15:26 그 위에 있는 죄패에 유대인의 왕이라 썼고

막15:27 강도 둘을 예수와 함께 십자가에 못 박으니 하나는 그의 우편에, 하나는 좌편에 있더라

막15:28 (없 음)

막15:29 지나가는 자들은 자기 머리를 흔들며 예수를 모욕하여 이르되 아하 성전을 헐고 사흘에 짓는다는 자여

막15:30 네가 너를 구원하여 십자가에서 내려오라 하고

막15:31 그와 같이 대제사장들도 서기관들과 함께 희롱하며 서로 말하되 그가 남은 구원하였으되 자기는 구원할 수 없도다

막15:32 이스라엘의 왕 그리스도가 지금 십자가에서 내려와 우리가 보고 믿게 할지어다 하며 함께 십자가에 못 박힌 자들도 예수를 욕하더라

막15:33 제육시가 되매 온 땅에 어둠이 임하여 제구시까지 계속하더니

막15:34 제구시에 예수께서 크게 소리 지르시되 엘리 엘리 라마 사박다니 하시니 이를 번역하면 나의 하나님, 나의 하나님 어찌하여 나를 버리셨나이까 하는 뜻이라

막15:35 곁에 섰던 자 중 어떤 이들이 듣고 이르되 보라 엘리야를 부른다 하고

막15:36 한 사람이 달려가서 해면에 신 포도주를 적시어 갈대에 꿰어 마시게하고 이르되 가만 두라 엘리야가 와서 그를 내려 주나 보자 하더라

막15:37 예수께서 큰 소리를 지르시고 숨지시니라

막15:38 이에 성소 휘장이 위로부터 아래까지 찢어져 둘이 되니라

막15:39 예수를 향하여 섰던 백부장이 그렇게 숨지심을 보고 이르되 이 사람은 진실로 하나님의 아들이었도다 하더라

막15:40 멀리서 바라보는 여자들도 있었는데 그 중에 막달라 마리아와 또 작은 야고보와 요세의 어머니 마리아와 또 살로메가 있었으니

막15:41 이들은 예수께서 갈릴리에 계실 때에 따르며 섬기던 자들이요 또 이 외에 예수와 함께 예루살렘에 올라온 여자들도 많이 있었더라

막15:42 이 날은 준비일 곧 안식일 전날이므로 저물었을 때에

막15:43 아리마대 사람 요셉이 와서 당돌히 빌라도에게 들어가 예수의 시체를 달라 하니 이 사람은 존경 받는 공회원이요 하나님의 나라를 기다리는 자라

막15:44 빌라도는 예수께서 벌써 죽었을까 하고 이상히 여겨 백부장을 불러 죽은지 오래냐 묻고

막15:45 백부장에게 알아 본 후에 요셉에게 시체를 내주는지라

막15:46 요셉이 세마포를 사고 예수를 내려다가 그것으로 싸서 바위 속에 판 무덤에 넣어 두고 돌을 굴려 무덤 문에 놓으매

막15:47 막달라 마리아와 요세의 어머니 마리아가 예수 둔 곳을 보더라

욥기 11 장.

욥11:1 나아마 사람 소발이 대답하여 이르되

욥11:2 말이 많으니 어찌 대답이 없으랴 말이 많은 사람이 어찌 의롭다 함을 얻겠느냐

욥11:3 네 자랑하는 말이 어떻게 사람으로 잠잠하게 하겠으며 네가 비웃으면 어찌 너를 부끄럽게 할 사람이 없겠느냐

욥11:4 네 말에 의하면 내 도는 정결하고 나는 주께서 보시기에 깨끗하다 하는구나

욥11:5 하나님은 말씀을 내시며 너를 향하여 입을 여시고

욥11:6 지혜의 오묘함으로 네게 보이시기를 원하노니 이는 그의 지식이 광대하심이라 하나님께서 너로 하여금 너의 죄를 잊게 하여 주셨음을 알라

욥11:7 네가 하나님의 오묘함을 어찌 능히 측량하며 전능자를 어찌 능히 완전히 알겠느냐

욥11:8 하늘보다 높으시니 네가 무엇을 하겠으며 스올보다 깊으시니 네가 어찌 알겠느냐

욥11:9 그의 크심은 땅보다 길고 바다 넓으니라

욥11:10 하나님이 두루 다니시며 사람을 잡아 가두시고 재판을 여시면 누가 능히 막을소냐

욥11:11 하나님은 허망한 사람을 아시나니 악한 일은 상관하지 않으시는 듯하나 다 보시느니라

욥11:12 허망한 사람은 지각이 없나니 그의 출생함이 들나귀 새끼 같으니라

욥11:13 만일 네가 마음을 바로 정하고 주를 향하여 손을 들 때에

욥11:14 네 손에 죄악이 있거든 멀리 버리라 불의가 네 장막에 있지 못하게 하라

욥11:15 그리하면 네가 반드시 흠 없는 얼굴을 들게 되고 굳게 서서 두려움이 없으리니

욥11:16 곧 네 환난을 잊을 것이라 네가 기억할지라도 물이 흘러감 같을 것이며

욥11:17 네 생명의 날이 대낮보다 밝으리니 어둠이 있다 할지라도 아침과 같이 될 것이요

욥11:18 네가 희망이 있으므로 안전할 것이며 두루 살펴보고 평안히 쉬리라

욥11:19 네가 누워도 두렵게 할 자가 없겠고 많은 사람이 네게 은혜를 구하리라

욥11:20 그러나 악한 자들은 눈이 어두워서 도망할 곳을 찾지 못하리니 그들의 희망은 숨을 거두는 것이니라

로 마 서 15 장.

롬15:1 믿음이 강한 우리는 마땅히 믿음이 약한 자의 약점을 담당하고 자기를 기쁘게 하지 아니할 것이라

롬15:2 우리 각 사람이 이웃을 기쁘게 하되 선을 이루고 덕을 세우도록 할지니라

롬15:3 그리스도께서도 자기를 기쁘게 하지 아니하셨나니 기록된 바 주를 비방하는 자들의 비방이 내게 미쳤나이다 함과 같으니라

롬15:4 무엇이든지 전에 기록된 바는 우리의 교훈을 위하여 기록된 것이니 우리로 하여금 인내로 또는 성경의 위로로 소망을 가지게 함이니라

롬15:5 이제 인내와 위로의 하나님이 너희로 그리스도 예수를 본받아 서로 뜻이 같게 하여 주사

롬15:6 한마음과 한 입으로 하나님 곧 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하려 하노라

롬15:7 그러므로 그리스도께서 우리를 받아 하나님께 영광을 돌리심과 같이 너희도 서로 받으라

롬15:8 내가 말하노니 그리스도께서 하나님의 진실하심을 위하여 할례의 추종자가 되셨으니 이는 조상들에게 주신 약속을 견고하게 하시고

롬15:9 이방인들도 그 긍휼하심으로 말미암아 하나님께 영광을 돌리게 하려 하심이라 기록된바 그러므로 내가 열방 중에서 주께 감사하고 주의 이름을 찬송하리로다 함과 같으니라

롬15:10 또 이르되 열방들아 주의 백성과 함께 즐거워하라 하였으며

롬15:11 또 모든 열방들아 주를 찬양하며 모든 백성들아 그를 찬송하라 하였으며

롬15:12 또 이사야가 이르되 이새의 뿌리 곧 열방을 다스리기 위하여 일어나시는 이가 있으리니 열방이 그에게 소망을 두리라 하였느니라

롬15:13 소망의 하나님이 모든 기쁨과 평강을 믿음 안에서 너희에게 충만하게 하사 성령의 능력으로 소망이 넘치게 하시기를 원하노라

롬15:14 내 형제들아 너희가 스스로 선함이 가득하고 모든 지식이 차서 능히 서로 권하는 자임을 나도 확신하노라

롬15:15 그러나 내가 너희로 다시 생각나게 하려고 하나님께서 내게 주신 은혜로 말미암아 더욱 담대히 대략 너희에게 썼노니

롬15:16 이 은혜는 곧 나로 이방인을 위하여 그리스도 예수의 일꾼이 되어 하나님의 복음의 제사장 직분을 하게 하사 이방인을 제물로 드리는 것이 성령 안에서 거룩하게 되어 받으실 만하게 하려 하심이라

롬15:17 그러므로 내가 그리스도 예수 안에서 하나님의 일에 대하여 자랑하는 것이 있거니와

롬15:18 그리스도께서 이방인들을 순종하게 하기 위하여 나를 통하여 역사하신 것 외에는 내가 감히 말하지 아니하노라 그 일은 말과 행위로

롬15:19 표적과 기사의 능력으로 성령의 능력으로 이루어졌으며 그리하여 내가 예루살렘으로부터 두루 행하여 일루리곤까지 그리스도의 복음을 편만하게 전하였노라

롬15:20 또 내가 그리스도의 이름을 부르는 곳에는 복음을 전하지 않기를 힘썼노니 이는 남의 터 위에 건축하지 아니하려 함이라

롬15:21 기록된 바 주의 소식을 받지 못한 자들이 볼 것이요 듣지 못한 자들이 깨달으리라 함과 같으니라

롬15:22 그러므로 또한 내가 너희에게 가려 하던 것이 여러 번 막혔더니

롬15:23 이제는 이 지방에 일할 곳이 없고 또 여러 해 전부터 언제든지 서바나로 갈 때에 너희에게 가기를 바라고 있었으니

롬15:24 이는 지나가는 길에 너희를 보고 먼저 너희와 사귐으로 얼마간 기쁨을 가진 후에 너희가 그리로 보내주기를 바람이라

롬15:25 그러나 이제는 내가 성도를 섬기는 일로 예루살렘에 가노니

롬15:26 이는 마게도냐와 아가야 사람들이 예루살렘 성도 중 가난한 자들을 위하여 기쁘게 얼마를 연보 하였음이라

롬15:27 저희가 기뻐서 하였거니와 또한 저희는 그들에게 빚진 자니 만일 이방인들이 그들의 영적인 것을 나눠 가졌으면 육적인 것으로 그들을 섬기는 것이 마땅하니라

롬15:28 그러므로 내가 이 일을 마치고 이 열매를 그들에게 확증한 후에 너희에게 들렀다가 서바나로 가리라

롬15:29 내가 너희에게 나아갈 때에 그리스도의 충만한 복을 가지고 갈 줄을 아노라

롬15:30 형제들아 내가 우리 주 예수 그리스도와 성령의 사랑으로 말미암아 너희를 권하노니 너희 기도에 나와 힘을 같이하여 나를 위하여 하나님께 빌어

롬15:31 나로 유대에서 순종하지 아니하는 자들로부터 건짐을 받게 하고 또 예루살렘에 대하여 내가 섬기는 일을 성도들이 받을 만하게 하고

롬15:32 나로 하나님의 뜻을 따라 기쁨으로 너희에게 나아가 너희와 함께 편히 쉬게 하라

롬15:33 평강의 하나님께서 너희 모든 사람과 함께 계실지어다 아멘

Genesis 45.

45:1 Then Joseph could no longer control himself before all his attendants, and he cried out, "Have everyone leave my presence!" So there was no one with Joseph when he made himself known to his brothers.

45:2 And he wept so loudly that the Egyptians heard him, and Pharaoh's household heard about it.

45:3 Joseph said to his brothers, "I am Joseph! Is my father still living?" But his brothers were not able to answer him, because they were terrified at his presence.

45:4 Then Joseph said to his brothers, "Come close to me." When they had done so, he said, "I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into Egypt!

45:5 And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you.

45:6 For two years now there has been famine in the land, and for the next five years there will not be plowing and reaping.

45:7 But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance.

45:8 "So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God. He made me father to Pharaoh, lord of his entire household and ruler of all Egypt.

45:9 Now hurry back to my father and say to him, 'This is what your son Joseph says: God has made me lord of all Egypt. Come down to me; don't delay.

45:10 You shall live in the region of Goshen and be near me--you, your children and grandchildren, your flocks and herds, and all you have.

45:11 I will provide for you there, because five years of famine are still to come. Otherwise you and your household and all who belong to you will become destitute.'

45:12 "You can see for yourselves, and so can my brother Benjamin, that it is really I who am speaking to you.

45:13 Tell my father about all the honor accorded me in Egypt and about everything you have seen. And bring my father down here quickly."

45:14 Then he threw his arms around his brother Benjamin and wept, and Benjamin embraced him, weeping.

45:15 And he kissed all his brothers and wept over them. Afterward his brothers talked with him.

45:16 When the news reached Pharaoh's palace that Joseph's brothers had come, Pharaoh and all his officials were pleased.

45:17 Pharaoh said to Joseph, "Tell your brothers, 'Do this: Load your animals and return to the land of Canaan,

45:18 and bring your father and your families back to me. I will give you the best of the land of Egypt and you can enjoy the fat of the land.'

45:19 "You are also directed to tell them, 'Do this: Take some carts from Egypt for your children and your wives, and get your father and come.

45:20 Never mind about your belongings, because the best of all Egypt will be yours.'"

45:21 So the sons of Israel did this. Joseph gave them carts, as Pharaoh had commanded, and he also gave them provisions for their journey.

45:22 To each of them he gave new clothing, but to Benjamin he gave three hundred shekels of silver and five sets of clothes.

45:23 And this is what he sent to his father: ten donkeys loaded with the best things of Egypt, and ten female donkeys loaded with grain and bread and other provisions for his journey.

45:24 Then he sent his brothers away, and as they were leaving he said to them, "Don't quarrel on the way!"

45:25 So they went up out of Egypt and came to their father Jacob in the land of Canaan.

45:26 They told him, "Joseph is still alive! In fact, he is ruler of all Egypt." Jacob was stunned; he did not believe them.

45:27 But when they told him everything Joseph had said to them, and when he saw the carts Joseph had sent to carry him back, the spirit of their father Jacob revived.

45:28 And Israel said, "I'm convinced! My son Joseph is still alive. I will go and see him before I die."

Mark 15.

15:1 Very early in the morning, the chief priests, with the elders, the teachers of the law and the whole Sanhedrin, reached a decision. They bound Jesus, led him away and handed him over to Pilate.

15:2 "Are you the king of the Jews?" asked Pilate. "Yes, it is as you say," Jesus replied.

15:3 The chief priests accused him of many things.

15:4 So again Pilate asked him, "Aren't you going to answer? See how many things they are accusing you of."

15:5 But Jesus still made no reply, and Pilate was amazed.

15:6 Now it was the custom at the Feast to release a prisoner whom the people requested.

15:7 A man called Barabbas was in prison with the insurrectionists who had committed murder in the uprising.

15:8 The crowd came up and asked Pilate to do for them what he usually did.

15:9 "Do you want me to release to you the king of the Jews?" asked Pilate,

15:10 knowing it was out of envy that the chief priests had handed Jesus over to him.

15:11 But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to have Pilate release Barabbas instead.

15:12 "What shall I do, then, with the one you call the king of the Jews?" Pilate asked them.

15:13 "Crucify him!" they shouted.

15:14 "Why? What crime has he committed?" asked Pilate. But they shouted all the louder, "Crucify him!"

15:15 Wanting to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas to them. He had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified.

15:16 The soldiers led Jesus away into the palace (that is, the Praetorium) and called together the whole company of soldiers.

15:17 They put a purple robe on him, then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on him.

15:18 And they began to call out to him, "Hail, king of the Jews!"

15:19 Again and again they struck him on the head with a staff and spit on him. Falling on their knees, they paid homage to him.

15:20 And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him out to crucify him.

15:21 A certain man from Cyrene, Simon, the father of Alexander and Rufus, was passing by on his way in from the country, and they forced him to carry the cross.

15:22 They brought Jesus to the place called Golgotha (which means The Place of the Skull).

15:23 Then they offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it.

15:24 And they crucified him. Dividing up his clothes, they cast lots to see what each would get.

15:25 It was the third hour when they crucified him.

15:26 The written notice of the charge against him read: THE KING OF THE JEWS.

15:27 They crucified two robbers with him, one on his right and one on his left.

15:28

15:29 Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads and saying, "So! You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days,

15:30 come down from the cross and save yourself!"

15:31 In the same way the chief priests and the teachers of the law mocked him among themselves. "He saved others," they said, "but he can't save himself!

15:32 Let this Christ, this King of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe." Those crucified with him also heaped insults on him.

15:33 At the sixth hour darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour.

15:34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?"--which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"

15:35 When some of those standing near heard this, they said, "Listen, he's calling Elijah."

15:36 One man ran, filled a sponge with wine vinegar, put it on a stick, and offered it to Jesus to drink. "Now leave him alone. Let's see if Elijah comes to take him down," he said.

15:37 With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last.

15:38 The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.

15:39 And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, heard his cry and saw how he died, he said, "Surely this man was the Son of God!"

15:40 Some women were watching from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and Salome.

15:41 In Galilee these women had followed him and cared for his needs. Many other women who had come up with him to Jerusalem were also there.

15:42 It was Preparation Day (that is, the day before the Sabbath). So as evening approached,

15:43 Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent member of the Council, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, went boldly to Pilate and asked for Jesus' body.

15:44 Pilate was surprised to hear that he was already dead. Summoning the centurion, he asked him if Jesus had already died.

15:45 When he learned from the centurion that it was so, he gave the body to Joseph.

15:46 So Joseph bought some linen cloth, took down the body, wrapped it in the linen, and placed it in a tomb cut out of rock. Then he rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb.

15:47 Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses saw where he was laid.

Job 11.

11:1 Then Zophar the Naamathite replied:

11:2 "Are all these words to go unanswered? Is this talker to be vindicated?

11:3 Will your idle talk reduce men to silence? Will no one rebuke you when you mock?

11:4 You say to God, 'My beliefs are flawless and I am pure in your sight.'

11:5 Oh, how I wish that God would speak, that he would open his lips against you

11:6 and disclose to you the secrets of wisdom, for true wisdom has two sides. Know this: God has even forgotten some of your sin.

11:7 "Can you fathom the mysteries of God? Can you probe the limits of the Almighty?

11:8 They are higher than the heavens--what can you do? They are deeper than the depths of the grave--what can you know?

11:9 Their measure is longer than the earth and wider than the sea.

11:10 "If he comes along and confines you in prison and convenes a court, who can oppose him?

11:11 Surely he recognizes deceitful men; and when he sees evil, does he not take note?

11:12 But a witless man can no more become wise than a wild donkey's colt can be born a man.

11:13 "Yet if you devote your heart to him and stretch out your hands to him,

11:14 if you put away the sin that is in your hand and allow no evil to dwell in your tent,

11:15 then you will lift up your face without shame; you will stand firm and without fear.

11:16 You will surely forget your trouble, recalling it only as waters gone by.

11:17 Life will be brighter than noonday, and darkness will become like morning.

11:18 You will be secure, because there is hope; you will look about you and take your rest in safety.

11:19 You will lie down, with no one to make you afraid, and many will court your favor.

11:20 But the eyes of the wicked will fail, and escape will elude them; their hope will become a dying gasp."

Romans 15.

15:1 We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves.

15:2 Each of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.

15:3 For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: "The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me."

15:4 For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

15:5 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus,

15:6 so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

15:7 Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.

15:8 For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews on behalf of God's truth, to confirm the promises made to the patriarchs

15:9 so that the Gentiles may glorify God for his mercy, as it is written: "Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles; I will sing hymns to your name."

15:10 Again, it says, "Rejoice, O Gentiles, with his people."

15:11 And again, "Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles, and sing praises to him, all you peoples."

15:12 And again, Isaiah says, "The Root of Jesse will spring up, one who will arise to rule over the nations; the Gentiles will hope in him."

15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

15:14 I myself am convinced, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, complete in knowledge and competent to instruct one another.

15:15 I have written you quite boldly on some points, as if to remind you of them again, because of the grace God gave me

15:16 to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles with the priestly duty of proclaiming the gospel of God, so that the Gentiles might become an offering acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

15:17 Therefore I glory in Christ Jesus in my service to God.

15:18 I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obey God by what I have said and done--

15:19 by the power of signs and miracles, through the power of the Spirit. So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ.

15:20 It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else's foundation.

15:21 Rather, as it is written: "Those who were not told about him will see, and those who have not heard will understand."

15:22 This is why I have often been hindered from coming to you.

15:23 But now that there is no more place for me to work in these regions, and since I have been longing for many years to see you,

15:24 I plan to do so when I go to Spain. I hope to visit you while passing through and to have you assist me on my journey there, after I have enjoyed your company for a while.

15:25 Now, however, I am on my way to Jerusalem in the service of the saints there.

15:26 For Macedonia and Achaia were pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the saints in Jerusalem.

15:27 They were pleased to do it, and indeed they owe it to them. For if the Gentiles have shared in the Jews' spiritual blessings, they owe it to the Jews to share with them their material blessings.

15:28 So after I have completed this task and have made sure that they have received this fruit, I will go to Spain and visit you on the way.

15:29 I know that when I come to you, I will come in the full measure of the blessing of Christ.

15:30 I urge you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me.

15:31 Pray that I may be rescued from the unbelievers in Judea and that my service in Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints there,

15:32 so that by God's will I may come to you with joy and together with you be refreshed.

15:33 The God of peace be with you all. Amen.
