신명기 13 장.

신13:1 너희 중에 선지자나 꿈 꾸는 자가 일어나서 이적과 기사를 네게 보이고

신13:2 그가 네게 말한 그 이적과 기사가 이루어지고 너희가 알지 못 하던 다른 신들을 우리가 따라 섬기자고 말할지라도

신13:3 너는 그 선지자나 꿈 꾸는 자의 말을 청종하지 말라 이는 너희의 하나님 여호와께서 너희가 마음을 다하고 뜻을 다하여 너희의 하나님 여호와를 사랑하는 여부를 알려 하사 너희를 시험하심이니라

신13:4 너희는 너희의 하나님 여호와를 따르며 그를 경외하며 그의 명령을 지키며 그의 목소리를 청종하며 그를 섬기며 그를 의지하며

신13:5 그런 선지자나 꿈 꾸는 자는 죽이라 이는 그가 너희에게 너희를 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 내시며 종 되었던 집에서 속량하신 너희의 하나님 여호와를 배반하게 하려 하며 너희의 하나님 여호와께서 네게 행하라 명령하신 도에서 너를 꾀어내려고 말하였음이라 너는 이같이 하여 너희 중에서 악을 제할지니라

신13:6 네 어머니의 아들 곧 네 형제나 네 자녀나 네 품의 아내나 너와 생명을 함께 하는 친구가 가만히 너를 꾀어 이르기를 너와 네 조상들이 알지 못하던 다른 신들

신13:7 곧 네 사방을 둘러싸고 있는 민족 혹 네게서 가깝든지 네게서 멀든지 땅 이 끝에서 저 끝까지에 있는 민족의 신들을 우리가 가서 섬기자 할지라도

신13:8 너는 그를 따르지 말며 듣지 말며 긍휼히 여기지 말며 애석히 여기지 말며 덮어 숨기지 말고

신13:9 너는 용서 없이 그를 죽이되 죽일 때에 네가 먼저 그에게 손을 대고 후에 뭇 백성이 손을 대라

신13:10 그는 애굽 땅 종 되었던 집에서 너를 인도하여 내신 네 하나님 여호와에게서 너를 꾀어 떠나게 하려 한 자이니 너는 돌로 쳐죽이라

신13:11 그리하면 온 이스라엘이 듣고 두려워하여 이같은 악을 다시는 너희 중에서 행하지 못하리라

신13:12 네 하나님 여호와께서 네게 주어 거주하게 하시는 한 성읍에 대하여 네게 소문이 들리기 를

신13:13 너희 가운데서 어떤 불량배가 일어나서 그 성읍 주민을 유혹하여 이르기를 너희가 알지 못하던 다른 신들을 우리가 가서 섬기자 한다 하거든

신13:14 이런 가증한 일이 너희 가운데에 있다는 것이 확실한 사실로 드러나면

신13:15 너는 마땅히 그 성읍 주민을 칼날로 죽이고 그 성읍과 그 가운데에 거주하는 모든 것과 그 가축을 칼날로 진멸하고

신13:16 또 그 속에서 빼앗아 차지한 물건을 다 거리에 모아 놓고 그 성읍과 그 탈취물 전부를 불살라 네 하나님 여호와께 드릴지니 그 성읍은 영구히 폐허가 되어 다시는 건축되지 아니할 것이라

신13:17 너는 이 진멸할 물건을 조금도 네 손에 대지 말라 그리하면 여호와께서 그의 진노를 그치시고 너를 긍휼히 여기시고 자비를 더하사 네 조상들에게 맹세하심 같이 너를 번성하게 하실 것이라

신13:18 네가 만일 네 하나님 여호와의 말씀을 듣고 오늘 내가 네게 명하는 그 모든 명령을 지켜 네 하나님 여호와의 목전에서 정직하게 행하면 이같이 되리라

신명기 14 장.

신14:1 너희는 너희 하나님 여호와의 자녀이니 죽은 자를 위하여 자기 몸을 베지 말며 눈썹 사이 이마 위의 털을 밀지 말라

신14:2 너는 네 하나님 여호와의 성민이라 여호와께서 지상 만민 중에서 너를 택하여 자기 기업의 백성으로 삼으셨느니라

신14:3 너는 가증한 것은 무엇이든지 먹지 말라

신14:4 너희가 먹을 만한 짐승은 이러하니 곧 소와 양과 염소와

신14:5 사슴과 노루와 불그스름한 사슴과 산 염소와 볼기가 흰 노루와 뿔이 긴 사슴과 산양들이라

신14:6 짐승 중에 굽이 갈라져 쪽발도 되고 새김질도 하는 모든 것은 너희가 먹을 것이니라

신14:7 다만 새김질을 하거나 굽이 갈라진 짐승 중에도 너희가 먹지 못할 것은 이것이니 곧 낙타와 토끼와 사반, 그것들은 새김질은 하나 굽이 갈라지지 아니하였으니 너희에게 부정하고

신14:8 돼지는 굽은 갈라졌으나 새김질을 못하므로 너희에게 부정하니 너희는 이런 것의 고기를 먹지 말 것이며 그 시체도 만지지 말 것이니라

신14:9 물에 있는 모든 것 중에서 이런 것은 너희가 먹을 것이니 지느러미와 비늘 있는 모든 것은 너희가 먹을 것이요

신14:10 지느러미와 비늘이 없는 모든 것은 너희가 먹지 말지니 이는 너희에게 부정함이니라

신14:11 정한 새는 모두 너희가 먹으려니와

신14:12 이런 것은 먹지 못할지니 곧 독수리와 솔개와 물수리와

신14:13 매와 새매와 매의 종류와

신14:14 까마귀 종류와

신14:15 타조와 타흐마스와 갈매기와 새매 종류와

신14:16 올빼미와 부엉이와 흰 올빼미와

신14:17 당아와 올응과 노자와

신14:18 학과 황새 종류와 대승과 박쥐며

신14:19 또 날기도 하고 기어다니기도 하는 것은 너희에게 부정하니 너희는 먹지 말 것이나

신14:20 정한 새는 모두 너희가 먹을지니라

신14:21 너희는 너희의 하나님 여호와의 성민이라 스스로 죽은 모든 것은 먹지 말 것이나 그것을 성중에 거류하는 객에게 주어 먹게 하거나 이방인에게 파는 것은 가하니라 너는 염소 새끼를 그 어미의 젖에 삶지 말지니라

신14:22 너는 마땅히 매 년 토지 소산의 십일조를 드릴 것이며

신14:23 네 하나님 여호와 앞 곧 여호와께서 그의 이름을 두시려고 택하신 곳에서 네 곡식과 포도주와 기름의 십일조를 먹으며 또 네 소와 양의 처음 난 것을 먹고 네 하나님 여호와 경외하기를 항상 배울 것이니라

신14:24 그러나 네 하나님 여호와께서 자기의 이름을 두시려고 택하신 곳이 네게서 너무 멀고 행로가 어려워서 네 하나님 여호와께서 그 풍부히 주신 것을 가지고 갈 수 없거든

신14:25 그것을 돈으로 바꾸어 그 돈을 싸 가지고 네 하나님 여호와께서 택하신 곳으로 가서

신14:26 네 마음에 원하는 모든 것을 그 돈으로 사되 소나 양이나 포도주나 독주 등 네 마음에 원하는 모든 것을 구하고 거기 네 하나님 여호와 앞에서 너와 네 권속이 함께 먹고 즐거워할 것이며

신14:27 네 성읍에 거주하는 레위인은 너희 중에 분깃이나 기업이 없는 자이니 또한 저버리지 말지니라

신14:28 매 삼 년 끝에 그 해 소산의 십 분의 일을 다 내어 네 성읍에 저축하여

신14:29 너희 중에 분깃이나 기업이 없는 레위인과 네 성중에 거류하는 객과 및 고아와 과부들이 와서 먹고 배부르게 하라 그리하면 네 하나님 여호와께서 네 손으로 하는 범사에 네게 복을 주시리라

시편 99 장.

시99:1 여호와께서 다스리시니 만민이 떨 것이요 여호와께서 그룹 사이에 좌정하시니 땅이 흔들릴 것이로다

시99:2 시온에 계시는 여호와는 위대하시고 모든 민족보다 높으시도다

시99:3 주의 크고 두려운 이름을 찬송할지니 그는 거룩하심이로다

시99:4 능력 있는 왕은 정의를 사랑하느니라 주께서 공의를 견고하게 세우시고 주께서 야곱에게 정의와 공의를 행하시나이다

시99:5 너희는 여호와 우리 하나님을 높여 그의 발등상 앞에서 경배할지어다 그는 거룩하시도다

시99:6 그의 제사장들 중에는 모세와 아론이 있고 그의 이름을 부르는 자들 중에는 사무엘이 있도다 그들이 여호와께 간구하매 응답하셨도다

시99:7 여호와께서 구름 기둥 가운데서 그들에게 말씀하시니 그들은 그가 그들에게 주신 증거와 율례를 지켰도다

시99:8 여호와 우리 하나님이여 주께서는 그들에게 응답하셨고 그들의 행한 대로 갚기는 하셨으나 그들을 용서하신 하나님이시니이다

시99:9 너희는 여호와 우리 하나님을 높이고 그 성산에서 예배할지어다 여호와 우리 하나님은 거룩하심이로다

시편 100 장.

시100:1 온 땅이여 여호와께 즐거운 찬송을 부를지어다

시100:2 기쁨으로 여호와를 섬기며 노래하면서 그의 앞에 나아갈지어다

시100:3 여호와가 우리 하나님이신 줄 너희는 알지어다 그는 우리를 지으신 이요 우리는 그의 것이니 그의 백성이요 그의 기르시는 양이로다

시100:4 감사함으로 그의 문에 들어가며 찬송함으로 그의 궁정에 들어가서 그에게 감사하며 그의 이름을 송축할지어다

시100:5 여호와는 선하시니 그의 인자하심이 영원하고 그의 성실하심이 대대에 이르리로다

시편 101 장.

시101:1 내가 인자와 정의를 노래하겠나이다 여호와여 내가 주께 찬양하리이다

시101:2 내가 완전한 길을 주목하오리니 주께서 언제까지 내게 임하시겠나이까 내가 완전한 마음으로 내 집안에서 행하리이다

시101:3 나는 비천한 것을 내 눈앞에 두지 아니할 것이요 배교자들의 행위를 내가 미워하오리니 나는 그 어느 것도 붙들지 아니하리이다

시101:4 사악한 마음이 내게서 떠날 것이니 악한 일을 내가 알지 아니하리로다

시101:5 자기의 이웃을 은근히 헐뜯는 자를 내가 멸할 것이요 눈이 높고 마음이 교만한 자를 내가 용납하지 아니하리로다

시101:6 내 눈이 이 땅의 충성된 자를 살펴 나와 함께 살게 하리니 완전한 길에 행하는 자가 나를 따르리로다

시101:7 거짓을 행하는 자는 내 집안에 거주하지 못하며 거짓말하는 자는 내 목전에 서지 못하리로다

시101:8 아침마다 내가 이 땅의 모든 악인을 멸하리니 악을 행하는 자는 여호와의 성에서 다 끊어지리로다

이사야 41 장.

사41:1 섬들아 내 앞에 잠잠하라 민족들아 힘을 새롭게 하라 가까이 나아오라 그리고 말하라 우리가 서로 재판 자리에 가까이 나아가자

사41:2 누가 동방에서 사람을 일깨워서 공의로 그를 불러 자기 발 앞에 이르게 하였느냐 열국을 그의 앞에 넘겨주며 그가 왕들을 다스리게 하되 그들이 그의 칼에 티끌 같게, 그의 활에 불리는 초개 같게 하매

사41:3 그가 그들을 쫓아가서 그의 발로 가 보지 못한 길을 안전히 지났나니

사41:4 이 일을 누가 행하였느냐 누가 이루었느냐 누가 처음부터 만대를 불러내었느냐 나 여호와라 처음에도 나요 나중 있을 자에게도 내가 곧 그니라

사41:5 섬들이 보고 두려워하며 땅 끝이 무서워 떨며 함께 모여 와서

사41:6 각기 이웃을 도우며 그 형제에게 이르기를 너는 힘을 내라 하고

사41:7 목공은 금장색을 격려하며 망치로 고르게 하는 자는 메질꾼을 격려하며 이르되 땜질이 잘 된다 하니 그가 못을 단단히 박아 우상을 흔들리지 아니하게 하는도다

사41:8 그러나 나의 종 너 이스라엘아 내가 택한 야곱아 나의 벗 아브라함의 자손아

사41:9 내가 땅 끝에서부터 너를 붙들며 땅 모퉁이에서부터 너를 부르고 네게 이르기를 너는 나의 종이라 내가 너를 택하고 싫어하여 버리지 아니하였다 하였노라

사41:10 두려워 하지 말라 내가 너와 함께 함이라 놀라지 말라 나는 네 하나님이 됨이라 내가 너를 굳세게 하리라 참으로 너를 도와 주리라 참으로 나의 의로운 오른손으로 너를 붙들리라

사41:11 보라 네게 노하던 자들이 수치와 욕을 당할 것이요 너와 다투는 자들이 아무것도 아닌 것 같이 될 것이며 멸망할 것이라

사41:12 네가 찾아도 너와 싸우던 자들을 만나지 못할 것이요 너를 치는 자들은 아무것도 아닌 것 같고 허무한 것 같이 되리니

사41:13 이는 나 여호와 너의 하나님이 네 오른손을 붙들고 네게 이르기를 두려워하지 말라 내가 너를 도우리라 할 것임이니라

사41:14 버러지 같은 너 야곱아, 너희 이스라엘 사람들아 두려워하지 말라 나 여호와가 말하노니 내가 너를 도울 것이라 네 구속자는 이스라엘의 거룩한 이이니라

사41:15 보라 내가 너로 이가 날카로운 새 타작기로 삼으리니 네가 산들을 쳐서 부스러기를 만들 것이며 작은 산들을 겨 같이 만들 것이라

사41:16 네가 그들을 까부른즉 바람이 그들을 날리겠고 회리바람이 그들을 흩어 버릴 것이로되 너는 여호와로 말미암아 즐거워하겠고 이스라엘의 거룩한 자로 말미암아 자랑하리라

사41:17 가련하고 가난한 자가 물을 구하되 물이 없어서 갈증으로 그들의 혀가 마를 때에 나 여호와가 그들에게 응답하겠고 나 이스라엘의 하나님이 그들을 버리지 아니할 것이라

사41:18 내가 헐벗은 산에 강을 내며 골짜기 가운데 샘이 나게 하며 광야가 못이 되게 하며 마른 땅이 샘 근원이 되게 할 것이며

사41:19 내가 광야에는 백향목과 싯딤 나무와 화석류와 들감람나무를 심고 사막에는 잣나무와 소나무와 황양목을 함께 두리니

사41:20 무리가 보고 여호와의 손이 지은 바요 이스라엘의 거룩한 이가 이것을 창조하신 바인 줄 알며 함께 헤아리며 깨달으리라

사41:21 나 여호와가 말하노니 너희 우상들은 소송하라 야곱의 왕이 말하노니 너희는 확실한 증거를 보이라

사41:22 장차 당할 일을 우리에게 진술하라 또 이전 일이 어떠한 것도 알게 하라 우리가 마음에 두고 그 결말을 알아보리라 혹 앞으로 올 일을 듣게 하며

사41:23 뒤에 올 일을 알게 하라 그리하면 너희가 신들인 줄 우리가 알리라 또 복을 내리든지 재난을 내리든지 하라 우리가 함께 보고 놀라리라

사41:24 보라 너희는 아무것도 아니며 너희 일은 허망하며 너희를 택한 자는 가증하니라

사41:25 내가 한 사람을 일으켜 북방에서 오게 하며 내 이름을 부르는 자를 해 돋는 곳에서 오게 하였나니 그가 이르러 고관들을 석회 같이, 토기장이가 진흙을 밟음 같이 하리니

사41:26 누가 처음부터 이 일을 알게 하여 우리가 알았느냐 누가 이전부터 알게하여 우리가 옳다고 말하게 하였느냐 알게 하는 자도 없고 드려주는 자도 없고 너희 말을 듣는 자도 없도다

사41:27 내가 비로소 시온에게 너희는 이제 그들을 보라 하였노라 내가 기쁜 소식을 전할 자를 예루살렘에 주리라

사41:28 내가 본즉 한 사람도 없으며 내가 물어도 그들 가운데 한 말도 대답할 조언자가 없도다

사41:29 보라 그들은 다 헛되며 그들의 행사는 허무하며 그들이 부어 만든 우상들은 바람이요 공허한 것뿐이니라

요한계시록 11 장.

계11:1 또 내게 지팡이 같은 갈대를 주며 말하기를 일어나서 하나님의 성전과 제단과 그 안에서 경배하는 자들을 측량하되

계11:2 성전 바깥 마당은 측량하지 말고 그냥 두라 이것은 이방인에게 주었은즉 그들이 거룩한 성을 마흔 두 달 동안 짓밟으리라

계11:3 내가 나의 두 증인에게 권세를 주리니 그들이 굵은 베옷을 입고 천이백육십 일을 예언하리라

계11:4 그들은 이 땅의 주 앞에 서 있는 감람나무와 두 촛대니

계11:5 만일 누구든지 그들을 해하고자 하면 그들의 입에서 불이 나와서 그들의 원수를 삼켜 버릴 것이요 누구든지 그들을 해하고자 하면 반드시 그와 같이 죽임을 당하리라

계11:6 그들이 권능을 가지고 하늘을 닫아 그 예언을 하는 날 동안 비가 오지 못하게 하고 또 권능을 가지고 물을 피로 변하게 하고 아무 때든지 원하는 대로 여러 가지 재앙으로 땅을 치리로다

계11:7 그들이 그 증언을 마칠 때에 무저갱으로부터 올라오는 짐승이 그들과 더불어 전쟁을 일으켜 그들을 이기고 그들을 죽일 터인즉

계11:8 그들의 시체가 큰 성 길에 있으리니 그 성은 영적으로 하면 소돔이라고도 하고 애굽이라고도 하니 곧 그들의 주께서 십자가에 못 박히신 곳이라

계11:9 백성들과 족속과 방언과 나라 중에서 사람들이 그 시체를 사흘 반 동안을 보며 무덤에 장사하지 못하게 하리로다

계11:10 이 두 선지자가 땅에 사는 자들을 괴롭게 한 고로 땅에 사는 자들이 그들의 죽음을 즐거워하고 기뻐하여 서로 예물을 보내리라 하더라

계11:11 삼 일 반 후에 하나님께로부터 생기가 그들 속에 들어가매 그들이 발로 일어서니 구경하는 자들이 크게 두려워하더라

계11:12 하늘로부터 큰 음성이 있어 이리로 올라오라 함을 그들이 듣고 구름을 타고 하늘로 올라가니 그들의 원수들도 구경하더라

계11:13 그 때에 큰 지진이 나서 성 십분의 일이 무너지고 지진에 죽은 사람이 칠천이라 그 남은 자들이 두려워하여 영광을 하늘의 하나님께 돌리더라

계11:14 둘째 화는 지나갔으나 보라 셋째 화가 속히 이르는도다

계11:15 일곱째 천사가 나팔을 불매 하늘에 큰 음성들이 나서 이르되 세상 나라가 우리 주와 그의 그리스도의 나라가 되어 그가 세세토록 왕 노릇 하시리로다 하니

계11:16 하나님 앞에서 자기 보좌에 앉아있던 이십사 장로가 엎드려 얼굴을 땅에 대고 하나님께 경배하여

계11:17 이르되 감사하옵나니 옛적에도 계셨고 지금도 계신 주 하나님 곧 전능하신 이여 친히 큰 권능을 잡으시고 왕 노릇 하시도다

계11:18 이방들이 분노하매 주의 진노가 내려 죽은 자를 심판하시며 종 선지자들과 성도들과 또 작은 자든지 큰 자든지 주의 이름을 경외하는 자들에게 상 주시며 또 땅을 망하게 하는 자들을 멸망시키실 때로소이다 하더라

계11:19 이에 하늘에 있는 하나님의 성전이 열리니 성전 안에 하나님의 언약궤가 보이며 또 번개와 음성들과 우레와 지진과 큰 우박이 있더라

Deuteronomy 13.

13:1 If a prophet, or one who foretells by dreams, appears among you and announces to you a miraculous sign or wonder,

13:2 and if the sign or wonder of which he has spoken takes place, and he says, "Let us follow other gods" (gods you have not known) "and let us worship them,"

13:3 you must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer. The LORD your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul.

13:4 It is the LORD your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him.

13:5 That prophet or dreamer must be put to death, because he preached rebellion against the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt and redeemed you from the land of slavery; he has tried to turn you from the way the LORD your God commanded you to follow. You must purge the evil from among you.

13:6 If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you love, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying, "Let us go and worship other gods" (gods that neither you nor your fathers have known,

13:7 gods of the peoples around you, whether near or far, from one end of the land to the other),

13:8 do not yield to him or listen to him. Show him no pity. Do not spare him or shield him.

13:9 You must certainly put him to death. Your hand must be the first in putting him to death, and then the hands of all the people.

13:10 Stone him to death, because he tried to turn you away from the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

13:11 Then all Israel will hear and be afraid, and no one among you will do such an evil thing again.

13:12 If you hear it said about one of the towns the LORD your God is giving you to live in

13:13 that wicked men have arisen among you and have led the people of their town astray, saying, "Let us go and worship other gods" (gods you have not known),

13:14 then you must inquire, probe and investigate it thoroughly. And if it is true and it has been proved that this detestable thing has been done among you,

13:15 you must certainly put to the sword all who live in that town. Destroy it completely, both its people and its livestock.

13:16 Gather all the plunder of the town into the middle of the public square and completely burn the town and all its plunder as a whole burnt offering to the LORD your God. It is to remain a ruin forever, never to be rebuilt.

13:17 None of those condemned things shall be found in your hands, so that the LORD will turn from his fierce anger; he will show you mercy, have compassion on you, and increase your numbers, as he promised on oath to your forefathers,

13:18 because you obey the LORD your God, keeping all his commands that I am giving you today and doing what is right in his eyes.

Deuteronomy 14.

14:1 You are the children of the LORD your God. Do not cut yourselves or shave the front of your heads for the dead,

14:2 for you are a people holy to the LORD your God. Out of all the peoples on the face of the earth, the LORD has chosen you to be his treasured possession.

14:3 Do not eat any detestable thing.

14:4 These are the animals you may eat: the ox, the sheep, the goat,

14:5 the deer, the gazelle, the roe deer, the wild goat, the ibex, the antelope and the mountain sheep.

14:6 You may eat any animal that has a split hoof divided in two and that chews the cud.

14:7 However, of those that chew the cud or that have a split hoof completely divided you may not eat the camel, the rabbit or the coney. Although they chew the cud, they do not have a split hoof; they are ceremonially unclean for you.

14:8 The pig is also unclean; although it has a split hoof, it does not chew the cud. You are not to eat their meat or touch their carcasses.

14:9 Of all the creatures living in the water, you may eat any that has fins and scales.

14:10 But anything that does not have fins and scales you may not eat; for you it is unclean.

14:11 You may eat any clean bird.

14:12 But these you may not eat: the eagle, the vulture, the black vulture,

14:13 the red kite, the black kite, any kind of falcon,

14:14 any kind of raven,

14:15 the horned owl, the screech owl, the gull, any kind of hawk,

14:16 the little owl, the great owl, the white owl,

14:17 the desert owl, the osprey, the cormorant,

14:18 the stork, any kind of heron, the hoopoe and the bat.

14:19 All flying insects that swarm are unclean to you; do not eat them.

14:20 But any winged creature that is clean you may eat.

14:21 Do not eat anything you find already dead. You may give it to an alien living in any of your towns, and he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner. But you are a people holy to the LORD your God. Do not cook a young goat in its mother's milk.

14:22 Be sure to set aside a tenth of all that your fields produce each year.

14:23 Eat the tithe of your grain, new wine and oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks in the presence of the LORD your God at the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name, so that you may learn to revere the LORD your God always.

14:24 But if that place is too distant and you have been blessed by the LORD your God and cannot carry your tithe (because the place where the LORD will choose to put his Name is so far away),

14:25 then exchange your tithe for silver, and take the silver with you and go to the place the LORD your God will choose.

14:26 Use the silver to buy whatever you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink, or anything you wish. Then you and your household shall eat there in the presence of the LORD your God and rejoice.

14:27 And do not neglect the Levites living in your towns, for they have no allotment or inheritance of their own.

14:28 At the end of every three years, bring all the tithes of that year's produce and store it in your towns,

14:29 so that the Levites (who have no allotment or inheritance of their own) and the aliens, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns may come and eat and be satisfied, and so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.

Psalms 99.

99:1 The LORD reigns, let the nations tremble; he sits enthroned between the cherubim, let the earth shake.

99:2 Great is the LORD in Zion; he is exalted over all the nations.

99:3 Let them praise your great and awesome name--he is holy.

99:4 The King is mighty, he loves justice--you have established equity; in Jacob you have done what is just and right.

99:5 Exalt the LORD our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy.

99:6 Moses and Aaron were among his priests, Samuel was among those who called on his name; they called on the LORD and he answered them.

99:7 He spoke to them from the pillar of cloud; they kept his statutes and the decrees he gave them.

99:8 O LORD our God, you answered them; you were to Israel a forgiving God, though you punished their misdeeds.

99:9 Exalt the LORD our God and worship at his holy mountain, for the LORD our God is holy.

Psalms 100.

100:1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.

100:2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.

100:3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

100:4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.

100:5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

Psalms 101.

101:1 I will sing of your love and justice; to you, O LORD, I will sing praise.

101:2 I will be careful to lead a blameless life--when will you come to me? I will walk in my house with blameless heart.

101:3 I will set before my eyes no vile thing. The deeds of faithless men I hate; they will not cling to me.

101:4 Men of perverse heart shall be far from me; I will have nothing to do with evil.

101:5 Whoever slanders his neighbor in secret, him will I put to silence; whoever has haughty eyes and a proud heart, him will I not endure.

101:6 My eyes will be on the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with me; he whose walk is blameless will minister to me.

101:7 No one who practices deceit will dwell in my house; no one who speaks falsely will stand in my presence.

101:8 Every morning I will put to silence all the wicked in the land; I will cut off every evildoer from the city of the LORD.

Isaiah 41.

41:1 "Be silent before me, you islands! Let the nations renew their strength! Let them come forward and speak; let us meet together at the place of judgment.

41:2 "Who has stirred up one from the east, calling him in righteousness to his service? He hands nations over to him and subdues kings before him. He turns them to dust with his sword, to windblown chaff with his bow.

41:3 He pursues them and moves on unscathed, by a path his feet have not traveled before.

41:4 Who has done this and carried it through, calling forth the generations from the beginning? I, the LORD--with the first of them and with the last--I am he."

41:5 The islands have seen it and fear; the ends of the earth tremble. They approach and come forward;

41:6 each helps the other and says to his brother, "Be strong!"

41:7 The craftsman encourages the goldsmith, and he who smooths with the hammer spurs on him who strikes the anvil. He says of the welding, "It is good." He nails down the idol so it will not topple.

41:8 "But you, O Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham my friend,

41:9 I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, 'You are my servant'; I have chosen you and have not rejected you.

41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

41:11 "All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish.

41:12 Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all.

41:13 For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.

41:14 Do not be afraid, O worm Jacob, O little Israel, for I myself will help you," declares the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

41:15 "See, I will make you into a threshing sledge, new and sharp, with many teeth. You will thresh the mountains and crush them, and reduce the hills to chaff.

41:16 You will winnow them, the wind will pick them up, and a gale will blow them away. But you will rejoice in the LORD and glory in the Holy One of Israel.

41:17 "The poor and needy search for water, but there is none; their tongues are parched with thirst. But I the LORD will answer them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.

41:18 I will make rivers flow on barren heights, and springs within the valleys. I will turn the desert into pools of water, and the parched ground into springs.

41:19 I will put in the desert the cedar and the acacia, the myrtle and the olive. I will set pines in the wasteland, the fir and the cypress together,

41:20 so that people may see and know, may consider and understand, that the hand of the LORD has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it.

41:21 "Present your case," says the LORD. "Set forth your arguments," says Jacob's King.

41:22 "Bring in your idols to tell us what is going to happen. Tell us what the former things were, so that we may consider them and know their final outcome. Or declare to us the things to come,

41:23 tell us what the future holds, so we may know that you are gods. Do something, whether good or bad, so that we will be dismayed and filled with fear.

41:24 But you are less than nothing and your works are utterly worthless; he who chooses you is detestable.

41:25 "I have stirred up one from the north, and he comes--one from the rising sun who calls on my name. He treads on rulers as if they were mortar, as if he were a potter treading the clay.

41:26 Who told of this from the beginning, so we could know, or beforehand, so we could say, 'He was right'? No one told of this, no one foretold it, no one heard any words from you.

41:27 I was the first to tell Zion, 'Look, here they are!' I gave to Jerusalem a messenger of good tidings.

41:28 I look but there is no one--no one among them to give counsel, no one to give answer when I ask them.

41:29 See, they are all false! Their deeds amount to nothing; their images are but wind and confusion.

Revelation 11.

11:1 I was given a reed like a measuring rod and was told, "Go and measure the temple of God and the altar, and count the worshipers there.

11:2 But exclude the outer court; do not measure it, because it has been given to the Gentiles. They will trample on the holy city for 42 months.

11:3 And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth."

11:4 These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth.

11:5 If anyone tries to harm them, fire comes from their mouths and devours their enemies. This is how anyone who wants to harm them must die.

11:6 These men have power to shut up the sky so that it will not rain during the time they are prophesying; and they have power to turn the waters into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they want.

11:7 Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the Abyss will attack them, and overpower and kill them.

11:8 Their bodies will lie in the street of the great city, which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified.

11:9 For three and a half days men from every people, tribe, language and nation will gaze on their bodies and refuse them burial.

11:10 The inhabitants of the earth will gloat over them and will celebrate by sending each other gifts, because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth.

11:11 But after the three and a half days a breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and terror struck those who saw them.

11:12 Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, "Come up here." And they went up to heaven in a cloud, while their enemies looked on.

11:13 At that very hour there was a severe earthquake and a tenth of the city collapsed. Seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the survivors were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.

11:14 The second woe has passed; the third woe is coming soon.

11:15 The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: "The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign for ever and ever."

11:16 And the twenty-four elders, who were seated on their thrones before God, fell on their faces and worshiped God,

11:17 saying: "We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, the One who is and who was, because you have taken your great power and have begun to reign.

11:18 The nations were angry; and your wrath has come. The time has come for judging the dead, and for rewarding your servants the prophets and your saints and those who reverence your name, both small and great--and for destroying those who destroy the earth."

11:19 Then God's temple in heaven was opened, and within his temple was seen the ark of his covenant. And there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake and a great hailstorm.
