창세기 41 장.

창41:1 만 이 년 후에 바로가 꿈을 꾼즉 자기가 나일 강 가에 서 있는데

창41:2 보니 아름답고 살진 일곱 암소가 강 가에서 올라와 갈밭에서 뜯어먹고

창41:3 그 뒤에 또 흉하고 파리한 다른 일곱 암소가 나일 강 가에서 올라와 그 소와 함께 나일 강 가에 서 있더니

창41:4 그 흉하고 파리한 소가 그 아름답고 살진 일곱 소를 먹은 지라 바로가 곧 깨었다가

창41:5 다시 잠이 들어 꿈을 꾸니 한 줄기에 무성하고 충실한 일곱 이삭이 나오고

창41:6 그 후에 또 가늘고 동풍에 마른 일곱 이삭이 나오더니

창41:7 그 가는 일곱 이삭이 무성하고 충실한 일곱 이삭을 삼킨지라 바로가 깬즉 꿈이라

창41:8 아침에 그의 마음이 번민하여 사람을 보내어 애굽의 점술가와 현인들을 모두 불러 그들에게 그의 꿈을 말하였으나 그것을 바로에게 해석하는 자가 없었더라

창41:9 술 맡은 관원장이 바로에게 말하여 이르되 내가 오늘 내 죄를 기억하나이다

창41:10 바로께서 종들에게 노하사 나와 떡 굽는 관원장을 친위대장의 집에 가두셨을 때에

창41:11 나와 그가 하룻밤에 꿈을 꾼즉 각기 뜻이 있는 꿈이라

창41:12 그 곳에 친위대장의 종 된 히브리 청년이 우리와 함께 있기로 우리가 그에게 말하매 그가 우리의 꿈을 풀되 그 꿈대로 각 사람에게 해석하더니

창41:13 그 해석한 대로 되어 나는 복직되고 그는 매달렸나이다

창41:14 이에 바로가 사람을 보내어 요셉을 부르매 그들이 급히 그를 옥에서 내 놓은지라 요셉이 곧 수염을 깎고 그의 옷을 갈아 입고 바로에게 들어가니

창41:15 바로가 요셉에게 이르되 내가 한 꿈을 꾸었으나 그것을 해석하는 자가 없더니 들은즉 너는 꿈을 들으면 능히 푼다 하더라

창41:16 요셉이 바로에게 대답하여 이르되 내가 아니라 하나님께서 바로에게 편안한 대답을 하시리이다

창41:17 바로가 요셉에게 이르되 내가 꿈에 나일 강 가에 서서

창41:18 보니 살지고 아름다운 일곱 암소가 나일 강 가에 올라와 갈밭에서 뜯어먹고

창41:19 그 뒤에 또 약하고 심히 흉하고 파리한 일곱 암소가 올라오니 그 같이 흉한 것들은 애굽 땅에서 내가 아직 보지 못한 것이라

창41:20 그 파리하고 흉한 소가 처음의 일곱 살진 소를 먹었으며

창41:21 먹었으나 먹은 듯 하지 아니하고 여전히 흉하더라 내가 곧 깨었다가

창41:22 다시 꿈에 보니 한 줄기에 무성하고 충실한 일곱 이삭이 나오고

창41:23 그 후에 또 가늘고 동풍에 마른 일곱 이삭이 나더니

창41:24 그 가는 이삭이 좋은 일곱 이삭을 삼키더라 내가 그 꿈을 점술가에게 말하였으나 그것을 내게 풀이해 주는 자가 없느니라

창41:25 요셉이 바로에게 아뢰되 바로의 꿈은 하나라 하나님이 그가 하실 일을 바로에게 보이심이니이다

창41:26 일곱 좋은 암소는 일곱 해요 일곱 좋은 이삭도 일곱 해니 그 꿈은 하나라

창41:27 그 후에 올라온 파리하고 흉한 일곱 소는 칠 년이요 동풍에 말라 속이 빈 일곱 이삭도 일곱 해 흉년이니

창41:28 내가 바로에게 이르기를 하나님이 그가 하실 일을 바로에게 보이신다 함이 이것이라

창41:29 온 애굽 땅에 일곱 해 큰 풍년이 있겠고

창41:30 후에 일곱 해 흉년이 들므로 애굽 땅에 있던 풍년을 다 잊어버리게 되고 이 땅이 그 기근으로 망하리니

창41:31 후에 든 그 흉년이 너무 심하므로 이전 풍년을 이 땅에서 기억하지 못하게 되리이다

창41:32 바로께서 꿈을 두 번 겹쳐 꾸신 것은 하나님이 이 일을 정하셨음이라 하나님이 속히 행하시리니

창41:33 이제 바로께서는 명철하고 지혜 있는 사람을 택하여 애굽 땅을 다스리게 하시고

창41:34 바로께서는 또 이같이 행하사 나라 안에 감독관들을 두어 그 일곱 해 풍년에 애굽 땅의 오분의 일을 거두되

창41:35 그들로 장차 올 풍년의 모든 곡물을 거두고 그 곡물을 바로의 손에 돌려 양식을 위하여 각 성읍에 쌓아 두게 하소서

창41:36 이와 같이 그 곡물을 이 땅에 저장하여 애굽 땅에 임할 일곱 해 흉년에 대비하시면 땅이 이 흉년으로 말미암아 망하지 아니하리이다

창41:37 바로와 그의 모든 신하가 이 일을 좋게 여긴지라

창41:38 바로가 그의 신하들에게 이르되 이와 같이 하나님의 영에 감동된 사람을 우리가 어찌 찾을 수 있으리요 하고

창41:39 요셉에게 이르되 하나님이 이 모든 것을 네게 보이셨으니 너와 같이 명철하고 지혜 있는 자가 없도다

창41:40 너는 내 집을 다스리라 내 백성이 다 네 명령에 복종하리니 내가 너보다 높은 것은 내 왕좌뿐이니라

창41:41 바로가 또 요셉에게 이르되 내가 너를 애굽 온 땅의 총리가 되게 하노라 하고

창41:42 자기의 인장 반지를 빼어 요셉의 손에 끼우고 그에게 세마포 옷을 입히고 금 사슬을 목에 걸고

창41:43 자기에게 있는 버금 수레에 그를 태우매 무리가 그의 앞에서 소리 지르기를 엎드리라 하더라 바로가 그에게 애굽 전국을 총리로 다스리게 하였더라

창41:44 바로가 요셉에게 이르되 나는 바로라 애굽 온 땅에서 네 허락이 없이는 수족을 놀릴 자가 없으리라 하고

창41:45 그가 요셉의 이름을 사브낫바네아라 하고 또 온의 제사장 보디베라의 딸 아스낫을 그에게 주어 아내로 삼게 하니라 요셉이 나가 애굽 온 땅을 순찰하니라

창41:46 요셉이 애굽 왕 바로 앞에 설 때에 삼십 세라 그가 바로 앞을 떠나 애굽 온 땅을 순찰하니

창41:47 일곱 해 풍년에 토지 소출이 심히 많은지라

창41:48 요셉이 애굽 땅에 있는 그 칠 년 곡물을 거두어 각 성에 저장하되 각 성읍 주위의 밭의 곡물을 그 성읍 중에 쌓아 두매

창41:49 쌓아 둔 곡식이 바다 모래 같이 심히 많아 세기를 그쳤으니 그 수가 한이 없음이었더라

창41:50 흉년이 들기 전에 요셉에게 두 아들이 나되 곧 온의 제사장 보디베라의 딸 아스낫이 그에게서 낳은지라

창41:51 요셉이 그의 장남의 이름을 므낫세라 하였으니 하나님이 내게 내 모든 고난과 내 아버지의 온 집 일을 잊어버리게 하셨다 함이요

창41:52 차남의 이름을 에브라임이라 하였으니 하나님이 나를 내가 수고한 땅에서 번성하게 하셨다 함이었더라

창41:53 애굽 땅에 일곱 해 풍년이 그치고

창41:54 요셉의 말과 같이 일곱 해 흉년이 들기 시작하매 각국에는 기근이 있으나 애굽 온 땅에는 먹을 것이 있더니

창41:55 애굽 온 땅이 굶주리매 백성이 바로에게 부르짖어 양식을 구하는지라 바로가 애굽 모든 백성에게 이르되 요셉에게 가서 그가 너희에게 이르는 대로 하라 하리라

창41:56 온 지면에 기근이 있으매 요셉이 모든 창고를 열고 애굽 백성에게 팔새 애굽 땅에 기근이 심하며

창41:57 각국 백성도 양식을 사려고 애굽으로 들어와 요셉에게 이르렀으니 기근이 온 세상에 심함이었더라

마가복음 11 장.

막11:1 그들이 예루살렘에 가까이 와서 감람 산 벳바게와 베다니에 이르렀을 때에 예수께서 제자 중 둘을 보내시며

막11:2 이르시되 너희 맞은편 마을로 가라 그리로 들어가면 곧 아직 아무도 타 보지 않은 나귀 새끼가 매여 있는 것을 보리니 풀어 끌고 오라

막11:3 만일 누가 너희에게 왜 이렇게 하느냐 묻거든 주가 쓰시겠다 하라 그리하면 즉시 이리로 보내리라 하시니

막11:4 제자들이 가서 본즉 나귀 새끼가 문 앞 거리에 매여 있는지라 그것을 푸니

막11:5 거기 서 있는 사람 중 어떤 이들이 이르되 나귀 새끼를 풀어 무엇하려느냐 하매

막11:6 제자들이 예수께서 이르신대로 말한대 이에 허락하는지라

막11:7 나귀 새끼를 예수께로 끌고 와서 자기들의 겉옷을 그 위에 얹어 놓으매 예수께서 타시니

막11:8 많은 사람들은 자기들의 겉옷을, 또 다른 이들은 들에서 벤 나뭇가지를 길에 펴며

막11:9 앞에서 가고 뒤에서 따르는 자들이 소리 지르되 호산나 찬송하리로다 주의 이름으로 오시는 이여

막11:10 찬송하리로다 오는 우리 조상 다윗의 나라여 가장 높은 곳에서 호산나 하더라

막11:11 예수께서 예루살렘에 이르러 성전에 들어가사 모든 것을 둘러 보시고 때가 이미 저물매 열두 제자를 데리시고 베다니에 나가시니라

막11:12 이튿날 그들이 베다니에서 나왔을 때에 예수께서 시장하신지라

막11:13 멀리서 잎사귀 있는 한 무화과나무를 보시고 혹 그 나무에 무엇이 있을까 하여 가셨더니 가서 보신즉 잎사귀 외에 아무 것도 없더라 이는 무화과의 때가 아님이라

막11:14 예수께서 나무에게 말씀하여 이르시되 이제부터 영원토록 사람이 네게서 열매를 따 먹지 못하리라 하시니 제자들이 이를 듣더라

막11:15 그들이 예루살렘에 들어가니라 예수께서 성전에 들어가사 성전 안에서 매매하는 자들을 내쫓으시며 돈 바꾸는 자들의 상과 비둘기 파는 자들의 의자를 둘러 엎으시며

막11:16 아무나 물건을 가지고 성전 안으로 지나다님을 허락하지 아니하시고

막11:17 이에 가르쳐 이르시되 기록된 바 내 집은 만민이 기도하는 집이라 칭함을 받으리라고 하지 아니하였느냐 너희는 강도의 소굴을 만들었도다 하시매

막11:18 대제사장들과 서기관들이 듣고 예수를 어떻게 죽일까 하고 꾀하니 이는 무리가 다 그의 교훈을 놀랍게 여기므로 그를 두려워함일러라

막11:19 그리고 날이 저물매 그들이 성 밖으로 나가더라

막11:20 그들이 아침에 지나갈 때에 무화과나무가 뿌리째 마른 것을 보고

막11:21 베드로가 생각이 나서 여짜오되 랍비여 보소서 저주하신 무화과나무가 말랐나이다

막11:22 예수께서 그들에게 대답하여 이르시되 하나님을 믿으라

막11:23 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 누구든지 이 산더러 들리어 바다에 던져지라 하며 그 말하는 것이 이루어질 줄 믿고 마음에 의심하지 아니하면 그대로 되리라

막11:24 그러므로 내가 너희에게 말하노니 무엇이든지 기도하고 구하는 것은 받은 줄로 믿으라 그리하면 너희에게 그대로 되리라

막11:25 서서 기도할 때에 아무에게나 혐의가 있거든 용서하라 그리하여야 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께서도 너희 허물을 사하여 주시리라 하시니라

막11:26 (없 음)

막11:27 그들이 다시 예루살렘에 들어가니라 예수께서 성전에서 거니실 때에 대제사장들과 서기관들과 장로들이 나아와

막11:28 이르되 무슨 권위로 이런 일을 하느냐 누가 이런 일 할 권위를 주었느냐

막11:29 예수께서 이르시되 나도 한 말을 너희에게 물으리니 대답하라 그리하면 나도 무슨 권위로 이런 일을 하는지 이르리라

막11:30 요한의 세례가 하늘로부터냐 사람에게로부터냐 내게 대답하라

막11:31 저희가 서로 의논하여 이르되 만일 하늘로부터라 하면 어찌하여 그를 믿지 아니하였느냐 할 것이니

막11:32 그러면 사람에게로부터라 할까 하였으나 모든 사람이 요한을 참 선지자로 여기므로 그들이 백성을 두려워하는지라

막11:33 이에 예수께 대답하여 이르되 우리가 알지 못하노라 하니 예수께서 이르시되 나도 무슨 권위로 이런 일을 하는지 너희에게 이르지 아니하리라 하시니라

욥기 7 장.

욥7:1 이 땅에 사는 인생에게 힘든 노동이 있지 아니하겠느냐 그의 날이 품꾼의 날과 같지 아니하겠느냐

욥7:2 종은 저녁 그늘을 몹시 바라고 품꾼은 그의 삯을 기다리나니

욥7:3 이와 같이 내가 여러 달째 고통을 받으니 고달픈 밤이 내게 작정되었구나

욥7:4 내가 누울 때면 말하기를 언제나 일어날까, 언제나 밤이 갈까하며 새벽까지 이리 뒤척, 저리 뒤척 하는구나

욥7:5 내 살에는 구더기와 흙덩이가 의복처럼 입혀졌고 내 피부는 굳어졌다가 터지는구나

욥7:6 나의 날은 베틀의 북보다 빠르니 희망 없이 보내는구나

욥7:7 내 생명이 한낱 바람 같음을 생각하옵소서 나의 눈이 다시는 행복을 보지 못하리이다

욥7:8 나를 본 자의 눈이 다시는 나를 보지 못할 것이고 주의 눈이 나를 향하실지라도 내가 있지 아니하리이다

욥7:9 구름이 사라져 없어짐같이 스올로 내려가는 자는 다시 올라오지 못할 것이오니

욥7:10 그는 다시 자기 집으로 돌아가지 못하겠고 자기 처소도 다시 그를 알지 못하리이다

욥7:11 그런즉 내가 내 입을 금하지 아니하고 내 영혼의 아픔 때문에 말하며 내 마음의 괴로움 때문에 불평하리이다

욥7:12 내가 바다니이까 바다 괴물이니이까 주께서 어찌하여 나를 지키시나이까

욥7:13 혹시 내가 말하기를 내 잠자리가 나를 위로하고 내 침상이 내 수심을 풀리라 할 때에

욥7:14 주께서 꿈으로 나를 놀라게 하시고 환상으로 나를 두렵게 하시나이다

욥7:15 이러므로 내 마음이 뼈를 깎는 고통을 겪느니 차라리 숨이 막히는 것과 죽는 것을 택하리이다

욥7:16 내가 생명을 싫어하고 영원히 살기를 원하지 아니하오니 나를 놓으소서 내 날은 헛 것이니이다

욥7:17 사람이 무엇이기에 주께서 그를 크게 만드사 그에게 마음을 두시고

욥7:18 아침마다 권징하시며 순간마다 단련하시나이까

욥7:19 주께서 내게서 눈을 돌이키지 아니하시며 내가 침을 삼킬 동안도 나를 놓지 아니하시기를 어느 때까지 하시리이까

욥7:20 사람을 감찰하시는 이여 내가 범죄하였던들 주께 무슨 해가 되오리이까 어찌하여 나를 당신의 과녁으로 삼으셔서 내게 무거운 짐이 되게 하셨나이까

욥7:21 주께서 어찌하여 내 허물을 사하여 주지 아니하시며 내 죄악을 제거하여 버리지 아니하시나이까 내가 이제 흙에 누우리니 주께서 나를 애써 찾으실지라도 내가 남아 있지 아니하리이다

로 마 서 11 장.

롬11:1 그러므로 내가 말하노니 하나님이 자기 백성을 버리셨느냐 그럴 수 없느니라 나도 이스라엘인이요 아브라함의 씨에서 난 자요 베냐민 지파라

롬11:2 하나님이 그 미리 아신 자기 백성을 버리지 아니 하셨나니 너희가 성경이 엘리야를 가리켜 말한 것을 알지 못하느냐 그가 이스라엘을 하나님께 고발하되

롬11:3 주여 그들이 주의 선지자들을 죽였으며 주의 제단들을 헐어버렸고 나만 남았는데 내 목숨도 찾나이다 하니

롬11:4 그에게 하신 대답이 무엇이냐 내가 나를 위하여 바알에게 무릎을 꿇지 아니한 사람 칠천 명을 남겨 두었다 하셨으니

롬11:5 그런즉 이와 같이 지금도 은혜로 택하심을 따라 남은 자가 있느니라

롬11:6 만일 은혜로 된 것이면 행위로 말미암지 않음이니 그렇지 않으면 은혜가 은혜되지 못하느니라

롬11:7 그런즉 어떠하냐 이스라엘이 구하는 그것을 얻지 못하고 오직 택하심을 입은 자가 얻었고 그 남은 자들은 우둔하여졌느니라

롬11:8 기록된 바 하나님이 오늘까지 그들에게 혼미한 심령과 보지 못할 눈과 듣지 못할 귀를 주셨다 함과 같으니라

롬11:9 또 다윗이 이르되 그들의 밥상이 올무와 덫과 거치는 것과 보응이 되게 하시옵고

롬11:10 그들의 눈은 흐려 보지 못하고 그들의 등은 항상 굽게 하옵소서 하였느니라

롬11:11 그러므로 내가 말하노니 그들이 넘어지기까지 실족하였느냐 그럴 수 없느니라 그들이 넘어짐으로 구원이 이방인에게 이르러 이스라엘로 시기나게 함이니라

롬11:12 그들의 넘어짐이 세상의 풍성함이 되며 그들의 실패가 이방인의 풍성함이 되거든 하물며 그들의 충만함이리요

롬11:13 내가 이방인인 너희에게 말하노라 내가 이방인의 사도인 만큼 내 직분을 영광스럽게 여기노니

롬11:14 이는 혹 내 골육을 아무쪼록 시기하게 하여 그들 중에서 얼마를 구원하려 함이라

롬11:15 그들을 버리는 것이 세상의 화목이 되거든 그 받아들이는 것이 죽은 자 가운데서 살아나는 것이 아니면 무엇이리요

롬11:16 제사하는 처음 익은 곡식 가루가 거룩한즉 떡덩이도 그러하고 뿌리가 거룩한즉 가지도 그러하니라

롬11:17 또한 가지 얼마가 꺾이었는데 돌감람나무인 네가 그들 중에 접붙임이 되어 참감람나무 뿌리의 진액을 함께 받는 자가 되었은즉

롬11:18 그 가지들을 향하여 자랑하지 말라 자랑할지라도 네가 뿌리를 보전하는 것이 아니요 뿌리가 너를 보전하는 것이니라

롬11:19 그러면 네 말이 가지들이 꺾인 것은 나로 접붙임을 받게 하려 함이라 하리니

롬11:20 옳도다 그들은 믿지 아니하므로 꺾이고 너는 믿으므로 섰느니라 높은 마음을 품지 말고 도리어 두려워하라

롬11:21 하나님이 원 가지들도 아끼지 아니하셨은즉 너도 아끼지 아니하시리라

롬11:22 그러므로 하나님의 인자하심과 준엄하심을 보라 넘어지는 자들에게는 준엄하심이 있으니 너희가 만일 하나님의 인자하심에 머물러 있으면 그 인자가 너희에게 있으리라 그렇지 않으면 너도 찍히는 바 되리라

롬11:23 그들도 믿지 아니하는 데 머무르지 아니하면 접붙임을 받으리니 이는 그들을 접붙이실 능력이 하나님께 있음이라

롬11:24 네가 원 돌감람나무에서 찍힘을 받고 본성을 거슬러 좋은 감람나무에 접붙임을 받았으니 원 가지인 이 사람들이야 얼마나 더 자기 감람나무에 접붙이심을 받으랴

롬11:25 형제들아 너희가 스스로 지혜 있다 하면서 이 신비를 너희가 모르기를 내가 원하지 아니하노니 이 신비는 이방인의 충만한 수가 들어오기까지 이스라엘의 더러는 우둔하게 된 것이라

롬11:26 그리하여 온 이스라엘이 구원을 받으리라 기록된 바 구원자가 시온에서 오사 야곱에게서 경건하지 않은 것을 돌이키시겠고

롬11:27 내가 그들의 죄를 없이 할 때에 그들에게 이루어질 내 언약이 이것이라 함과 같으니라

롬11:28 복음으로 하면 그들이 너희로 말미암아 원수 된 자요 택하심으로 하면 조상들로 말미암아 사랑을 입은 자라

롬11:29 하나님의 은사와 부르심에는 후회하심이 없느니라

롬11:30 너희가 전에는 하나님께 순종하지 아니하더니 이스라엘이 순종하지 아니함으로 이제 긍휼을 입었는지라

롬11:31 이와 같이 이 사람들이 순종하지 아니하니 이는 너희에게 베푸시는 긍휼로 이제 그들도 긍휼을 얻게 하려 하심이라

롬11:32 하나님이 모든 사람을 순종하지 아니하는 가운데 가두어 두심은 모든 사람에게 긍휼을 베풀려 하심이로다

롬11:33 깊도다 하나님의 지혜와 지식의 풍성함이여, 그의 판단은 헤아리지 못할 것이며 그의 길은 찾지 못할 것이로다

롬11:34 누가 주의 마음을 알았느냐 누가 그의 모사가 되었느냐

롬11:35 누가 주께 먼저 드려서 갚으심을 받겠느냐

롬11:36 이는 만물이 주에게서 나오고 주로 말미암아 주에게로 돌아감이라 그에게 영광이 세세에 있을지어다 아멘

Genesis 41.

41:1 When two full years had passed, Pharaoh had a dream: He was standing by the Nile,

41:2 when out of the river there came up seven cows, sleek and fat, and they grazed among the reeds.

41:3 After them, seven other cows, ugly and gaunt, came up out of the Nile and stood beside those on the riverbank.

41:4 And the cows that were ugly and gaunt ate up the seven sleek, fat cows. Then Pharaoh woke up.

41:5 He fell asleep again and had a second dream: Seven heads of grain, healthy and good, were growing on a single stalk.

41:6 After them, seven other heads of grain sprouted--thin and scorched by the east wind.

41:7 The thin heads of grain swallowed up the seven healthy, full heads. Then Pharaoh woke up; it had been a dream.

41:8 In the morning his mind was troubled, so he sent for all the magicians and wise men of Egypt. Pharaoh told them his dreams, but no one could interpret them for him.

41:9 Then the chief cupbearer said to Pharaoh, "Today I am reminded of my shortcomings.

41:10 Pharaoh was once angry with his servants, and he imprisoned me and the chief baker in the house of the captain of the guard.

41:11 Each of us had a dream the same night, and each dream had a meaning of its own.

41:12 Now a young Hebrew was there with us, a servant of the captain of the guard. We told him our dreams, and he interpreted them for us, giving each man the interpretation of his dream.

41:13 And things turned out exactly as he interpreted them to us: I was restored to my position, and the other man was hanged."

41:14 So Pharaoh sent for Joseph, and he was quickly brought from the dungeon. When he had shaved and changed his clothes, he came before Pharaoh.

41:15 Pharaoh said to Joseph, "I had a dream, and no one can interpret it. But I have heard it said of you that when you hear a dream you can interpret it."

41:16 "I cannot do it," Joseph replied to Pharaoh, "but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires."

41:17 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, "In my dream I was standing on the bank of the Nile,

41:18 when out of the river there came up seven cows, fat and sleek, and they grazed among the reeds.

41:19 After them, seven other cows came up--scrawny and very ugly and lean. I had never seen such ugly cows in all the land of Egypt.

41:20 The lean, ugly cows ate up the seven fat cows that came up first.

41:21 But even after they ate them, no one could tell that they had done so; they looked just as ugly as before. Then I woke up.

41:22 "In my dreams I also saw seven heads of grain, full and good, growing on a single stalk.

41:23 After them, seven other heads sprouted--withered and thin and scorched by the east wind.

41:24 The thin heads of grain swallowed up the seven good heads. I told this to the magicians, but none could explain it to me."

41:25 Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, "The dreams of Pharaoh are one and the same. God has revealed to Pharaoh what he is about to do.

41:26 The seven good cows are seven years, and the seven good heads of grain are seven years; it is one and the same dream.

41:27 The seven lean, ugly cows that came up afterward are seven years, and so are the seven worthless heads of grain scorched by the east wind: They are seven years of famine.

41:28 "It is just as I said to Pharaoh: God has shown Pharaoh what he is about to do.

41:29 Seven years of great abundance are coming throughout the land of Egypt,

41:30 but seven years of famine will follow them. Then all the abundance in Egypt will be forgotten, and the famine will ravage the land.

41:31 The abundance in the land will not be remembered, because the famine that follows it will be so severe.

41:32 The reason the dream was given to Pharaoh in two forms is that the matter has been firmly decided by God, and God will do it soon.

41:33 "And now let Pharaoh look for a discerning and wise man and put him in charge of the land of Egypt.

41:34 Let Pharaoh appoint commissioners over the land to take a fifth of the harvest of Egypt during the seven years of abundance.

41:35 They should collect all the food of these good years that are coming and store up the grain under the authority of Pharaoh, to be kept in the cities for food.

41:36 This food should be held in reserve for the country, to be used during the seven years of famine that will come upon Egypt, so that the country may not be ruined by the famine."

41:37 The plan seemed good to Pharaoh and to all his officials.

41:38 So Pharaoh asked them, "Can we find anyone like this man, one in whom is the spirit of God?"

41:39 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, "Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one so discerning and wise as you.

41:40 You shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to submit to your orders. Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you."

41:41 So Pharaoh said to Joseph, "I hereby put you in charge of the whole land of Egypt."

41:42 Then Pharaoh took his signet ring from his finger and put it on Joseph's finger. He dressed him in robes of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck.

41:43 He had him ride in a chariot as his second-in-command, and men shouted before him, "Make way!" Thus he put him in charge of the whole land of Egypt.

41:44 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, "I am Pharaoh, but without your word no one will lift hand or foot in all Egypt."

41:45 Pharaoh gave Joseph the name Zaphenath-Paneah and gave him Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On, to be his wife. And Joseph went throughout the land of Egypt.

41:46 Joseph was thirty years old when he entered the service of Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from Pharaoh's presence and traveled throughout Egypt.

41:47 During the seven years of abundance the land produced plentifully.

41:48 Joseph collected all the food produced in those seven years of abundance in Egypt and stored it in the cities. In each city he put the food grown in the fields surrounding it.

41:49 Joseph stored up huge quantities of grain, like the sand of the sea; it was so much that he stopped keeping records because it was beyond measure.

41:50 Before the years of famine came, two sons were born to Joseph by Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On.

41:51 Joseph named his firstborn Manasseh and said, "It is because God has made me forget all my trouble and all my father's household."

41:52 The second son he named Ephraim and said, "It is because God has made me fruitful in the land of my suffering."

41:53 The seven years of abundance in Egypt came to an end,

41:54 and the seven years of famine began, just as Joseph had said. There was famine in all the other lands, but in the whole land of Egypt there was food.

41:55 When all Egypt began to feel the famine, the people cried to Pharaoh for food. Then Pharaoh told all the Egyptians, "Go to Joseph and do what he tells you."

41:56 When the famine had spread over the whole country, Joseph opened the storehouses and sold grain to the Egyptians, for the famine was severe throughout Egypt.

41:57 And all the countries came to Egypt to buy grain from Joseph, because the famine was severe in all the world.

Mark 11.

11:1 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples,

11:2 saying to them, "Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here.

11:3 If anyone asks you, 'Why are you doing this?' tell him, 'The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.'"

11:4 They went and found a colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway. As they untied it,

11:5 some people standing there asked, "What are you doing, untying that colt?"

11:6 They answered as Jesus had told them to, and the people let them go.

11:7 When they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, he sat on it.

11:8 Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut in the fields.

11:9 Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted, "Hosanna!" "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!"

11:10 "Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!" "Hosanna in the highest!"

11:11 Jesus entered Jerusalem and went to the temple. He looked around at everything, but since it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the Twelve.

11:12 The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry.

11:13 Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs.

11:14 Then he said to the tree, "May no one ever eat fruit from you again." And his disciples heard him say it.

11:15 On reaching Jerusalem, Jesus entered the temple area and began driving out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves,

11:16 and would not allow anyone to carry merchandise through the temple courts.

11:17 And as he taught them, he said, "Is it not written: "'My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations'? But you have made it 'a den of robbers.'"

11:18 The chief priests and the teachers of the law heard this and began looking for a way to kill him, for they feared him, because the whole crowd was amazed at his teaching.

11:19 When evening came, they went out of the city.

11:20 In the morning, as they went along, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots.

11:21 Peter remembered and said to Jesus, "Rabbi, look! The fig tree you cursed has withered!"

11:22 "Have faith in God," Jesus answered.

11:23 "I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.

11:24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

11:25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins."

11:26

11:27 They arrived again in Jerusalem, and while Jesus was walking in the temple courts, the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders came to him.

11:28 "By what authority are you doing these things?" they asked. "And who gave you authority to do this?"

11:29 Jesus replied, "I will ask you one question. Answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things.

11:30 John's baptism--was it from heaven, or from men? Tell me!"

11:31 They discussed it among themselves and said, "If we say, 'From heaven,' he will ask, 'Then why didn't you believe him?'

11:32 But if we say, 'From men'...." (They feared the people, for everyone held that John really was a prophet.)

11:33 So they answered Jesus, "We don't know." Jesus said, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things."

Job 7.

7:1 "Does not man have hard service on earth? Are not his days like those of a hired man?

7:2 Like a slave longing for the evening shadows, or a hired man waiting eagerly for his wages,

7:3 so I have been allotted months of futility, and nights of misery have been assigned to me.

7:4 When I lie down I think, 'How long before I get up?' The night drags on, and I toss till dawn.

7:5 My body is clothed with worms and scabs, my skin is broken and festering.

7:6 "My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle, and they come to an end without hope.

7:7 Remember, O God, that my life is but a breath; my eyes will never see happiness again.

7:8 The eye that now sees me will see me no longer; you will look for me, but I will be no more.

7:9 As a cloud vanishes and is gone, so he who goes down to the grave does not return.

7:10 He will never come to his house again; his place will know him no more.

7:11 "Therefore I will not keep silent; I will speak out in the anguish of my spirit, I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.

7:12 Am I the sea, or the monster of the deep, that you put me under guard?

7:13 When I think my bed will comfort me and my couch will ease my complaint,

7:14 even then you frighten me with dreams and terrify me with visions,

7:15 so that I prefer strangling and death, rather than this body of mine.

7:16 I despise my life; I would not live forever. Let me alone; my days have no meaning.

7:17 "What is man that you make so much of him, that you give him so much attention,

7:18 that you examine him every morning and test him every moment?

7:19 Will you never look away from me, or let me alone even for an instant?

7:20 If I have sinned, what have I done to you, O watcher of men? Why have you made me your target? Have I become a burden to you?

7:21 Why do you not pardon my offenses and forgive my sins? For I will soon lie down in the dust; you will search for me, but I will be no more."

Romans 11.

11:1 I ask then: Did God reject his people? By no means! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin.

11:2 God did not reject his people, whom he foreknew. Don't you know what the Scripture says in the passage about Elijah--how he appealed to God against Israel:

11:3 "Lord, they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars; I am the only one left, and they are trying to kill me"?

11:4 And what was God's answer to him? "I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal."

11:5 So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace.

11:6 And if by grace, then it is no longer by works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.

11:7 What then? What Israel sought so earnestly it did not obtain, but the elect did. The others were hardened,

11:8 as it is written: "God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes so that they could not see and ears so that they could not hear, to this very day."

11:9 And David says: "May their table become a snare and a trap, a stumbling block and a retribution for them.

11:10 May their eyes be darkened so they cannot see, and their backs be bent forever."

11:11 Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all! Rather, because of their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel envious.

11:12 But if their transgression means riches for the world, and their loss means riches for the Gentiles, how much greater riches will their fullness bring!

11:13 I am talking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I make much of my ministry

11:14 in the hope that I may somehow arouse my own people to envy and save some of them.

11:15 For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?

11:16 If the part of the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, then the whole batch is holy; if the root is holy, so are the branches.

11:17 If some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root,

11:18 do not boast over those branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you.

11:19 You will say then, "Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in."

11:20 Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but be afraid.

11:21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either.

11:22 Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off.

11:23 And if they do not persist in unbelief, they will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again.

11:24 After all, if you were cut out of an olive tree that is wild by nature, and contrary to nature were grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much more readily will these, the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree!

11:25 I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in.

11:26 And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: "The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob.

11:27 And this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins."

11:28 As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies on your account; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs,

11:29 for God's gifts and his call are irrevocable.

11:30 Just as you who were at one time disobedient to God have now received mercy as a result of their disobedience,

11:31 so they too have now become disobedient in order that they too may now receive mercy as a result of God's mercy to you.

11:32 For God has bound all men over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all.

11:33 Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!

11:34 "Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?"

11:35 "Who has ever given to God, that God should repay him?"

11:36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.
