역대상 24 장.

대상24:1 아론 자손의 계열들이 이러하니라 아론의 아들들은 나답과 아비후와 엘르아살과 이다말이라

대상24:2 나답과 아비후가 그들의 아버지 보다 먼저 죽고 그들에게 아들이 없으므로 엘르아살과 이다말이 제사장의 직분을 행하였더라

대상24:3 다윗이 엘르아살의 자손 사독과 이다말의 자손 아히멜렉과 더불어 그들을 나누어 각각 그 섬기는 직무를 맡겼는데

대상24:4 엘르아살의 자손 중에 우두머리가 이다말의 자손보다 많으므로 나눈 것이 이러하니 엘르아살 자손의 우두머리가 열여섯 명이요 이다말 자손은 그 조상들의 가문을 따라 여덟 명이라

대상24:5 이에 제비 뽑아 피차에 차등이 없이 나누었으니 이는 성전의 일을 다스리는 자와 하나님의 일을 다스리는 자가 엘르아살의 자손 중에도 있고 이다말의 자손 중에도 있음이라

대상24:6 레위 사람 느다넬의 아들 서기관 스마야가 왕과 방백과 제사장 사독과 아비아달의 아들 아히멜렉과 및 제사장과 레위 사람의 우두머리 앞에서 그 이름을 기록하여 엘르아살의 자손 중에서 한 집을 뽑고 이다말의 자손 중에서 한 집을 뽑았으니

대상24:7 첫째로 제비 뽑힌 자는 여호야립이요 둘째는 여다야요

대상24:8 셋째는 하림이요 넷째는 스오림이요

대상24:9 다섯째는 말기야요 여섯째는 미야민이요

대상24:10 일곱째는 학고스요 여덟째는 아비야요

대상24:11 아홉째는 예수아요 열째는 스가냐요

대상24:12 열한째는 엘리아십이요 열두째는 야김이요

대상24:13 열셋째는 훕바요 열넷째는 예세브압이요

대상24:14 열다섯째는 빌가요 열여섯째는 임멜이요

대상24:15 열일곱째는 헤실이요 열여덟째는 합비세스요

대상24:16 열아홉째는 브다히야요 스무째는 여헤스겔이요

대상24:17 스물한째는 야긴이요 스물두째는 가물이요

대상24:18 스물셋쌔는 들라야요 스물넷째는 마아시야라

대상24:19 이와 같은 직무에 따라 여호와의 성전에 들어가서 그의 아버지 아론을 도왔으니 이는 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 명하신 규례더라

대상24:20 레위 자손 중에 남은 자는 이러하니 아므람의 아들들 중에는 수바엘이요 수바엘의 아들들 중에는 예드야며

대상24:21 르하뱌에게 이르러는 그의 아들들 중에 우두머리 잇시야요

대상24:22 이스할의 아들들 중에는 슬로못이요 슬로못의 아들들 중에는 야핫이요

대상24:23 헤브론의 아들들은 장자 여리야와 둘째 아마랴와 셋째 야하시엘과 넷째 여가므암이요

대상24:24 웃시엘의 아들들은 미가요 미가의 아들들 중에는 사밀이요

대상24:25 미가의 아우는 잇시야라 잇시야의 아들들 중에는 스가랴이며

대상24:26 므라리의 아들들은 마흘리와 무시요 야아시야의 아들들은 브노이니

대상24:27 므라리의 자손 야아시야에게서 난 자는 브노와 소함과 삭굴과 이브리요

대상24:28 마흘리의 아들 중에는 엘르아살이니 엘르아살은 아들이 없으며

대상24:29 기스에게 이르러는 그의 아들 여라므엘이요

대상24:30 무시의 아들들은 마흘리와 에델과 여리못이니 이는 다 그 조상의 가문에 따라 기록한 레위 자손이라

대상24:31 이 여러 사람도 다윗 왕과 사독과 아히멜렉과 제사장과 레위 우두머리 앞에서 그들의 형제 아론 자손처럼 제비 뽑혔으니 장자의 가문과 막내 동생의 가문이 다름이 없더라

역대상 25 장.

대상25:1 다윗이 군대 지휘관들과 더불어 아삽과 헤만과 여두둔의 자손 중에서 구별하여 섬기게 하되 수금과 비하와 제금을 잡아 신령한 노래를 하게 하였으니 그 직무대로 일하는 자의 수효는 이러하니라

대상25:2 아삽의 아들들은 삭굴과 요셉과 느다냐와 아사렐라니 이 아삽의 아들들이 아삽의 지휘 아래 왕의 명령을 따라 신령한 노래를 하며

대상25:3 여두둔에게 이르러서는 그의 아들들 그달리야와 스리와 여사야와 시므이와 하사뱌와 맛디디야 여섯 사람이니 그의 아버지 여두둔의 지휘 아래 수금을 잡아 신령한 노래를 하며 여호와께 감사하며 찬양하며

대상25:4 헤만에게 이르러는 그의 아들들 북기야와 맛다냐와 웃시엘과 스브엘과 여리못과 하나냐와 하나니와 엘리아다와 깃달디와 로맘디에셀과 요스브가사와 말로디와 호딜과 마하시옷이라

대상25:5 이는 다 헤만의 아들들이니 나팔을 부는 자들이며 헤만은 하나님의 말씀을 가진 왕의 선견자라 하나님이 헤만에게 열네 아들과 세 딸을 주셨더라

대상25:6 이들이 다 그들의 아버지의 지휘 아래 제금과 비파와 수금을 잡아 여호와의 전에서 노래하여 하나님의 전을 섬겼으며 아삽과 여두둔과 헤만은 왕의 지휘 아래 있었으니

대상25:7 그들과 모든 형제 곧 여호와 찬송하기를 배워 익숙한 자의 수효가 이백 팔십 팔 명이라

대상25:8 이 무리의 큰 자나 작은 자나 스승이나 제자를 막론하고 다같이 제비 뽑아 직임을 얻었으니

대상25:9 첫째로 제비 뽑힌 자는 아삽의 아들 중 요셉이요 둘째는 그달리야이니 그와 그의 형제들과 아들들 십이 명이요

대상25:10 셋째는 삭굴이니 그의 아들들과 형제들과 십이 명이요

대상25:11 넷째는 이스리이니 그의 아들들과 형제들과 십이 명이요

대상25:12 다섯째는 느다냐니 그의 아들들과 형제들과 십이 명이요

대상25:13 여섯째는 북기야니 그의 아들들과 형제들과 십이 명이요

대상25:14 일곱째는 여사렐라니 그의 아들들과 형제들과 십이 명이요

대상25:15 여덟째는 여사야니 그의 아들들과 형제들과 십이 명이요

대상25:16 아홉째는 맛다냐니 그의 아들들과 형제들과 십이 명이요

대상25:17 열째는 시므이니 그의 아들들과 형제들과 십이 명이요

대상25:18 열한째는 아사렐이니 그의 아들들과 십이 명이요

대상25:19 열두째는 하사뱌니 그의 아들들과 십이 명이요

대상25:20 열셋째는 수바엘이니 그의 아들들과 십이 명이요

대상25:21 열넷째는 맛디디야니 그의 아들들과 형제들과 십이 명이요

대상25:22 열다섯째는 여레못이니 그의 아들들과 형제들과 십이 명이요

대상25:23 열여섯째는 하나냐니 그의 아들들과 형제들과 십이 명이요

대상25:24 열일곱째는 요스브가사니 그의 아들들과 형제들과 십이 명이요

대상25:25 열여덟째는 하나니니 그의 아들들과 형제들과 십이 명이요

대상25:26 열아홉째는 말로디니 그의 아들들과 형제들과 십이 명이요

대상25:27 스무째는 엘리아다니 그의 아들들과 형제들과 십이 명이요

대상25:28 스물한째는 호딜이니 그의 아들들과 형제들과 십이 명이요

대상25:29 스물두째는 깃달디니 그의 아들들과 형제들과 십이 명이요

대상25:30 스물셋째는 마하시옷이니 그의 아들들과 형제들과 십이 명이요

대상25:31 스물넷째는 로맘디에셀이니 그의 아들들과 형제들과 십이 명이었더라

베드로전서 5 장.

벧전5:1 너희 중 장로들에게 권하노니 나는 함께 장로 된 자요 그리스도의 고난의 증인이요 나타날 영광에 참여할 자니라

벧전5:2 너희 중에 있는 하나님의 양 무리를 치되 억지로 하지 말고 하나님의 뜻을 따라 자원함으로 하며 더러운 이득을 위하여 하지 말고 기꺼이 하며

벧전5:3 맡은 자들에게 주장하는 자세를 하지 말고 양 무리의 본이 되라

벧전5:4 그리하면 목자장이 나타나실 때에 시들지 아니하는 영광의 관을 얻으리라

벧전5:5 젊은 자들아 이와 같이 장로들에게 순종하고 다 서로 겸손으로 허리를 동이라 하나님은 교만한 자를 대적하시되 겸손한 자들에게는 은혜를 주시느니라

벧전5:6 그러므로 하나님의 능하신 손 아래에서 겸손하라 때가 되면 너희를 높이시리라

벧전5:7 너희 염려를 다 주께 맡기라 이는 그가 너희를 돌보심이라

벧전5:8 근신하라 깨어라 너희 대적 마귀가 우는 사자 같이 두루 다니며 삼킬 자를 찾나니

벧전5:9 너희는 믿음을 굳건하게 하여 그를 대적하라 이는 세상에 있는 너희 형제들도 동일한 고난을 당하는 줄을 앎이라

벧전5:10 모든 은혜의 하나님 곧 그리스도 안에서 너희를 부르사 자기의 영원한 영광에 들어가게 하신 이가 잠깐 고난을 당한 너희를 친히 온전하게 하시며 굳건하게 하시며 강하게 하시며 터를 견고하게 하시리라

벧전5:11 권능이 세세무궁하도록 그에게 있을지어다 아멘

벧전5:12 내가 신실한 형제로 아는 실루아노로 말미암아 너희에게 간단히 써서 권하고 이것이 하나님의 참된 은혜임을 증언하노니 너희는 이 은혜에 굳게 서라

벧전5:13 택하심을 함께 받은 바벨론에 있는 교회가 너희에게 문안하고 내 아들 마가도 그리하느니라

벧전5:14 너희는 사랑의 입맞춤으로 서로 문안하라 그리스도 안에 있는 너희 모든 이에게 평강이 있을지어다

미가 3 장.

미3:1 내가 또 이르노니 야곱의 우두머리들과 이스라엘 족속의 통치자들아 들으라 정의를 아는 것이 너희의 본분이 아니냐

미3:2 너희가 선을 미워하고 악을 기뻐하여 내 백성의 가죽을 벗기고 그 뼈에서 살을 뜯어

미3:3 그들의 살을 먹으며 그 가죽을 벗기며 그 뼈를 꺾어 다지기를 냄비와 솥 가운데에 담을 고기처럼 하는도다

미3:4 그 때에 그들이 여호와께 부르짖을지라도 응답하지 아니하시고 그들의 행위가 악했던 만큼 그들 앞에 얼굴을 가리시리라

미3:5 내 백성을 유혹하는 선지자들은 이에 물 것이 있으면 평강을 외치나 그 입에 무엇을 채워 주지 아니하는 자에게는 전쟁을 준비하는도다 이런 선지자에 대하여 여호와께서 이르시되

미3:6 그러므로 너희가 밤을 만나리니 이상을 보지 못할 것이요 어둠을 만나리니 점치지 못하리라 하셨나니 이 선지자 위에는 해가 져서 낮이 캄캄할 것이라

미3:7 선견자가 부끄러워하며 술객이 수치를 당하여 다 입술을 가릴 것은 하나님이 응답하지 아니하심이거니와

미3:8 오직 나는 여호와의 영으로 말미암아 능력과 정의와 용기로 충만해져서 야곱의 허물과 이스라엘의 죄를 그들에게 보이리라

미3:9 야곱 족속의 우두머리들과 이스라엘 족속의 통치자들 곧 정의를 미워하고 정직한 것을 굽게 하는 자들아 원하노니 이 말을 들을지어다

미3:10 시온을 피로, 예루살렘을 죄악으로 건축하는도다

미3:11 그들의 우두머리들은 뇌물을 위하여 재판하며 그들의 제사장은 삯을 위하여 교훈하며 그들의 선지자는 돈을 위하여 점을 치면서도 여호와를 의뢰하여 이르기를 여호와께서 우리 중에 계시지 아니하냐 재앙이 우리에게 임하지 아니하리라 하는도다

미3:12 이러므로 너희로 말미암아 시온은 갈아엎은 밭이 되고 예루살렘은 무더기가 되고 성전의 산은 수풀의 높은 곳이 되리라 하시더라

누가복음 12 장.

눅12:1 그 동안에 무리 수만 명이 모여 서로 밟힐 만큼 되었더니 예수께서 먼저 제자들에게 말씀하여 이르시되 바리새인들의 누룩 곧 외식을 주의하라

눅12:2 감추인 것이 드러나지 않을 것이 없고 숨긴 것이 알려지지 않을 것이 없나니

눅12:3 이러므로 너희가 어두운 데서 말한 모든 것이 광명한 데서 들리고 너희가 골방에서 귀에 대고 말한 것이 지붕 위에서 전파되리라

눅12:4 내가 내 친구 너희에게 말하노니 몸을 죽이고 그 후에는 능히 더 못하는 자들을 두려워하지 말라

눅12:5 마땅히 두려워할 자를 내가 너희에게 보이리니 곧 죽인 후에 또한 지옥에 던져 넣는 권세 있는 그를 두려워하라 내가 참으로 너희에게 이르노니 그를 두려워하라

눅12:6 참새 다섯 마리가 두 앗사리온에 팔리는 것이 아니냐 그러나 하나님 앞에는 그 하나도 잊어버리시는 바 되지 아니하는도다

눅12:7 너희에게는 심지어 머리털까지도 다 세신 바 되었나니 두려워하지 말라 너희는 많은 참새보다 더 귀하니라

눅12:8 내가 또한 너희에게 말하노니 누구든지 사람 앞에서 나를 시인하면 인자도 하나님의 사자들 앞에서 그를 시인할 것이요

눅12:9 사람 앞에서 나를 부인하는 자는 하나님의 사자들 앞에서 부인을 당하리라

눅12:10 누구든지 말로 인자를 거역하면 사하심을 받으려니와 성령을 모독하는 자는 사하심을 받지 못하리라

눅12:11 사람이 너희를 회당이나 위정자나 권세 있는 자 앞에 끌고 가거든 어떻게 무엇으로 대답하며 무엇으로 말할까 염려하지 말라

눅12:12 마땅히 할 말을 성령이 곧 그 때에 너희에게 가르치시리라 하시니라

눅12:13 무리 중에 한 사람이 이르되 선생님 내 형을 명하여 유산을 나와 나누게 하소서 하니

눅12:14 이르시되 이 사람아 누가 나를 너희의 재판장이나 물건 나누는 자로 세웠느냐 하시고

눅12:15 그들에게 이르시되 삼가 모든 탐심을 물리치라 사람의 생명이 그 소유의 넉넉한 데 있지 아니하니라 하시고

눅12:16 또 비유로 그들에게 말하여 이르시되 한 부자가 그 밭에 소출이 풍성하매

눅12:17 심중에 생각하여 이르되 내가 곡식 쌓아 둘 곳이 없으니 어찌할까 하고

눅12:18 또 이르되 내가 이렇게 하리라 내 곳간을 헐고 더 크게 짓고 내 모든 곡식과 물건을 거기 쌓아 두리라

눅12:19 또 내가 내 영혼에게 이르되 영혼아 여러 해 쓸 물건을 많이 쌓아 두었으니 평안히 쉬고 먹고 마시고 즐거워하자 하리라 하되

눅12:20 하나님은 이르시되 어리석은 자여 오늘 밤에 네 영혼을 도로 찾으리니 그러면 네 준비한 것이 누구의 것이 되겠느냐 하셨으니

눅12:21 자기를 위하여 재물을 쌓아 두고 하나님께 대하여 부요하지 못한 자가 이와 같으니라

눅12:22 또 제자들에게 이르시되 그러므로 내가 너희에게 이르노니 너희 목숨을 위하여 무엇을 먹을까 몸을 위하여 무엇을 입을까 염려하지 말라

눅12:23 목숨이 음식보다 중하고 몸이 의복보다 중하니라

눅12:24 까마귀를 생각하라 심지도 아니하고 거두지도 아니하며 골방도 없고 창고도 없으되 하나님이 기르시나니 너희는 새보다 얼마나 더 귀하냐

눅12:25 또 너희 중에 누가 염려함으로 그 키를 한 자라도 더할 수 있느냐

눅12:26 그런즉 가장 작은 일도 하지 못하면서 어찌 다른 일들을 염려하느냐

눅12:27 백합화를 생각하여 보아라 실도 만들지 않고 짜지도 아니하느니라 그러나 내가 너희에게 말하노니 솔로몬의 모든 영광으로도 입은 것이 이 꽃 하나만큼 훌륭하지 못하였느니라

눅12:28 오늘 있다가 내일 아궁이에 던져지는 들풀도 하나님이 이렇게 입히시거든 하물며 너희일까보냐 믿음이 작은 자들아

눅12:29 너희는 무엇을 먹을까 무엇을 마실까 하여 구하지 말며 근심하지도 말라

눅12:30 이 모든 것은 세상 백성들이 구하는 것이라 너희 아버지께서는 이런 것이 너희에게 있어야 할 것을 아시느니라

눅12:31 다만 너희는 그의 나라를 구하라 그리하면 이런 것들을 너희에게 더하시리라

눅12:32 적은 무리여 무서워 말라 너희 아버지께서 그 나라를 너희에게 주시기를 기뻐하시느니라

눅12:33 너희 소유를 팔아 구제하여 낡아지지 아니하는 배낭을 만들라 곧 하늘에 둔 바 다함이 없는 보물이니 거기는 도둑도 가까이 하는 일이 없고 좀도 먹는 일이 없느니라

눅12:34 너희 보물 있는 곳에는 너희 마음도 있으리라

눅12:35 허리에 띠를 띠고 등불을 켜고 서 있으라

눅12:36 너희는 마치 그 주인이 혼인 집에서 돌아와 문을 두드리면 곧 열어 주려고 기다리는 사람과 같이 되라

눅12:37 주인이 와서 깨어 있는 것을 보면 그 종들은 복이 있으리로다 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 주인이 띠를 띠고 그 종들을 자리에 앉히고 나아와 수종들리라

눅12:38 주인이 혹 이경에나 혹 삼경에 이르러서도 종들이 그같이 하고 있는 것을 보면 그 종들은 복이 있으리로다

눅12:39 너희도 아는 바니 집 주인이 만일 도둑이 어느 때에 이를 줄 알았더라면 그 집을 뚫지 못하게 하였으리라

눅12:40 그러므로 너희도 준비하고 있으라 생각하지 않은 때에 인자가 오리라 하시니라

눅12:41 베드로가 여짜오되 주께서 이 비유를 우리에게 하심이니이까 모든 사람에게 하심이니이까

눅12:42 주께서 이르시되 지혜 있고 진실한 청지기가 되어 주인에게 그 집 종들을 맡아 때를 따라 양식을 나누어 줄 자가 누구냐

눅12:43 주인이 이를 때에 그 종이 그렇게 하는 것을 보면 그 종은 복이 있으리로다

눅12:44 내가 참으로 너희에게 이르노니 주인이 그 모든 소유를 그에게 맡기리라

눅12:45 만일 그 종이 마음에 생각하기를 주인이 더디 오리라 하여 남녀 종들을 때리며 먹고 마시고 취하게 되면

눅12:46 생각하지 않은 날 알지 못하는 시간에 그 종의 주인이 이르러 엄히 때리고 신실하지 아니한 자의 받는 벌에 처하리니

눅12:47 주인의 뜻을 알고도 준비하지 아니하고 그 뜻대로 행하지 아니한 종은 많이 맞을 것이요

눅12:48 알지 못하고 맞을 일을 행한 종은 적게 맞으리라 무릇 많이 받은 자에게는 많이 요구할 것이요 많이 맡은 자에게는 많이 달라 할 것이니라

눅12:49 내가 불을 땅에 던지러 왔노니 이 불이 이미 붙었으면 내가 무엇을 원하리요

눅12:50 나는 받을 세례가 있으니 그것이 이루어지기까지 나의 답답함이 어떠하겠느냐

눅12:51 내가 세상에 화평을 주려고 온 줄로 아느냐 내가 너희에게 이르노니 아니라 도리어 분쟁하게 하려 함이로라

눅12:52 이후부터 한 집에 다섯 사람이 있어 분쟁하되 셋이 둘과, 둘이 셋과 하리니

눅12:53 아버지가 아들과, 아들이 아버지와, 어머니가 딸과, 딸이 어머니와, 시어머니가 며느리와, 며느리가 시어머니와 분쟁하리라 하시니라

눅12:54 또 무리에게 이르시되 너희가 구름이 서쪽에서 이는 것을 보면 곧 말하기를 소나기가 오리라 하나니 과연 그러하고

눅12:55 남풍이 부는 것을 보면 말하기를 심히 더우리라 하나니 과연 그러하니라

눅12:56 외식하는 자여 너희가 천지의 기상은 분간할 줄을 알면서 어찌 이 시대는 분간하지 못하느냐

눅12:57 또 어찌하여 옳은 것을 스스로 판단하지 아니하느냐

눅12:58 네가 너를 고발하는 자와 함께 법관에게 갈 때에 길에서 화해하기를 힘쓰라 그가 너를 재판장에게 끌어 가고 재판장이 너를 옥졸에게 넘겨 주어 옥졸이 옥에 가둘까 염려하라

눅12:59 네게 이르노니 한 푼이라도 남김이 없이 갚지 아니하고서는 결코 거기서 나오지 못하리라 하시니라

1 Chronicles 24.

24:1 David, together with the commanders of the army, set apart some of the sons of Asaph, Heman and Jeduthun for the ministry of prophesying, accompanied by harps, lyres and cymbals. Here is the list of the men who performed this service:

24:2 From the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah and Asarelah. The sons of Asaph were under the supervision of Asaph, who prophesied under the king's supervision.

24:3 As for Jeduthun, from his sons: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah and Mattithiah, six in all, under the supervision of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied, using the harp in thanking and praising the LORD.

24:4 As for Heman, from his sons: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shubael and Jerimoth; Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti and Romamti-Ezer; Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir and Mahazioth.

24:5 All these were sons of Heman the king's seer. They were given him through the promises of God to exalt him. God gave Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.

24:6 All these men were under the supervision of their fathers for the music of the temple of the LORD, with cymbals, lyres and harps, for the ministry at the house of God. Asaph, Jeduthun and Heman were under the supervision of the king.

24:7 Along with their relatives--all of them trained and skilled in music for the LORD--they numbered 288.

24:8 Young and old alike, teacher as well as student, cast lots for their duties.

24:9 The first lot, which was for Asaph, fell to Joseph, his sons and relatives,

24:12 the second to Gedaliah, he and his relatives and sons,

24:10 the third to Zaccur, his sons and relatives,

24:11 the fourth to Izri, his sons and relatives,

24:12 the fifth to Nethaniah, his sons and relatives,

24:13 the sixth to Bukkiah, his sons and relatives,

24:14 the seventh to Jesarelah, his sons and relatives,

24:15 the eighth to Jeshaiah, his sons and relatives,

24:16 the ninth to Mattaniah, his sons and relatives,

24:17 the tenth to Shimei, his sons and relatives,

24:18 the eleventh to Azarel, his sons and relatives,

24:19 the twelfth to Hashabiah, his sons and relatives,

24:20 the thirteenth to Shubael, his sons and relatives,

24:21 the fourteenth to Mattithiah, his sons and relatives,

24:22 the fifteenth to Jerimoth, his sons and relatives,

24:23 the sixteenth to Hananiah, his sons and relatives,

24:24 the seventeenth to Joshbekashah, his sons and relatives,

24:25 the eighteenth to Hanani, his sons and relatives,

24:26 the nineteenth to Mallothi, his sons and relatives,

24:27 the twentieth to Eliathah, his sons and relatives,

24:28 the twenty-first to Hothir, his sons and relatives,

24:29 the twenty-second to Giddalti, his sons and relatives,

1 Chronicles 25.

25:1 The divisions of the gatekeepers: From the Korahites: Meshelemiah son of Kore, one of the sons of Asaph.

25:2 Meshelemiah had sons: Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth,

25:3 Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth and Eliehoenai the seventh.

25:4 Obed-Edom also had sons: Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sacar the fourth, Nethanel the fifth,

25:5 Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh and Peullethai the eighth. (For God had blessed Obed-Edom.)

25:6 His son Shemaiah also had sons, who were leaders in their father's family because they were very capable men.

25:7 The sons of Shemaiah: Othni, Rephael, Obed and Elzabad; his relatives Elihu and Semakiah were also able men.

25:8 All these were descendants of Obed-Edom; they and their sons and their relatives were capable men with the strength to do the work--descendants of Obed-Edom, 62 in all.

25:9 Meshelemiah had sons and relatives, who were able men--18 in all.

25:10 Hosah the Merarite had sons: Shimri the first (although he was not the firstborn, his father had appointed him the first),

25:11 Hilkiah the second, Tabaliah the third and Zechariah the fourth. The sons and relatives of Hosah were

25:13 in all.

25:12 These divisions of the gatekeepers, through their chief men, had duties for ministering in the temple of the LORD, just as their relatives had. 13 Lots were cast for each gate, according to their families, young and old alike.

25:14 The lot for the East Gate fell to Shelemiah. Then lots were cast for his son Zechariah, a wise counselor, and the lot for the North Gate fell to him.

25:15 The lot for the South Gate fell to Obed-Edom, and the lot for the storehouse fell to his sons.

25:16 The lots for the West Gate and the Shalleketh Gate on the upper road fell to Shuppim and Hosah. Guard was alongside of guard:

25:17 There were six Levites a day on the east, four a day on the north, four a day on the south and two at a time at the storehouse.

25:18 As for the court to the west, there were four at the road and two at the court itself.

25:19 These were the divisions of the gatekeepers who were descendants of Korah and Merari.

25:20 Their fellow Levites were in charge of the treasuries of the house of God and the treasuries for the dedicated things.

25:21 The descendants of Ladan, who were Gershonites through Ladan and who were heads of families belonging to Ladan the Gershonite, were Jehieli,

25:22 the sons of Jehieli, Zetham and his brother Joel. They were in charge of the treasuries of the temple of the LORD.

25:23 From the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites and the Uzzielites:

25:24 Shubael, a descendant of Gershom son of Moses, was the officer in charge of the treasuries.

25:25 His relatives through Eliezer: Rehabiah his son, Jeshaiah his son, Joram his son, Zicri his son and Shelomith his son.

25:26 Shelomith and his relatives were in charge of all the treasuries for the things dedicated by King David, by the heads of families who were the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds, and by the other army commanders.

25:27 Some of the plunder taken in battle they dedicated for the repair of the temple of the LORD.

25:28 And everything dedicated by Samuel the seer and by Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner and Joab son of Zeruiah, and all the other dedicated things were in the care of Shelomith and his relatives.

25:29 From the Izharites: Kenaniah and his sons were assigned duties away from the temple, as officials and judges over Israel.

25:30 From the Hebronites: Hashabiah and his relatives--seventeen hundred able men--were responsible in Israel west of the Jordan for all the work of the LORD and for the king's service.

25:31 As for the Hebronites, Jeriah was their chief according to the genealogical records of their families. In the fortieth year of David's reign a search was made in the records, and capable men among the Hebronites were found at Jazer in Gilead.

25:32 Jeriah had twenty-seven hundred relatives, who were able men and heads of families, and King David put them in charge of the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh for every matter pertaining to God and for the affairs of the king.

1 Peter 5.

5:1 To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder, a witness of Christ's sufferings and one who also will share in the glory to be revealed:

5:2 Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers--not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve;

5:3 not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.

5:4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.

5:5 Young men, in the same way be submissive to those who are older. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."

5:6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.

5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

5:8 Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

5:9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

5:10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.

5:11 To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.

5:12 With the help of Silas, whom I regard as a faithful brother, I have written to you briefly, encouraging you and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand fast in it.

5:13 She who is in Babylon, chosen together with you, sends you her greetings, and so does my son Mark.

Micah 3.

3:1 Then I said, "Listen, you leaders of Jacob, you rulers of the house of Israel. Should you not know justice,

3:2 you who hate good and love evil; who tear the skin from my people and the flesh from their bones;

3:3 who eat my people's flesh, strip off their skin and break their bones in pieces; who chop them up like meat for the pan, like flesh for the pot?"

3:4 Then they will cry out to the LORD, but he will not answer them. At that time he will hide his face from them because of the evil they have done.

3:5 This is what the LORD says: "As for the prophets who lead my people astray, if one feeds them, they proclaim 'peace'; if he does not, they prepare to wage war against him.

3:6 Therefore night will come over you, without visions, and darkness, without divination. The sun will set for the prophets, and the day will go dark for them.

3:7 The seers will be ashamed and the diviners disgraced. They will all cover their faces because there is no answer from God."

3:8 But as for me, I am filled with power, with the Spirit of the LORD, and with justice and might, to declare to Jacob his transgression, to Israel his sin.

3:9 Hear this, you leaders of the house of Jacob, you rulers of the house of Israel, who despise justice and distort all that is right;

3:10 who build Zion with bloodshed, and Jerusalem with wickedness.

3:11 Her leaders judge for a bribe, her priests teach for a price, and her prophets tell fortunes for money. Yet they lean upon the LORD and say, "Is not the LORD among us? No disaster will come upon us."

3:12 Therefore because of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a heap of rubble, the temple hill a mound overgrown with thickets.

Luke 12.

12:1 Meanwhile, when a crowd of many thousands had gathered, so that they were trampling on one another, Jesus began to speak first to his disciples, saying: "Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

12:2 There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.

12:3 What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs.

12:4 "I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more.

12:5 But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.

12:6 Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God.

12:7 Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

12:8 "I tell you, whoever acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man will also acknowledge him before the angels of God.

12:9 But he who disowns me before men will be disowned before the angels of God.

12:10 And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.

12:11 "When you are brought before synagogues, rulers and authorities, do not worry about how you will defend yourselves or what you will say,

12:12 for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say."

12:13 Someone in the crowd said to him, "Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me."

12:14 Jesus replied, "Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?"

12:15 Then he said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."

12:16 And he told them this parable: "The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop.

12:17 He thought to himself, 'What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.'

12:18 "Then he said, 'This is what I'll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.

12:19 And I'll say to myself, "You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry."'

12:20 "But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?'

12:21 "This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God."

12:22 Then Jesus said to his disciples: "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear.

12:23 Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.

12:24 Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!

12:25 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

12:26 Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?

12:27 "Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.

12:28 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith!

12:29 And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it.

12:30 For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them.

12:31 But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.

12:32 "Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.

12:33 Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.

12:34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

12:35 "Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning,

12:36 like men waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him.

12:37 It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. I tell you the truth, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them.

12:38 It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the second or third watch of the night.

12:39 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into.

12:40 You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him."

12:41 Peter asked, "Lord, are you telling this parable to us, or to everyone?"

12:42 The Lord answered, "Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their food allowance at the proper time?

12:43 It will be good for that servant whom the master finds doing so when he returns.

12:44 I tell you the truth, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.

12:45 But suppose the servant says to himself, 'My master is taking a long time in coming,' and he then begins to beat the menservants and maidservants and to eat and drink and get drunk.

12:46 The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the unbelievers.

12:47 "That servant who knows his master's will and does not get ready or does not do what his master wants will be beaten with many blows.

12:48 But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.

12:49 "I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!

12:50 But I have a baptism to undergo, and how distressed I am until it is completed!

12:51 Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division.

12:52 From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three.

12:53 They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law."

12:54 He said to the crowd: "When you see a cloud rising in the west, immediately you say, 'It's going to rain,' and it does.

12:55 And when the south wind blows, you say, 'It's going to be hot,' and it is.

12:56 Hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky. How is it that you don't know how to interpret this present time?

12:57 "Why don't you judge for yourselves what is right?

12:58 As you are going with your adversary to the magistrate, try hard to be reconciled to him on the way, or he may drag you off to the judge, and the judge turn you over to the officer, and the officer throw you into prison.

12:59 I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny."
