창세기 24 장.

창24:1 아브라함이 나이가 많아 늙었고 여호와께서 그에게 범사에 복을 주셨더라

창24:2 아브라함이 자기 집 모든 소유를 맡은 늙은 종에게 이르되 청하건대 내 허벅지 밑에 네 손을 넣으라

창24:3 내가 너에게 하늘의 하나님, 땅의 하나님이신 여호와를 가리켜 맹세하게 하노니 너는 내가 거주하는 이 지방 가나안 족속의 딸 중에서 내 아들을 위하여 아내를 택하지 말고

창24:4 내 고향 내 족속에게로 가서 내 아들 이삭을 위하여 아내를 택하라

창24:5 종이 이르되 여자가 나를 따라 이 땅으로 오려고 하지 아니하거든 내가 주인의 아들을 주인이 나오신 땅으로 인도하여 돌아가리이까

창24:6 아브라함이 그에게 이르되 내 아들을 그리로 데리고 돌아가지 아니하도록 하라

창24:7 하늘의 하나님 여호와께서 나를 내 아버지의 집과 내 고향 땅에서 떠나게 하시고 내게 말씀하시며 내게 맹세하여 이르시기를 이 땅을 네 씨에게 주리라 하셨으니 그가 그 사자를 너보다 앞서 보내실지라 네가 거기서 내 아들을 위하여 아내를 택할지니라

창24:8 만일 여자가 너를 따라 오려고 하지 아니하면 나의 이 맹세가 너와 상관이 없나니 오직 내 아들을 데리고 그리로 가지 말지니라

창24:9 그 종이 이에 그의 주인 아브라함의 허벅지 아래에 손을 넣고 이 일에 대하여 그에게 맹세하였더라

창24:10 이에 종이 그 주인의 낙타 중 열 필을 끌고 떠났는데 곧 그의 주인의 모든 좋은 것을 가지고 떠나 메소보다미아로 가서 나홀의 성에 이르러

창24:11 그 낙타를 성 밖 우물곁에 꿇렸으니 저녁 때라 여인들이 물을 길으러 나올 때였더라

창24:12 그가 이르되 우리 주인 아브라함의 하나님 여호와여 원하건대 오늘 나에게 순조롭게 만나게 하사 내 주인 아브라함에게 은혜를 베푸시옵소서

창24:13 성 중 사람의 딸들이 물길으러 나오겠사오니 내가 우물 곁에 서 있다가

창24:14 한 소녀에게 이르기를 청하건대 너는 물동이를 기울여 나로 마시게 하라 하리니 그의 대답이 마시라 내가 당신의 낙타에게도 마시게 하리라 하면 그는 주께서 주의 종 이삭을 위하여 정하신 자라 이로 말미암아 주께서 내 주인에게 은혜 베푸심을 내가 알겠나이다

창24:15 말을 마치기도 전에 리브가가 물동이를 어깨에 메고 나오니 그는 아브라함의 동생 나홀의 아내 밀가의 아들 브두엘의 소생이라

창24:16 그 소녀는 보기에 심히 아리땁고 지금까지 남자가 가까이 하지 아니한 처녀더라 그가 우물로 내려가서 물을 그 물동이에 채워 가지고 올라오는지라

창24:17 종이 마주 달려가서 이르되 청하건대 네 물동이의 물을 내게 조금 마시게 하라

창24:18 그가 이르되 내 주여 마시소서 하며 급히 그 물동이를 손에 내려 마시게 하고

창24:19 마시게 하기를 다하고 이르되 당신의 낙타를 위하여서도 물을 길어 그것들도 배불리 마시게 하리이다 하고

창24:20 급히 물동이의 물을 구유에 붓고 다시 길으려고 우물로 달려가서 모든 낙타를 위하여 긷는지라

창24:21 그 사람이 그를 묵묵히 주목하며 여호와께서 과연 평탄한 길을 주신 여부를 알고자 하더니

창24:22 낙타가 마시기를 다하매 그가 반 세겔 무게의 금 손목고리 한 쌍을 그에게 주며

창24:23 이르되 네가 누구의 딸이냐 청하건대 내게 말하라 네 아버지의 집에 우리가 유숙할 곳이 있느냐

창24:24 그 여자가 그에게 이르되 나는 밀가가 나홀에게서 낳은 아들 브두엘의 딸이니이다

창24:25 또 이르되 우리에게 짚과 사료가 족하며 유숙할 곳도 있나이다

창24:26 이에 그 사람이 머리를 숙여 여호와께 경배하고

창24:27 이르되 나의 주인 아브라함의 하나님 여호와를 찬송하나이다 나의 주인에게 주의 사랑과 성실을 그치지 아니하셨사오며 여호와께서 길에서 나를 인도하사 내 주인의 동생 집에 이르게 하셨나이다 하니라

창24:28 소녀가 달려가서 이 일을 어머니 집에 알렸더니

창24:29 리브가에게 오라버니가 있어 그의 이름은 라반이라 그가 우물로 달려가 그 사람에게 이르러

창24:30 그의 누이의 코걸이와 그 손의 손목고리를 보고 또 그의 누이 리브가가 그 사람이 자기에게 이같이 말하더라 함을 듣고 그 사람에게로 나아감이라 그 때에 그가 우물가 낙타 곁에 서 있더라

창24:31 라반이 이르되 여호와께 복을 받은 자여 들어오소서 어찌 밖에 서 있나이까 내가 방과 낙타의 처소를 준비하였나이다

창24:32 그 사람이 그 집으로 들어가매 라반이 낙타의 짐을 부리고 짚과 사료를 낙타에게 주고 그 사람의 발과 그의 동행자들의 발 씻을 물을 주고

창24:33 그 앞에 음식을 베푸니 그 사람이 이르되 내가 내 일을 진술하기 전에는 먹지 아니하겠나이다 라반이 이르되 말하소서

창24:34 그가 이르되 나는 아브라함의 종이니이다

창24:35 여호와께서 나의 주인에게 크게 복을 주시어 창성하게 하시되 소와 양과 은금과 종들과 낙타와 나귀를 그에게 주셨고

창24:36 나의 주인의 아내 사라가 노년에 나의 주인에게 아들을 낳으매 주인이 그의 모든 소유를 그 아들에게 주었나이다

창24:37 나의 주인이 나에게 맹세하게 하여 이르되 너는 내 아들을 위하여 내가 사는 땅 가나안 족속의 딸들 중에서 아내를 택하지 말고

창24:38 내 아버지의 집, 내 족속에게로 가서 내 아들을 위하여 아내를 택하라 하시기로

창24:39 내가 내 주인에게 여쭈되 혹 여자가 나를 따르지 아니하면 어찌 하리이까 한즉

창24:40 주인이 내게 이르되 내가 섬기는 여호와께서 그의 사자를 너와 함께 보내어 네게 평탄한 길을 주시리니 너는 내 족속 중 내 아버지 집에서 내 아들을 위하여 아내를 택할 것이니라

창24:41 네가 내 족속에게 이를 때에는 네가 내 맹세와 상관이 없으리라 만일 그들이 네게 주지 아니할지라도 네가 내 맹세와 상관이 없으리라 하시기로

창24:42 내가 오늘 우물에 이르러 말하기를 내 주인 아브라함의 하나님 여호와여 만일 내가 행하는 길에 형통함을 주실진대

창24:43 내가 이 우물 곁에 서 있다가 젊은 여자가 물을 길으러 오거든 내가 그에게 청하기를 너는 물동이의 물을 내게 조금 마시게 하라 하여

창24:44 그의 대답이 당신은 마시라 내가 또 당신의 낙타를 위하여도 길으리라 하면 그 여자는 여호와께서 내 주인의 아들을 위하여 정하여 주신 자가 되리이다 하며

창24:45 내가 마음속으로 말하기를 마치기도 전에 리브가가 물동이를 어깨에 메고 나와서 우물로 내려와 긷기로 내가 그에게 이르기를 청하건대 내게 마시게 하라 한즉

창24:46 그가 급히 물동이를 어깨에서 내리며 이르되 마시라 내가 당신의 낙타에게도 마시게 하리라 하기로 내가 마시매 그가 또 낙타에게도 마시게 한지라

창24:47 내가 그에게 묻기를 네가 뉘 딸이냐 한즉 이르되 밀가가 나홀에게서 낳은 브두엘의 딸이라 하기로 내가 코걸이를 그 코에 꿰고 손목고리를 그 손에 끼우고

창24:48 내 주인 아브라함의 하나님 여호와께서 나를 바른 길로 인도하사 나의 주인의 동생의 딸을 그의 아들을 위하여 택하게 하셨으므로 내가 머리를 숙여 그에게 경배하고 찬송하였나이다

창24:49 이제 당신들이 인자함과 진실함으로 내 주인을 대접하려거든 내게 알게 해 주시고 그렇지 아니할지라도 내게 알게 해 주셔서 내가 우로든지 좌로든지 행하게 하소서

창24:50 라반과 브두엘이 대답하여 이르되 이 일이 여호와께로 말미암았으니 우리는 가부를 말할 수 없노라

창24:51 리브가가 당신 앞에 있으니 데리고 가서 여호와의 명령대로 그를 당신의 주인의 아들의 아내가 되게 하라

창24:52 아브라함의 종이 그들의 말을 듣고 땅에 엎드려 여호와께 절하고

창24:53 은금 패물과 의복을 꺼내어 리브가에게 주고 그의 오라버니와 어머니에게도 보물을 주니라

창24:54 이에 그들 곧 종과 동행자들이 먹고 마시고 유숙하고 아침에 일어나서 그가 이르되 나를 보내어 내 주인에게로 돌아가게 하소서

창24:55 리브가의 오라버니와 그의 어머니가 이르되 이 아이로 하여금 며칠 또는 열흘을 우리와 함께 머물게 하라 그 후에 그가 갈 것이니라

창24:56 그 사람이 그들에게 이르되 나를 만류하지 마소서 여호와께서 내게 형통한 길을 주셨으니 나를 보내어 내 주인에게로 돌아가게 하소서

창24:57 그들이 이르되 우리가 소녀를 불러 그에게 물으리라 하고

창24:58 리브가를 불러 그에게 이르되 네가 이 사람과 함께 가려느냐 그가 대답하되 가겠나이다

창24:59 그들이 그 누이 리브가와 그의 유모와 아브라함의 종과 그 동행자들을 보내며

창24:60 리브가에게 축복하여 이르되 우리 누이여 너는 천만인의 어머니가 될지어다 네 씨로 그 원수의 성 문을 얻게 할지어다

창24:61 리브가가 일어나 여자 종들과 함께 낙타를 타고 그 사람을 따라가니 그 종이 리브가를 데리고 가니라

창24:62 그 때에 이삭이 브엘라해로이에서 왔으니 그가 네게브 지역에 거주하였음이라

창24:63 이삭이 저물 때에 들에 나가 묵상하다가 눈을 들어보매 낙타들이 오는지라

창24:64 리브가가 눈을 들어 이삭을 바라보고 낙타에서 내려

창24:65 종에게 말하되 들에서 배회하다가 우리에게로 마주 오는 자가 누구냐 종이 이르되 이는 내 주인이니이다 리브가가 너울을 가지고 자기의 얼굴을 가리더라

창24:66 종이 그 행한 일을 다 이삭에게 아뢰매

창24:67 이삭이 리브가를 인도하여 그의 어머니 사라의 장막으로 들이고 그를 맞이하여 아내로 삼고 사랑하였으니 이삭이 그의 어머니를 장례한 후에 위로를 얻었더라

마태복음 23 장.

마23:1 이에 예수께서 무리와 제자들에게 말씀하여 이르시되

마23:2 서기관들과 바리새인들이 모세의 자리에 앉았으니

마23:3 그러므로 무엇이든지 그들이 말하는 바는 행하고 지키되 그들이 하는 행위는 본받지 말라 그들은 말만 하고 행하지 아니하며

마23:4 또 무거운 짐을 묶어 사람의 어깨에 지우되 자기는 이것을 한 손가락으로도 움직이려 하지 아니하며

마23:5 그들의 모든 행위를 사람에게 보이고자 하나니 곧 그 경문 띠를 넓게 하며 옷술을 길게 하고

마23:6 잔치의 윗자리와 회당의 높은 자리와

마23:7 시장에서 문안 받는 것과 사람에게 랍비라 칭함을 받는 것을 좋아하느니라

마23:8 그러나 너희는 랍비라 칭함을 받지 말라 너희 선생은 하나이요 너희는 다 형제니라

마23:9 땅에 있는 자를 아버지라 하지 말라 너희의 아버지는 한 분이시니 곧 하늘에 계신 이시니라

마23:10 또한 지도자라 칭함을 받지 말라 너희의 지도자는 한 분이시니 곧 그리스도시니라

마23:11 너희 중에 큰 자는 너희를 섬기는 자가 되어야 하리라

마23:12 누구든지 자기를 높이는 자는 낮아지고 누구든지 자기를 낮추는 자는 높아지리라

마23:13 화 있을진저 외식하는 서기관들과 바리새인들이여 너희는 천국 문을 사람들 앞에서 닫고 너희도 들어가지 않고 들어가려 하는 자도 들어가지 못하게 하는도다

마23:14 (없 음)

마23:15 화 있을진저 외식하는 서기관들과 바리새인들이여 너희는 교인 한 사람을 얻기 위하여 바다와 육지를 두루 다니다가 생기면 너희보다 배나 더 지옥 자식이 되게 하는도다

마23:16 화 있을진저 눈 먼 인도자여 너희가 말하되 누구든지 성전으로 맹세하면 아무 일 없거니와 성전의 금으로 맹세하면 지킬지라 하는도다

마23:17 어리석은 맹인들이여 어느 것이 크냐 그 금이냐 그 금을 거룩하게 하는 성전이냐

마23:18 너희가 또 이르되 누구든지 제단으로 맹세하면 아무 일 없거니와 그 위에 있는 예물로 맹세하면 지킬지라 하는도다

마23:19 맹인들이여 어느 것이 크냐 그 예물이냐 그 예물을 거룩하게 하는 제단이냐

마23:20 그러므로 제단으로 맹세하는 자는 제단과 그 위에 있는 모든 것으로 맹세함이요

마23:21 또 성전으로 맹세하는 자는 성전과 그 안에 계신 이로 맹세함이요

마23:22 또 하늘로 맹세하는 자는 하나님의 보좌와 그 위에 앉으신 이로 맹세함이니라

마23:23 화 있을진저 외식하는 서기관들과 바리새인들이여 너희가 박하와 회향과 근채의 십일조는 드리되 율법의 더 중한 바 정의와 긍휼과 믿음은 버렸도다 그러나 이것도 행하고 저것도 버리지 말아야 할지니라

마23:24 맹인 된 인도자여 하루살이는 걸러 내고 낙타는 삼키는도다

마23:25 화 있을진저 외식하는 서기관들과 바리새인들이여 잔과 대접의 겉은 깨끗이 하되 그 안에는 탐욕과 방탕으로 가득하게 하는도다

마23:26 눈 먼 바리새인이여 너는 먼저 안을 깨끗이 하라 그리하면 겉도 깨끗하리라

마23:27 화 있을진저 외식하는 서기관들과 바리새인들이여 회칠한 무덤 같으니 겉으로는 아름답게 보이나 그 안에는 죽은 사람의 뼈와 모든 더러운 것이 가득하도다

마23:28 이와같이 너희도 겉으로는 사람에게 옳게 보이되 안으로는 외식과 불법이 가득하도다

마23:29 화 있을진저 외식하는 서기관들과 바리새인들이여 너희는 선지자들의 무덤을 만들고 의인들의 비석을 꾸미며 이르되

마23:30 만일 우리가 조상 때에 있었더라면 우리는 그들이 선지자의 피를 흘리는데 참여하지 아니하였으리라 하니

마23:31 그러면 너희가 선지자를 죽인 자의 자손임을 스스로 증명함이로다

마23:32 너희가 너희 조상의 분량을 채우라

마23:33 뱀들아 독사의 새끼들아 너희가 어떻게 지옥의 판결을 피하겠느냐

마23:34 그러므로 내가 너희에게 선지자들과 지혜 있는 자들과 서기관들을 보내매 너희가 그 중에서 더러는 죽이거나 십자가에 못 박고 그 중에서 더러는 너희 회당에서 채찍질하고 이 동네에서 저 동네로 따라다니며 박해하리라

마23:35 그러므로 의인 아벨의 피로부터 성전과 제단 사이에서 너희가 죽인 바라갸의 아들 사가랴의 피까지 땅 위에서 흘린 의로운 피가 다 너희에게 돌아가리라

마23:36 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 이것이 다 이 세대에게 돌아가리라

마23:37 예루살렘아 예루살렘아 선지자들을 죽이고 네게 파송된 자들을 돌로 치는 자여 암탉이 그 새끼를 날개 아래에 모음같이 내가 네 자녀를 모으려 한 일이 몇 번이더냐 그러나 너희가 원하지 아니하였도다

마23:38 보라 너희 집이 황폐하여 버려진 바 되리라

마23:39 내가 너희에게 이르노니 이제부터 너희는 찬송하리로다 주의 이름으로 오시는 이여 할 때까지 나를 보지 못하리라 하시니라

느헤미야 13 장.

느13:1 그 날 모세의 책을 낭독하여 백성에게 들렸는데 그 책에 기록하기를 암몬 사람과 모압 사람은 영원히 하나님의 총회에 들어오지 못하리니

느13:2 이는 그들이 양식과 물로 이스라엘 자손을 영접하지 아니하고 도리어 발람에게 뇌물을 주어 저주하게 하였음이라 그러나 우리 하나님이 그 저주를 돌이켜 복이 되게 하셨다 하였는지라

느13:3 백성이 이 율법을 듣고 곧 섞인 무리를 이스라엘 가운데에서 모두 분리하였느니라

느13:4 이전에 우리 하나님의 전의 방을 맡은 제사장 엘리아십이 도비야와 연락이 있었으므로

느13:5 도비야를 위하여 한 큰 방을 만들었으니 그 방은 원래 소제물과 유향과 그릇과 또 레위 사람들과 노래하는 자들과 문지기들에게 십일조로 주는 곡물과 새 포도주와 기름과 또 제사장들에게 주는 거제물을 두는 곳이라

느13:6 그 때에는 내가 예루살렘에 있지 아니하였느니라 바벨론 왕 아닥사스다 삼십이년에 내가 왕에게 나아갔다가 며칠 후에 왕에게 말미를 청하고

느13:7 예루살렘에 이르러서야 엘리아십이 도비야를 위하여 하나님의 전 뜰에 방을 만든 악한 일을 안지라

느13:8 내가 심히 근심하여 도비야의 세간을 그 방 밖으로 다 내어 던지고

느13:9 명령하여 그 방을 정결하게 하고 하나님의 전의 그릇과 소제물과 유향을 다시 그리로 들여놓았느니라

느13:10 내가 또 알아본즉 레위 사람들이 받을 몫을 주지 아니하였으므로 그 직무를 행하는 레위 사람들과 노래하는 자들이 각각 자기 밭으로 도망하였기로

느13:11 내가 모든 민장들을 꾸짖어 이르기를 하나님의 전이 어찌하여 버린 바 되었느냐 하고 곧 레위 사람을 불러 모아 다시 제자리에 세웠더니

느13:12 이에 온 유다가 곡식과 새 포도주와 기름의 십일조를 가져다가 곳간에 들이므로

느13:13 내가 제사장 셀레먀와 서기관 사독과 레위 사람 브다야를 창고지기로 삼고 맛다냐의 손자 삭굴의 아들 하난을 버금으로 삼았나니 이는 그들이 충직한 자로 인정됨이라 그 직분은 형제들에게 분배하는 일이었느라

느13:14 내 하나님이여 이 일로 말미암아 나를 기억하옵소서 내 하나님의 전과 그 모든 직무를 위하여 내가 행한 선한 일을 도말하지 마옵소서

느13:15 그 때에 내가 본즉 유다에서 어떤 사람이 안식일에 술틀을 밝고 곡식단을 나귀에 실어 운반하며 포도주와 포도와 무화과와 여러가지 짐을 지고 안식일에 예루살렘에 들어와서 음식물을 팔기로 그 날에 내가 경계하였고

느13:16 또 두로 사람이 예루살렘에 살며 물고기와 각양 물건을 가져다가 안식일에 예루살렘에서도 유다 자손에게 팔기로

느13:17 내가 유다의 모든 귀인들을 꾸짖어 그들에게 이르기를 너희가 어찌 이 악을 행하여 안식일을 범하느냐

느13:18 너희 조상들이 이같이 행하지 아니하였느냐 그래서 우리 하나님이 이 모든 재앙을 우리와 이 성읍에 내리신 것이 아니냐 그럼에도 불구하고 너희가 안식을 범하여 진노가 이스라엘에게 더욱 심하게 임하도록 하는도다 하고

느13:19 안식일 전에 예루살렘 성문이 어두워갈 때에 내가 성문을 닫고 안식일이 지나기 전에는 열지 말라 하고 나를 따르는 종자 몇을 성문마다 세워 안식일에는 아무 짐도 들어오지 못하게 하였으므로

느13:20 장사꾼들과 각양 물건 파는 자들이 한두 번 예루살렘 성 밖에서 자므로

느13:21 내가 그들에게 경계하여 이르기를 너희가 어찌하여 성 밑에서 자느냐 다시 이같이 하면 내가 잡으리라 하였더니 그후부터는 안식일에 그들이 다시 오지 아니 하였으니라

느13:22 내가 또 레위 사람들에게 몸을 정결하게 하고 와서 성문을 지켜서 안식일을 거룩하게 하라 하였느니라 내 하나님이여 나를 위하여 이 일도 기억하시옵고 주의 크신 은혜대로 나를 아끼시옵소서

느13:23 그 때에 내가 또 본즉 유다 사람이 아스돗과 암몬과 모압 여인을 아내로 삼았는데

느13:24 그들의 자녀가 아스돗 방언을 절반쯤은 하여도 유다 방언을 못하니 그 하는 말이 각 족속의 방언이므로

느13:25 내가 그들을 책망하고 저주하며 그들 중 몇 사람을 때리고 그들이 머리털을 뽑고 이르되 너희는 너희 딸들을 그들의 아들들에게 주지 말고 너희 아들들이나 너희를 위하여 그들의 딸을 데려오지 아니하겠다고 하나님을 가리켜 맹세하라 하고

느13:26 또 이르기를 옛적에 이스라엘 왕 솔로몬이 이 일로 범죄하지 아니하였느냐 그는 많은 나라 중에 비길 왕이 없이 하나님의 사랑을 입은 자라 하나님이 그를 왕으로 삼아 온 이스라엘을 다스리게 하셨으나 이방 여인이 그를 범죄하게 하였나니

느13:27 너희가 이방 연인을 아내로 맞아 이 모든 큰 악을 행하여 우리 하나님께 범죄하는 것을 우리가 어찌 용납하겠느냐

느13:28 대제사장 엘리아십의 손자 요야다의 아들 하나가 호론 사람 산발랏의 사위가 되었으므로 내가 쫒아내어 나를 떠나게 하였느니라

느13:29 내 하나님이여 그들이 제사장의 직분을 더럽히고 제사장의 직분과 레위 사람에 대한 언약을 직분과 레위 사람에 대한 언약을 어겼사오니 그들을 기억하옵소서

느13:30 내가 이와 같이 그들에게 이방 사람을 떠나게 하여 그들을 깨끗하게 하고 또 제사장과 레위 사람의 반열을 세워 각각 자기의 일을 맡게 하고

느13:31 또 정한 기한에 나무와 처음 익은 것을 드리게 하였사오니 내 하나님이여 나를 기억하사 복을 주옵소서

사도행전 23 장.

행23:1 바울이 공회를 주목하여 이르되 여러분 형제들아 오늘날까지 나는 범사에 양심을 따라 하나님을 섬겼노라 하거늘

행23:2 대제사장 아나니아가 바울 곁에 서있는 사람들에게 그 입을 치라 명하니

행23:3 바울이 이르되 회칠한 담이여 하나님이 너를 치시리로다 네가 나를 율법대로 심판한다고 앉아서 율법을 어기고 나를 치라 하느냐 하니

행23:4 곁에 선 사람들이 말하되 하나님의 대제사장을 네가 욕하느냐

행23:5 바울이 이르되 형제들아 나는 그가 대제사장인 줄 알지 못하였노라 기록하였으되 너의 백성의 관리를 비방하지 말라 하였느니라 하더라

행23:6 바울이 그 중 일부는 사두개인이요 다른 일부는 바리새인인 줄 알고 공회에서 외쳐 이르되 여러분 형제들아 나는 바리새인이요 또 바리새인의 아들이라 죽은 자의 소망 곧 부활로 말미암아 내가 심문을 받노라

행23:7 그 말을 한즉 바리새인과 사두개인 사이에 다툼이 생겨 무리가 나누어지니

행23:8 이는 사두개인은 부활도 없고 천사도 없고 영도 없다 하고 바리새인은 다 있다 함이라

행23:9 크게 떠들새 바리새인 편에서 몇 서기관이 일어나 다투어 이르되 우리가 이 사람을 보니 악한 것이 없도다 혹 영이나 혹 천사가 그에게 말하였으면 어찌 하겠느냐 하여

행23:10 큰 분쟁이 생기니 천부장은 바울이 그들에게 찢겨질까 하여 군인을 명하여 내려가 무리 가운데서 빼앗아 가지고 영내로 들어가라 하니라

행23:11 그 날 밤에 주께서 바울 곁에 서서 이르시되 담대하라 네가 예루살렘에서 나의 일을 증언한 것 같이 로마에서도 증언하여야 하리라 하시니라

행23:12 날이 새매 유대인들이 당을 지어 맹세하되 바울을 죽이기 전에는 먹지도 아니하고 마시지도 아니하겠다 하고

행23:13 이같이 동맹한 자가 사십여 명이더라

행23:14 대제사장들과 장로들에게 가서 말하되 우리가 바울을 죽이기 전에는 아무 것도 먹지 않기로 굳게 맹세하였으니

행23:15 이제 너희는 그의 사실을 더 자세히 물어보려는 척하면서 공회와 함께 천부장에게 청하여 바울을 너희에게로 데리고 내려오게 하라 우리는 그가 가까이 오기 전에 죽이기로 준비하였노라 하더니

행23:19 천부장이 그의 손을 잡고 물러가서 조용히 묻되 내게 할 말이 무엇이냐

행23:20 대답하되 유대인들이 공모하기를 그들이 바울에 대하여 더 자세한 것을 묻기 위함이라 하고 내일 그를 데리고 공회로 내려오기를 당신께 청하자 하였으니

행23:21 당신은 그들의 청함을 따르지 마옵소서 그들 중에서 바울을 죽이기 전에는 먹지도 않고 마시지도 않기로 맹세한 자 사십여 명이 그를 죽이려고 숨어서 지금 다 준비하고 당신의 허락만 기다리나이다 하니

행23:22 이에 천부장이 청년을 보내며 경계하되 이 일을 내게 알렸다고 아무에게도 이르지 말라 하고

행23:29 고발하는 것이 그들의 율법 문제에 관한 것 뿐이요 한 가지도 죽이거나 결박할 사유가 없음을 발견하였나이다

행23:30 그러나 이 사람을 해하려는 간계가 있다고 누가 내게 알려 주기로 곧 당신께로 보내며 또 고발하는 사람들도 당신 앞에서 그에 대하여 말하라 하였나이다 하였더라

Genesis 24.

24:1 Abraham was now old and well advanced in years, and the LORD had blessed him in every way.

24:2 He said to the chief servant in his household, the one in charge of all that he had, "Put your hand under my thigh.

24:3 I want you to swear by the LORD, the God of heaven and the God of earth, that you will not get a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I am living,

24:4 but will go to my country and my own relatives and get a wife for my son Isaac."

24:5 The servant asked him, "What if the woman is unwilling to come back with me to this land? Shall I then take your son back to the country you came from?"

24:6 "Make sure that you do not take my son back there," Abraham said.

24:7 "The LORD, the God of heaven, who brought me out of my father's household and my native land and who spoke to me and promised me on oath, saying, 'To your offspring I will give this land'--he will send his angel before you so that you can get a wife for my son from there.

24:8 If the woman is unwilling to come back with you, then you will be released from this oath of mine. Only do not take my son back there."

24:9 So the servant put his hand under the thigh of his master Abraham and swore an oath to him concerning this matter.

24:10 Then the servant took ten of his master's camels and left, taking with him all kinds of good things from his master. He set out for Aram Naharaim and made his way to the town of Nahor.

24:11 He had the camels kneel down near the well outside the town; it was toward evening, the time the women go out to draw water.

24:12 Then he prayed, "O LORD, God of my master Abraham, give me success today, and show kindness to my master Abraham.

24:13 See, I am standing beside this spring, and the daughters of the townspeople are coming out to draw water.

24:14 May it be that when I say to a girl, 'Please let down your jar that I may have a drink,' and she says, 'Drink, and I'll water your camels too'--let her be the one you have chosen for your servant Isaac. By this I will know that you have shown kindness to my master."

24:15 Before he had finished praying, Rebekah came out with her jar on her shoulder. She was the daughter of Bethuel son of Milcah, who was the wife of Abraham's brother Nahor.

24:16 The girl was very beautiful, a virgin; no man had ever lain with her. She went down to the spring, filled her jar and came up again.

24:17 The servant hurried to meet her and said, "Please give me a little water from your jar."

24:18 "Drink, my lord," she said, and quickly lowered the jar to her hands and gave him a drink.

24:19 After she had given him a drink, she said, "I'll draw water for your camels too, until they have finished drinking."

24:20 So she quickly emptied her jar into the trough, ran back to the well to draw more water, and drew enough for all his camels.

24:21 Without saying a word, the man watched her closely to learn whether or not the LORD had made his journey successful.

24:22 When the camels had finished drinking, the man took out a gold nose ring weighing a beka and two gold bracelets weighing ten shekels.

24:23 Then he asked, "Whose daughter are you? Please tell me, is there room in your father's house for us to spend the night?"

24:24 She answered him, "I am the daughter of Bethuel, the son that Milcah bore to Nahor."

24:25 And she added, "We have plenty of straw and fodder, as well as room for you to spend the night."

24:26 Then the man bowed down and worshiped the LORD,

24:27 saying, "Praise be to the LORD, the God of my master Abraham, who has not abandoned his kindness and faithfulness to my master. As for me, the LORD has led me on the journey to the house of my master's relatives."

24:28 The girl ran and told her mother's household about these things.

24:29 Now Rebekah had a brother named Laban, and he hurried out to the man at the spring.

24:30 As soon as he had seen the nose ring, and the bracelets on his sister's arms, and had heard Rebekah tell what the man said to her, he went out to the man and found him standing by the camels near the spring.

24:31 "Come, you who are blessed by the LORD," he said. "Why are you standing out here? I have prepared the house and a place for the camels."

24:32 So the man went to the house, and the camels were unloaded. Straw and fodder were brought for the camels, and water for him and his men to wash their feet.

24:33 Then food was set before him, but he said, "I will not eat until I have told you what I have to say." "Then tell us," Laban said.

24:34 So he said, "I am Abraham's servant.

24:35 The LORD has blessed my master abundantly, and he has become wealthy. He has given him sheep and cattle, silver and gold, menservants and maidservants, and camels and donkeys.

24:36 My master's wife Sarah has borne him a son in her old age, and he has given him everything he owns.

24:37 And my master made me swear an oath, and said, 'You must not get a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I live,

24:38 but go to my father's family and to my own clan, and get a wife for my son.'

24:39 "Then I asked my master, 'What if the woman will not come back with me?'

24:40 "He replied, 'The LORD, before whom I have walked, will send his angel with you and make your journey a success, so that you can get a wife for my son from my own clan and from my father's family.

24:41 Then, when you go to my clan, you will be released from my oath even if they refuse to give her to you--you will be released from my oath.'

24:42 "When I came to the spring today, I said, 'O LORD, God of my master Abraham, if you will, please grant success to the journey on which I have come.

24:43 See, I am standing beside this spring; if a maiden comes out to draw water and I say to her, "Please let me drink a little water from your jar,"

24:44 and if she says to me, "Drink, and I'll draw water for your camels too," let her be the one the LORD has chosen for my master's son.'

24:45 "Before I finished praying in my heart, Rebekah came out, with her jar on her shoulder. She went down to the spring and drew water, and I said to her, 'Please give me a drink.'

24:46 "She quickly lowered her jar from her shoulder and said, 'Drink, and I'll water your camels too.' So I drank, and she watered the camels also.

24:47 "I asked her, 'Whose daughter are you?' "She said, 'The daughter of Bethuel son of Nahor, whom Milcah bore to him.' "Then I put the ring in her nose and the bracelets on her arms,

24:48 and I bowed down and worshiped the LORD. I praised the LORD, the God of my master Abraham, who had led me on the right road to get the granddaughter of my master's brother for his son.

24:49 Now if you will show kindness and faithfulness to my master, tell me; and if not, tell me, so I may know which way to turn."

24:50 Laban and Bethuel answered, "This is from the LORD; we can say nothing to you one way or the other.

24:51 Here is Rebekah; take her and go, and let her become the wife of your master's son, as the LORD has directed."

24:52 When Abraham's servant heard what they said, he bowed down to the ground before the LORD.

24:53 Then the servant brought out gold and silver jewelry and articles of clothing and gave them to Rebekah; he also gave costly gifts to her brother and to her mother.

24:54 Then he and the men who were with him ate and drank and spent the night there. When they got up the next morning, he said, "Send me on my way to my master."

24:55 But her brother and her mother replied, "Let the girl remain with us ten days or so; then you may go."

24:56 But he said to them, "Do not detain me, now that the LORD has granted success to my journey. Send me on my way so I may go to my master."

24:57 Then they said, "Let's call the girl and ask her about it."

24:58 So they called Rebekah and asked her, "Will you go with this man?" "I will go," she said.

24:59 So they sent their sister Rebekah on her way, along with her nurse and Abraham's servant and his men.

24:60 And they blessed Rebekah and said to her, "Our sister, may you increase to thousands upon thousands; may your offspring possess the gates of their enemies."

24:61 Then Rebekah and her maids got ready and mounted their camels and went back with the man. So the servant took Rebekah and left.

24:62 Now Isaac had come from Beer Lahai Roi, for he was living in the Negev.

24:63 He went out to the field one evening to meditate, and as he looked up, he saw camels approaching.

24:64 Rebekah also looked up and saw Isaac. She got down from her camel

24:65 and asked the servant, "Who is that man in the field coming to meet us?" "He is my master," the servant answered. So she took her veil and covered herself.

24:66 Then the servant told Isaac all he had done.

24:67 Isaac brought her into the tent of his mother Sarah, and he married Rebekah. So she became his wife, and he loved her; and Isaac was comforted after his mother's death.

Matthew 23.

23:1 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples:

23:2 "The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat.

23:3 So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.

23:4 They tie up heavy loads and put them on men's shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.

23:5 "Everything they do is done for men to see: They make their phylacteries wide and the tassels on their garments long;

23:6 they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues;

23:7 they love to be greeted in the marketplaces and to have men call them 'Rabbi.'

23:8 "But you are not to be called 'Rabbi,' for you have only one Master and you are all brothers.

23:9 And do not call anyone on earth 'father,' for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.

23:10 Nor are you to be called 'teacher,' for you have one Teacher, the Christ.

23:11 The greatest among you will be your servant.

23:12 For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

23:13 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men's faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.

23:14

23:15 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.

23:16 "Woe to you, blind guides! You say, 'If anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.'

23:17 You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes the gold sacred?

23:18 You also say, 'If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gift on it, he is bound by his oath.'

23:19 You blind men! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes the gift sacred?

23:20 Therefore, he who swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it.

23:21 And he who swears by the temple swears by it and by the one who dwells in it.

23:22 And he who swears by heaven swears by God's throne and by the one who sits on it.

23:23 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices--mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law--justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.

23:24 You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.

23:25 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.

23:26 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.

23:27 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and everything unclean.

23:28 In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.

23:29 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous.

23:30 And you say, 'If we had lived in the days of our forefathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.'

23:31 So you testify against yourselves that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets.

23:32 Fill up, then, the measure of the sin of your forefathers!

23:33 "You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?

23:34 Therefore I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town.

23:35 And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.

23:36 I tell you the truth, all this will come upon this generation.

23:37 "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing.

23:38 Look, your house is left to you desolate.

23:39 For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, 'Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.'"

Nehemiah 13.

13:1 On that day the Book of Moses was read aloud in the hearing of the people and there it was found written that no Ammonite or Moabite should ever be admitted into the assembly of God,

13:2 because they had not met the Israelites with food and water but had hired Balaam to call a curse down on them. (Our God, however, turned the curse into a blessing.)

13:3 When the people heard this law, they excluded from Israel all who were of foreign descent.

13:4 Before this, Eliashib the priest had been put in charge of the storerooms of the house of our God. He was closely associated with Tobiah,

13:5 and he had provided him with a large room formerly used to store the grain offerings and incense and temple articles, and also the tithes of grain, new wine and oil prescribed for the Levites, singers and gatekeepers, as well as the contributions for the priests.

13:6 But while all this was going on, I was not in Jerusalem, for in the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon I had returned to the king. Some time later I asked his permission

13:7 and came back to Jerusalem. Here I learned about the evil thing Eliashib had done in providing Tobiah a room in the courts of the house of God.

13:8 I was greatly displeased and threw all Tobiah's household goods out of the room.

13:9 I gave orders to purify the rooms, and then I put back into them the equipment of the house of God, with the grain offerings and the incense.

13:10 I also learned that the portions assigned to the Levites had not been given to them, and that all the Levites and singers responsible for the service had gone back to their own fields.

13:11 So I rebuked the officials and asked them, "Why is the house of God neglected?" Then I called them together and stationed them at their posts.

13:12 All Judah brought the tithes of grain, new wine and oil into the storerooms.

13:13 I put Shelemiah the priest, Zadok the scribe, and a Levite named Pedaiah in charge of the storerooms and made Hanan son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah, their assistant, because these men were considered trustworthy. They were made responsible for distributing the supplies to their brothers.

13:14 Remember me for this, O my God, and do not blot out what I have so faithfully done for the house of my God and its services.

13:15 In those days I saw men in Judah treading winepresses on the Sabbath and bringing in grain and loading it on donkeys, together with wine, grapes, figs and all other kinds of loads. And they were bringing all this into Jerusalem on the Sabbath. Therefore I warned them against selling food on that day.

13:16 Men from Tyre who lived in Jerusalem were bringing in fish and all kinds of merchandise and selling them in Jerusalem on the Sabbath to the people of Judah.

13:17 I rebuked the nobles of Judah and said to them, "What is this wicked thing you are doing--desecrating the Sabbath day?

13:18 Didn't your forefathers do the same things, so that our God brought all this calamity upon us and upon this city? Now you are stirring up more wrath against Israel by desecrating the Sabbath."

13:19 When evening shadows fell on the gates of Jerusalem before the Sabbath, I ordered the doors to be shut and not opened until the Sabbath was over. I stationed some of my own men at the gates so that no load could be brought in on the Sabbath day.

13:20 Once or twice the merchants and sellers of all kinds of goods spent the night outside Jerusalem.

13:21 But I warned them and said, "Why do you spend the night by the wall? If you do this again, I will lay hands on you." From that time on they no longer came on the Sabbath.

13:22 Then I commanded the Levites to purify themselves and go and guard the gates in order to keep the Sabbath day holy. Remember me for this also, O my God, and show mercy to me according to your great love.

13:23 Moreover, in those days I saw men of Judah who had married women from Ashdod, Ammon and Moab.

13:24 Half of their children spoke the language of Ashdod or the language of one of the other peoples, and did not know how to speak the language of Judah.

13:25 I rebuked them and called curses down on them. I beat some of the men and pulled out their hair. I made them take an oath in God's name and said: "You are not to give your daughters in marriage to their sons, nor are you to take their daughters in marriage for your sons or for yourselves.

13:26 Was it not because of marriages like these that Solomon king of Israel sinned? Among the many nations there was no king like him. He was loved by his God, and God made him king over all Israel, but even he was led into sin by foreign women.

13:27 Must we hear now that you too are doing all this terrible wickedness and are being unfaithful to our God by marrying foreign women?"

13:28 One of the sons of Joiada son of Eliashib the high priest was son-in-law to Sanballat the Horonite. And I drove him away from me.

13:29 Remember them, O my God, because they defiled the priestly office and the covenant of the priesthood and of the Levites.

13:30 So I purified the priests and the Levites of everything foreign, and assigned them duties, each to his own task.

Acts (of the Apostles) 23.

23:1 Paul looked straight at the Sanhedrin and said, "My brothers, I have fulfilled my duty to God in all good conscience to this day."

23:2 At this the high priest Ananias ordered those standing near Paul to strike him on the mouth.

23:3 Then Paul said to him, "God will strike you, you whitewashed wall! You sit there to judge me according to the law, yet you yourself violate the law by commanding that I be struck!"

23:4 Those who were standing near Paul said, "You dare to insult God's high priest?"

23:5 Paul replied, "Brothers, I did not realize that he was the high priest; for it is written: 'Do not speak evil about the ruler of your people.'"

23:6 Then Paul, knowing that some of them were Sadducees and the others Pharisees, called out in the Sanhedrin, "My brothers, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee. I stand on trial because of my hope in the resurrection of the dead."

23:7 When he said this, a dispute broke out between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and the assembly was divided.

23:8 (The Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, and that there are neither angels nor spirits, but the Pharisees acknowledge them all.)

23:9 There was a great uproar, and some of the teachers of the law who were Pharisees stood up and argued vigorously. "We find nothing wrong with this man," they said. "What if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?"

23:10 The dispute became so violent that the commander was afraid Paul would be torn to pieces by them. He ordered the troops to go down and take him away from them by force and bring him into the barracks.

23:11 The following night the Lord stood near Paul and said, "Take courage! As you have testified about me in Jerusalem, so you must also testify in Rome."

23:12 The next morning the Jews formed a conspiracy and bound themselves with an oath not to eat or drink until they had killed Paul.

23:13 More than forty men were involved in this plot.

23:14 They went to the chief priests and elders and said, "We have taken a solemn oath not to eat anything until we have killed Paul.

23:15 Now then, you and the Sanhedrin petition the commander to bring him before you on the pretext of wanting more accurate information about his case. We are ready to kill him before he gets here."

23:16 But when the son of Paul's sister heard of this plot, he went into the barracks and told Paul.

23:17 Then Paul called one of the centurions and said, "Take this young man to the commander; he has something to tell him."

23:18 So he took him to the commander. The centurion said, "Paul, the prisoner, sent for me and asked me to bring this young man to you because he has something to tell you."

23:19 The commander took the young man by the hand, drew him aside and asked, "What is it you want to tell me?"

23:20 He said: "The Jews have agreed to ask you to bring Paul before the Sanhedrin tomorrow on the pretext of wanting more accurate information about him.

23:21 Don't give in to them, because more than forty of them are waiting in ambush for him. They have taken an oath not to eat or drink until they have killed him. They are ready now, waiting for your consent to their request."

23:22 The commander dismissed the young man and cautioned him, "Don't tell anyone that you have reported this to me."

23:23 Then he called two of his centurions and ordered them, "Get ready a detachment of two hundred soldiers, seventy horsemen and two hundred spearmen to go to Caesarea at nine tonight.

23:24 Provide mounts for Paul so that he may be taken safely to Governor Felix."

23:25 He wrote a letter as follows:

23:26 Claudius Lysias, To His Excellency, Governor Felix: Greetings.

23:27 This man was seized by the Jews and they were about to kill him, but I came with my troops and rescued him, for I had learned that he is a Roman citizen.

23:28 I wanted to know why they were accusing him, so I brought him to their Sanhedrin.

23:29 I found that the accusation had to do with questions about their law, but there was no charge against him that deserved death or imprisonment.

23:30 When I was informed of a plot to be carried out against the man, I sent him to you at once. I also ordered his accusers to present to you their case against him.

23:31 So the soldiers, carrying out their orders, took Paul with them during the night and brought him as far as Antipatris.

23:32 The next day they let the cavalry go on with him, while they returned to the barracks.

23:33 When the cavalry arrived in Caesarea, they delivered the letter to the governor and handed Paul over to him.

23:34 The governor read the letter and asked what province he was from. Learning that he was from Cilicia,

23:35 he said, "I will hear your case when your accusers get here." Then he ordered that Paul be kept under guard in Herod's palace.
