사무엘하 13 장.

삼하13:1 그 후에 이 일이 있으니라 다윗의 아들 압살롬에게 아름다운 누이가 있으니 이름은 다말이라 다윗의 다른 아들 암논이 그를 사랑하나

삼하13:2 그는 처녀이므로 어찌할 수 없는 줄을 알고 암논이 그의 누이 다말 때문에 울화로 말미암아 병이 되니라

삼하13:3 암논에게 요나답이라 하는 친구가 있으니 그는 다윗의 형 시므아의 아들이요 심히 간교한 자라

삼하13:4 그가 암논에게 이르되 왕자여 당신은 어찌하여 나날이 이렇게 파리하여 가느냐 내게 말해 주지 아니하겠느냐 하니 암논이 말하되 내가 아우 압살롬의 누이 다말을 사랑함이니라 하니라

삼하13:5 요나답이 그에게 이르되 침상에 누워 병든 체하다가 네 아버지가 너를 보러 오거든 너는 그에게 말하기를 원하건대 내 누이 다말이 와서 내게 떡을 먹이되 내가 보는 데에서 떡을 차려 그의 손으로 먹여 주게 하옵소서 하라 하니

삼하13:6 암논이 곧 누워 병든 체하다가 왕이 와서 그를 볼 때에 암논이 왕께 아뢰되 원하건대 내 누이 다말이 와서 내가 보는 데에서 과자 두어 개를 만들어 그의 손으로 내게 먹여 주게 하옵소서 하니

삼하13:7 다윗이 사람을 그의 집으로 보내 다말에게 이르되 이제 네 오라버니 암논의 집으로 가서 그를 위하여 음식을 차리라 한지라

삼하13:8 다말이 그 오라버니 암논의 집에 이르매 그가 누웠더라 다말이 밀가루를 가지고 반죽하여 그가 보는 데서 과자를 만들고 그 과자를 굽고

삼하13:9 그 냄비를 가져다가 그 앞에 쏟아 놓아도 암논이 먹기를 거절하고 암논이 이르되 모든 사람을 내게서 나가게 하라 하니 다 그를 떠나 나가니라

삼하13:10 암논이 다말에게 이르되 음식물을 가지고 침실로 들어오라 내가 네 손에서 먹으리라 하니 다말이 자기가 만든 과자를 가지고 침실에 들어가 그의 오라버니 암논에게 이르러

삼하13:11 그에게 먹이려고 가까이 가지고 갈 때에 암논이 그를 붙잡고 그에게 이르되 나의 누이야 와서 나와 동침하자 하는지라

삼하13:12 그가 그에게 대답하되 아니라 내 오라버니여 나를 욕되게 하지 말라 이런 일은 이스라엘에서 마땅히 행하지 못할 것이니 이 어리석은 일을 행하지 말라

삼하13:13 내가 이 수치를 지니고 어디로 가겠느냐 너도 이스라엘에서 어리석은 자 중의 하나가 되리라 이제 청하건대 왕께 말하라 그가 나를 네게 주기를 거절하지 아니하시리라 하되

삼하13:14 암논이 그 말을 듣지 아니하고 다말보다 힘이 세므로 억지로 그와 동침하니라

삼하13:15 그리하고 암논이 그를 심히 미워하니 이제 미워하는 미움이 전에 사랑하던 사랑보다 더한지라 암논이 그에게 이르되 일어나 가라 하니

삼하13:16 다말이 그에게 이르되 옳지 아니하다 나를 쫓아보내는 이 큰 악은 아까 내게 행한 그 악보다 더하다 하되 암논이 그를 듣지 아니하고

삼하13:17 그가 부리는 종을 불러 이르되 이 계집을 내게서 이제 내보내고 곧 문빗장을 지르라 하니

삼하13:18 암논의 하인이 그를 끌어내고 곧 문빗장을 지르니라 다말이 채색 옷을 입었으니 출가하지 아니한 공주는 이런 옷으로 단장하는 법이라

삼하13:19 다말이 재를 자기의 머리에 덮어 쓰고 그의 채색옷을 찢고 손을 머리 위에 얹고 가서 크게 울부짖으니라

삼하13:20 그의 오라버니 압살롬이 그에게 이르되 네 오라버니 암논이 너와 함께 있었느냐 그러나 그는 네 오라버니이니 누이야 지금은 잠잠히 있고 이것으로 말미암아 근심하지 말라 하니라 이에 다말이 그의 오라버니 압살롬의 집에 있어 처량하게 지내니라

삼하13:21 다윗 왕이 이 모든 일을 듣고 심히 노하니라

삼하13:22 압살롬은 암논이 그의 누이 다말을 욕되게 하였으므로 그를 미워하여 암논에 대하여 잘잘못을 압살롬이 말하지 아니하니라

삼하13:23 만 이 년 후에 에브라임 곁 바알하솔에서 압살롬이 양 털을 깎는 일이 있으매 압살롬이 왕의 모든 아들을 청하고

삼하13:24 압살롬이 왕께 나아가 말하되 이제 종에게 양 털 깎는 일이 있사오니 청하건대 왕은 신하들을 데리시고 당신의 종과 함께 가사이다 하니

삼하13:25 왕이 압살롬에게 이르되 아니라 내 아들아 이제 우리가 다 갈 것 없다 네게 누를 끼칠까 하노라 하니라 압살롬이 그에게 간청하였으나 그가 가지 아니하고 그에게 복을 비는지라

삼하13:26 압살롬이 이르되 그렇게 하지 아니하시려거든 청하건대 내 형 암논이 우리와 함께 가게 하옵소서 왕이 그에게 이르되 그가 너와 함께 갈 것이 무엇이냐 하되

삼하13:27 압살롬이 간청하매 왕이 암논과 왕의 모든 아들을 그와 함께 그에게 보내니라

삼하13:28 압살롬이 이미 그의 종들에게 명령하여 이르기를 너희는 이제 암논의 마음이 술로 즐거워할 때를 자세히 보다가 내가 너희에게 암논을 치라 하거든 그를 죽이라 두려워하지 말라 내가 너희에게 명령한 것이 아니냐 너희는 담대히 용기를 내라 한지라

삼하13:29 압살롬의 종들이 압살롬의 명령대로 암논에게 행하매 왕의 모든 아들들이 일어나 각기 노새를 타고 도망하니라

삼하13:30 그들이 길에 있을 때에 압살롬이 왕의 모든 아들들을 죽이고 하나도 남기지 아니하였다는 소문이 다윗에게 이르매

삼하13:31 왕이 곧 일어나서 자기의 옷을 찢고 땅에 드러눕고 그의 신하들도 다 옷을 찢고 모셔 선지라

삼하13:32 다윗의 형 시므아의 아들 요나답이 아뢰어 이르되 내 주여 젊은 왕자들이 다 죽임을 당한 줄로 생각하지 마옵소서 오직 암논만 죽었으리이다 그가 압살롬의 누이 다말을 욕되게 한 날부터 압살롬이 결심한 것이니이다

삼하13:33 그러하온즉 내 주 왕이여 왕자들이 다 죽은 줄로 생각하여 상심하지 마옵소서 오직 암논만 죽었으리이다 하니라

삼하13:34 이에 압살롬은 도망하니라 파수하는 청년이 눈을 들어 보니 보아라 뒷산 언덕길로 여러 사람이 오는도다

삼하13:35 요나답이 왕께 아뢰되 보소서 왕자들이 오나이다 당신의 종이 말한 대로 되었나이다 하고

삼하13:36 말을 마치자 왕자들이 이르러 소리를 높여 통곡하니 왕과 그의 모든 신하들도 심히 통곡하니라

삼하13:37 압살롬은 도망하여 그술 왕 암미훌의 아들 달매에게로 갔고 다윗은 날마다 그의 아들로 말미암아 슬퍼하니라

삼하13:38 압살롬이 도망하여 그술로 가서 거기에 산 지 삼 년이라

삼하13:39 다윗 왕의 마음이 압살롬을 향하여 간절하니 암논은 이미 죽었으므로 왕이 위로를 받았음이더라

고린도후서 6 장.

고후6:1 우리가 하나님과 함께 일하는 자로서 너희를 권하노니 하나님의 은혜를 헛되이 받지 말라

고후6:2 이르시되 내가 은혜 베풀 때에 너에게 듣고 구원의 날에 너를 도왔다 하셨으니 보라 지금은 은혜 받을 만한 때요 보라 지금은 구원의 날이로다

고후6:3 우리가 이 직분이 비방을 받지 않게 하려고 무엇에든지 아무에게도 거리끼지 않게 하고

고후6:4 오직 모든 일에 하나님의 일꾼으로 자천하여 많이 견디는 것과 환난과 궁핍과 고난과

고후6:5 매 맞음과 갇힘과 난동과 수고로움과 자지 못함과 먹지 못함 가운데서도

고후6:6 깨끗함과 지식과 오래 참음과 자비함과 성령의 감화와 거짓이 없는 사랑과

고후6:7 진리의 말씀과 하나님의 능력으로 의의 무기를 좌우에 가지고

고후6:8 영광과 욕됨으로 그러했으며 악한 이름과 아름다운 이름으로 그러했느니라 우리는 속이는 자 같으나 참되고

고후6:9 무명한 자 같으나 유명한 자요 죽는 자 같으나 보라 우리가 살아 있고 징계를 받는 자 같으나 죽임을 당하지 아니하고

고후6:10 근심하는 자 같으나 항상 기뻐하고 가난한 자 같으나 많은 사람을 부요하게 하고 아무 것도 없는 자 같으나 모든 것을 가진 자로다

고후6:11 고린도인들이여 너희를 향하여 우리의 입이 열리고 우리의 마음이 넓어졌으니

고후6:12 너희가 우리 안에서 좁아진 것이 아니라 오직 너희 심정에서 좁아진 것이니라

고후6:13 내가 자녀에게 말하듯 하노니 보답하는 것으로 너희도 마음을 넓히라

고후6:14 너희는 믿지 않는 자와 멍에를 함께 메지 말라 의와 불법이 어찌 함께 하며 빛과 어둠이 어찌 사귀며

고후6:15 그리스도와 벨리알이 어찌 조화되며 믿는 자와 믿지 않는 자가 어찌 상관하며

고후6:16 하나님의 성전과 우상이 어찌 일치가 되리요 우리는 살아 계신 하나님의 성전이라 이와 같이 하나님께서 이르시되 내가 그들 가운데 거하며 두루 행하여 나는 그들의 하나님이 되고 그들은 나의 백성이 되리라 하셨느니라

고후6:17 그러므로 너희는 그들 중에서 나와서 따로 있고 부정한 것을 만지지 말라 내가 너희를 영접하여

고후6:18 너희에게 아버지가 되고 너희는 내게 자녀가 되리라 전능하신 주의 말씀이니라 하셨느니라

에스겔 20 장.

겔20:1 일곱째 해 다섯째 달 열째 날에 이스라엘 장로 여러 사람이 여호와께 물으려고 와서 내 앞에 앉으니

겔20:2 여호와의 말씀이 내게 임하여 이르시되

겔20:3 인자야 이스라엘 장로들에게 말하여 이르라 주 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨느니라 너희가 내게 물으려고 왔느냐 내가 나의 목숨을 걸고 맹세하거니와 너희가 내게 묻기를 내가 용납하지 아니하리라 주 여호와의 말씀이니라

겔20:4 인자야 네가 그들을 심판하려느냐 네가 그들을 심판하려느냐 너는 그들에게 그들의 조상들의 가증한 일을 알게 하여

겔20:5 이르라 주 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하셨느니라 옛날에 내가 이스라엘을 택하고 야곱 집의 후예를 향하여 내 손을 들어 맹세하고 애굽 땅에서 그들에게 나타나 맹세하여 이르기를 나는 여호와 너희 하나님이라 하였노라

겔20:6 그 날에 내가 내 손을 들어 그들에게 맹세하기를 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 내어 그들을 위하여 찾아 두었던 땅 곧 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅이요 모든 땅 중의 아름다운 곳에 이르게 하리라 하고

겔20:7 또 그들에게 이르기를 너희는 눈을 끄는 바 가증한 것을 각기 버리고 애굽의 우상들로 말미암아 스스로 더럽히지 말라 나는 여호와 너희 하나님이니라 하였으나

겔20:8 그들이 내게 반역하여 내 말을 즐겨 듣지 아니하고 그들의 눈을 끄는 바 가증한 것을 각기 버리지 아니하며 애굽의 우상들을 떠나지 아니하므로 내가 말하기를 내가 애굽 땅에서 그들에게 나의 분노를 쏟으며 그들에게 진노를 이루리라 하였노라

겔20:9 그러나 내가 그들이 거주하는 이방인의 눈 앞에서 그들에게 나타나 그들을 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 내었나니 이는 내 이름을 위함이라 내 이름을 그 이방인의 눈 앞에서 더럽히지 아니하려고 행하였음이라

겔20:10 그러므로 내가 그들을 애굽 땅에서 나와서 광야에 이르게 하고

겔20:11 사람이 준행하면 그로 말미암아 삶을 얻을 내 율례를 주며 내 규례를 알게 하였고

겔20:12 또 내가 그들을 거룩하게 하는 여호와인 줄 알게 하려고 내 안식일을 주어 그들과 나 사이에 표징을 삼았노라

겔20:13 그러나 이스라엘 족속이 광야에서 내게 반역하여 사람이 준행하면 그로 말미암아 삶을 얻을 나의 율례를 준행하지 아니하며 나의 규례를 멸시하였고 나의 안식일을 크게 더럽혔으므로 내가 이르기를 내가 내 분노를 광야에서 그들에게 쏟아 멸하리라 하였으나

겔20:14 내가 내 이름을 위하여 달리 행하였었나니 내가 그들을 인도하여 내는 것을 본 나라들 앞에서 내 이름을 더럽히지 아니하려 하였음이로라

겔20:15 또 내가 내 손을 들어 광야에서 그들에게 맹세하기를 내가 그들에게 허락한 땅 곧 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅이요 모든 땅 중의 아름다운 곳으로 그들을 인도하여 들이지 아니하리라 한 것은

겔20:16 그들이 마음으로 우상을 따라 나의 규례를 업신여기며 나의 율례를 행하지 아니하며 나의 안식일을 더럽혔음이라

겔20:17 그러나 내가 그들을 아껴서 광야에서 멸하여 아주 없이하지 아니하였었노라

겔20:18 내가 광야에서 그들의 자손에게 이르기를 너희 조상들의 율례를 따르지 말며 그 규례를 지키지 말며 그 우상들로 말미암아 스스로 더럽히지 말라

겔20:19 나는 여호와 너희 하나님이라 너희는 나의 율례를 따르며 나의 규례를 지켜 행하고

겔20:20 또 나의 안식일을 거룩하게 할 지어다 이것이 나와 너희 사이에 표징이 되어 내가 여호와 너희 하나님인 줄을 너희가 알게 하리라 하였노라

겔20:21 그러나 그들의 자손이 내게 반역하여 사람이 지켜 행하면 그로 말미암아 삶을 얻을 나의 율례를 따르지 아니하며 나의 규례를 지켜 행하지 아니하였고 나의 안식일을 더럽힌지라 이에 내가 이르기를 내가 광야에서 그들에게 내 분노를 쏟으며 그들에게 내 진노를 이루리라 하였으나

겔20:22 내가 내 이름을 위하여 내 손을 막아 달리 행하였나니 내가 그들을 인도하여 내는 것을 본 여러 나라 앞에서 내 이름을 더럽히지 아니하려 하였음이로라

겔20:23 또 내가 내 손을 들어 광야에서 그들에게 맹세하기를 내가 그들을 이방인 중에 흩으며 여러 민족 가운데에 헤치리라 하였나니

겔20:24 이는 그들이 나의 규례를 행하지 아니하며 나의 율례를 멸시하며 내 안식일을 더럽히고 눈으로 그들의 조상들의 우상들을 사모함이며

겔20:25 또 내가 그들에게 선하지 못한 율례와 능히 지키지 못할 규례를 주었고

겔20:26 그들이 장자를 다 화제로 드리는 그 예물로 내가 그들을 더럽혔음은 그들을 멸망하게 하여 나를 여호와인 줄 알게 하려 하였음이라

겔20:27 그런즉 인자야 이스라엘 족속에게 말하여 이르라 주 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하셨느니라 너희 조상들이 또 내게 범죄하여 나를 욕되게 하였느니라

겔20:28 내가 내 손을 들어 그들에게 주기로 맹세한 땅으로 그들을 인도하여 들였더니 그들이 모든 높은 산과 모든 무성한 나무를 보고 거기에서 제사를 드리고 분노하게 하는 제물을 올리며 거기서 또 분향하고 전제물을 부어 드린지라

겔20:29 이에 내가 그들에게 이르기를 너희가 다니는 산당이 무엇이냐 하였노라 (그것을 오늘날까지 바마라 일컫느니라)

겔20:30 그러므로 너는 이스라엘 족속에게 이르라 주 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하셨느니라 너희가 조상들의 풍속을 따라 너희 자신을 더럽히며 그 모든 가증한 것을 따라 행음하느냐

겔20:31 너희가 또 너희 아들을 화제로 삼아 불 가운데로 지나게 하며 오늘까지 너희 자신을 우상들로 말미암아 더럽히느냐 이스라엘 족속아 너희가 내게 묻기를 내가 용납하겠느냐 주 여호와의 말씀이니라 내가 나의 삶을 두고 맹세하노니 너희가 내게 묻기를 내가 용납하지 아니하리라

겔20:32 너희가 스스로 이르기를 우리가 이방인 곧 여러 나라 족속 같이 되어서 목석을 경배하리라 하거니와 너희 마음에 품은 것을 결코 이루지 못하리라

겔20:33 주 여호와의 말씀이니라 내가 나의 삶을 두고 맹세하노니 내가 능한 손과 편 팔로 분노를 쏟아 너희를 반드시 다스릴지라

겔20:34 능한 손과 편 팔로 분노를 쏟아 너희를 여러 나라에서 나오게 하며 너희의 흩어진 여러 지방에서 모아내고

겔20:35 너희를 인도하여 여러 나라 광야에 이르러 거기에서 너희를 대면하여 심판하되

겔20:36 내가 애굽 땅 광야에서 너희 조상들을 심판한 것 같이 너희를 심판하리라 주 여호와의 말씀이니라

겔20:37 내가 너희를 막대기 아래로 지나가게 하며 언약의 줄로 매려니와

겔20:38 너희 가운데에서 반역하는 자와 내게 범죄하는 자를 모두 제하여 버릴지라 그들을 그 머물러 살던 땅에서는 나오게 하여도 이스라엘 땅에는 들어가지 못하게 하리니 너희가 나는 여호와인 줄을 알리라

겔20:39 주 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하셨느니라 이스라엘 족속아 너희가 내 말을 듣지 아니하려거든 가서 각각 그 우상을 섬기라 그렇게 하려거든 이 후에 다시는 너희 예물과 너희 우상들로 내 거룩한 이름을 더럽히지 말지니라

겔20:40 주 여호와의 말씀이니라 이스라엘 온 족속이 그 땅에 있어서 내 거룩한 산 곧 이스라엘의 높은 산에서 다 나를 섬기리니 거기에서 내가 그들을 기쁘게 받을지라 거기에서 너희 예물과 너희가 드리는 첫 열매와 너희 모든 성물을 요구하리라

겔20:41 내가 너희를 인도하여 여러 나라 가운데에서 나오게 하고 너희가 흩어진 여러 민족 가운데에서 모아 낼 때에 내가 너희를 향기로 받고 내가 또 너희로 말미암아 내 거룩함을 여러 나라의 목전에서 나타낼 것이며

겔20:42 내가 내 손을 들어 너희 조상들에게 주기로 맹세한 땅 곧 이스라엘 땅으로 너희를 인도하여 들일 때에 너희는 내가 여호와인 줄 알고

겔20:43 거기에서 너희의 길과 스스로 더럽힌 모든 행위를 기억하고 이미 행한 모든 악으로 말미암아 스스로 미워하리라

겔20:44 이스라엘 족속아 내가 너희의 악한 길과 더러운 행위대로 하지 아니하고 내 이름을 위하여 행한 후에야 내가 여호와인 줄 너희가 알리라 주 여호와의 말씀이니라

겔20:45 여호와의 말씀이 또 내게 임하여 이르시되

겔20:46 인자야 너는 얼굴을 남으로 향하라 남으로 향하여 소리내어 남쪽의 숲을 쳐서 예언하라

겔20:47 남쪽의 숲에게 이르기를 여호와의 말씀을 들을지어다 주 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하셨느니라 내가 너의 가운데에 불을 일으켜 모든 푸른 나무와 모든 마른 나무를 없애리니 맹렬한 불꽃이 꺼지지 아니하고 남에서 북까지 모든 얼굴이 그슬릴지라

겔20:48 혈기 있는 모든 자는 나 여호와가 그 불을 일으킨 줄을 알리니 그것이 꺼지지 아니하리라 하셨다 하라 하시기로

겔20:49 내가 이르되 아하 주 여호와여 그들이 나를 가리켜 말하기를 그는 비유로 말하는 자가 아니냐 하나이다 하니라

시편 66 장.

시66:1 온 땅이여 하나님께 즐거운 소리를 낼지어다

시66:2 그의 이름의 영광을 찬양하고 영화롭게 찬송할지어다

시66:3 하나님께 아뢰기를 주의 일이 어찌 그리 엄위하신지요 주의 큰 권능으로 말미암아 주의 원수가 주께 복종할 것이며

시66:4 온 땅이 주께 경배하고 주를 노래하며 주의 이름을 노래하리이다 할지어다 (셀라)

시66:5 와서 하나님께서 행하신 것을 보라 사람의 아들들에게 행하심이 엄위하시도다

시66:6 하나님이 바다를 변하여 육지가 되게 하셨으므로 무리가 걸어서 강을 건너고 우리가 거기서 주로 말미암아 기뻐하였도다

시66:7 그가 그의 능력으로 영원히 다스리시며 그의 눈으로 나라들을 살피시나니 거역하는 자들은 교만하지 말지어다 (셀라)

시66:8 만민들아 우리 하나님을 송축하며 그의 찬양 소리를 들리게 할지어다

시66:9 그는 우리 영혼을 살려 두시고 우리의 실족함을 허락하지 아니하시는 주시로다

시66:10 하나님이여 주께서 우리를 시험하시되 우리를 단련하시기를 은을 단련함 같이 하셨으며

시66:11 우리를 끌어 그물에 걸리게 하시며 어려운 짐을 우리 허리에 매어 두셨으며

시66:12 사람들이 우리 머리를 타고 가게 하셨나이다 우리가 불과 물을 통과하였더니 주께서 우리를 끌어 내사 풍부한 곳에 들이셨나이다

시66:13 내가 번제물을 가지고 주의 집에 들어가서 나의 서원을 주께 갚으리니

시66:14 이는 내 입술이 낸 것이요 내 환난 때에 내 입이 말한 것이니이다

시66:15 내가 숫양의 향기와 함께 살진 것으로 주께 번제를 드리며 수소와 염소를 드리리이다 (셀라)

시66:16 하나님을 두려워하는 너희들아 다 와서 들으라 하나님이 나의 영혼을 위하여 행하신 일을 내가 선포하리로다

시66:17 내가 나의 입으로 그에게 부르짖으며 나의 혀로 높이 찬송하였도다

시66:18 내가 나의 마음에 죄악을 품었더라면 주께서 듣지 아니하시리라

시66:19 그러나 하나님이 실로 들으셨음이여 내 기도 소리에 귀를 기울이셨도다

시66:20 하나님을 찬송하리로다 그가 내 기도를 물리치지 아니하시고 그의 인자하심을 내게서 거두지도 아니하였도다

시편 67 장.

시67:1 하나님은 우리에게 은혜를 베푸사 복을 주시고 그의 얼굴 빛을 우리에게 비추사 (셀라)

시67:2 주의 도를 땅 위에, 주의 구원을 모든 나라에게 알리소서

시67:3 하나님이여 민족들이 주를 찬송하게 하시며 모든 민족들이 주를 찬송하게 하소서

시67:4 온 백성은 기쁘고 즐겁게 노래할지니 주는 민족들을 공평히 심판하시며 땅 위의 나라들을 다스리실 것임이니이다 (셀라)

시67:5 하나님이여 민족들이 주를 찬송하게 하시며 모든 민족으로 주를 찬송하게 하소서

시67:6 땅이 그의 소산을 내어 주었으니 하나님 곧 우리 하나님이 우리에게 복을 주시리로다

2 Samuel 13.

13:1 In the course of time, Amnon son of David fell in love with Tamar, the beautiful sister of Absalom son of David.

13:2 Amnon became frustrated to the point of illness on account of his sister Tamar, for she was a virgin, and it seemed impossible for him to do anything to her.

13:3 Now Amnon had a friend named Jonadab son of Shimeah, David's brother. Jonadab was a very shrewd man.

13:4 He asked Amnon, "Why do you, the king's son, look so haggard morning after morning? Won't you tell me?" Amnon said to him, "I'm in love with Tamar, my brother Absalom's sister."

13:5 "Go to bed and pretend to be ill," Jonadab said. "When your father comes to see you, say to him, 'I would like my sister Tamar to come and give me something to eat. Let her prepare the food in my sight so I may watch her and then eat it from her hand.'"

13:6 So Amnon lay down and pretended to be ill. When the king came to see him, Amnon said to him, "I would like my sister Tamar to come and make some special bread in my sight, so I may eat from her hand."

13:7 David sent word to Tamar at the palace: "Go to the house of your brother Amnon and prepare some food for him."

13:8 So Tamar went to the house of her brother Amnon, who was lying down. She took some dough, kneaded it, made the bread in his sight and baked it.

13:9 Then she took the pan and served him the bread, but he refused to eat. "Send everyone out of here," Amnon said. So everyone left him.

13:10 Then Amnon said to Tamar, "Bring the food here into my bedroom so I may eat from your hand." And Tamar took the bread she had prepared and brought it to her brother Amnon in his bedroom.

13:11 But when she took it to him to eat, he grabbed her and said, "Come to bed with me, my sister."

13:12 "Don't, my brother!" she said to him. "Don't force me. Such a thing should not be done in Israel! Don't do this wicked thing.

13:13 What about me? Where could I get rid of my disgrace? And what about you? You would be like one of the wicked fools in Israel. Please speak to the king; he will not keep me from being married to you."

13:14 But he refused to listen to her, and since he was stronger than she, he raped her.

13:15 Then Amnon hated her with intense hatred. In fact, he hated her more than he had loved her. Amnon said to her, "Get up and get out!"

13:16 "No!" she said to him. "Sending me away would be a greater wrong than what you have already done to me." But he refused to listen to her.

13:17 He called his personal servant and said, "Get this woman out of here and bolt the door after her."

13:18 So his servant put her out and bolted the door after her. She was wearing a richly ornamented robe, for this was the kind of garment the virgin daughters of the king wore.

13:19 Tamar put ashes on her head and tore the ornamented robe she was wearing. She put her hand on her head and went away, weeping aloud as she went.

13:20 Her brother Absalom said to her, "Has that Amnon, your brother, been with you? Be quiet now, my sister; he is your brother. Don't take this thing to heart." And Tamar lived in her brother Absalom's house, a desolate woman.

13:21 When King David heard all this, he was furious.

13:22 Absalom never said a word to Amnon, either good or bad; he hated Amnon because he had disgraced his sister Tamar.

13:23 Two years later, when Absalom's sheepshearers were at Baal Hazor near the border of Ephraim, he invited all the king's sons to come there.

13:24 Absalom went to the king and said, "Your servant has had shearers come. Will the king and his officials please join me?"

13:25 "No, my son," the king replied. "All of us should not go; we would only be a burden to you." Although Absalom urged him, he still refused to go, but gave him his blessing.

13:26 Then Absalom said, "If not, please let my brother Amnon come with us." The king asked him, "Why should he go with you?"

13:27 But Absalom urged him, so he sent with him Amnon and the rest of the king's sons.

13:28 Absalom ordered his men, "Listen! When Amnon is in high spirits from drinking wine and I say to you, 'Strike Amnon down,' then kill him. Don't be afraid. Have not I given you this order? Be strong and brave."

13:29 So Absalom's men did to Amnon what Absalom had ordered. Then all the king's sons got up, mounted their mules and fled.

13:30 While they were on their way, the report came to David: "Absalom has struck down all the king's sons; not one of them is left."

13:31 The king stood up, tore his clothes and lay down on the ground; and all his servants stood by with their clothes torn.

13:32 But Jonadab son of Shimeah, David's brother, said, "My lord should not think that they killed all the princes; only Amnon is dead. This has been Absalom's expressed intention ever since the day Amnon raped his sister Tamar.

13:33 My lord the king should not be concerned about the report that all the king's sons are dead. Only Amnon is dead."

13:34 Meanwhile, Absalom had fled. Now the man standing watch looked up and saw many people on the road west of him, coming down the side of the hill. The watchman went and told the king, "I see men in the direction of Horonaim, on the side of the hill."

13:35 Jonadab said to the king, "See, the king's sons are here; it has happened just as your servant said."

13:36 As he finished speaking, the king's sons came in, wailing loudly. The king, too, and all his servants wept very bitterly.

13:37 Absalom fled and went to Talmai son of Ammihud, the king of Geshur. But King David mourned for his son every day.

13:38 After Absalom fled and went to Geshur, he stayed there three years.

13:39 And the spirit of the king longed to go to Absalom, for he was consoled concerning Amnon's death.

2 Corinthians 6.

6:1 As God's fellow workers we urge you not to receive God's grace in vain.

6:2 For he says, "In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you." I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation.

6:3 We put no stumbling block in anyone's path, so that our ministry will not be discredited.

6:4 Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses;

6:5 in beatings, imprisonments and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights and hunger;

6:6 in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love;

6:7 in truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left;

6:8 through glory and dishonor, bad report and good report; genuine, yet regarded as impostors;

6:9 known, yet regarded as unknown; dying, and yet we live on; beaten, and yet not killed;

6:10 sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.

6:11 We have spoken freely to you, Corinthians, and opened wide our hearts to you.

6:12 We are not withholding our affection from you, but you are withholding yours from us.

6:13 As a fair exchange--I speak as to my children--open wide your hearts also.

6:14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?

6:15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?

6:16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people."

6:17 "Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you."

6:18 "I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty."

Ezekiel 20.

20:1 In the seventh year, in the fifth month on the tenth day, some of the elders of Israel came to inquire of the LORD, and they sat down in front of me.

20:2 Then the word of the LORD came to me:

20:3 "Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel and say to them, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Have you come to inquire of me? As surely as I live, I will not let you inquire of me, declares the Sovereign LORD.'

20:4 "Will you judge them? Will you judge them, son of man? Then confront them with the detestable practices of their fathers

20:5 and say to them: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: On the day I chose Israel, I swore with uplifted hand to the descendants of the house of Jacob and revealed myself to them in Egypt. With uplifted hand I said to them, "I am the LORD your God."

20:6 On that day I swore to them that I would bring them out of Egypt into a land I had searched out for them, a land flowing with milk and honey, the most beautiful of all lands.

20:7 And I said to them, "Each of you, get rid of the vile images you have set your eyes on, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt. I am the LORD your God."

20:8 "'But they rebelled against me and would not listen to me; they did not get rid of the vile images they had set their eyes on, nor did they forsake the idols of Egypt. So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and spend my anger against them in Egypt.

20:9 But for the sake of my name I did what would keep it from being profaned in the eyes of the nations they lived among and in whose sight I had revealed myself to the Israelites by bringing them out of Egypt.

20:10 Therefore I led them out of Egypt and brought them into the desert.

20:11 I gave them my decrees and made known to them my laws, for the man who obeys them will live by them.

20:12 Also I gave them my Sabbaths as a sign between us, so they would know that I the LORD made them holy.

20:13 "'Yet the people of Israel rebelled against me in the desert. They did not follow my decrees but rejected my laws--although the man who obeys them will live by them--and they utterly desecrated my Sabbaths. So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and destroy them in the desert.

20:14 But for the sake of my name I did what would keep it from being profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought them out.

20:15 Also with uplifted hand I swore to them in the desert that I would not bring them into the land I had given them--a land flowing with milk and honey, most beautiful of all lands--

20:16 because they rejected my laws and did not follow my decrees and desecrated my Sabbaths. For their hearts were devoted to their idols.

20:17 Yet I looked on them with pity and did not destroy them or put an end to them in the desert.

20:18 I said to their children in the desert, "Do not follow the statutes of your fathers or keep their laws or defile yourselves with their idols.

20:19 I am the LORD your God; follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.

20:20 Keep my Sabbaths holy, that they may be a sign between us. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God."

20:21 "'But the children rebelled against me: They did not follow my decrees, they were not careful to keep my laws--although the man who obeys them will live by them--and they desecrated my Sabbaths. So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and spend my anger against them in the desert.

20:22 But I withheld my hand, and for the sake of my name I did what would keep it from being profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought them out.

20:23 Also with uplifted hand I swore to them in the desert that I would disperse them among the nations and scatter them through the countries,

20:24 because they had not obeyed my laws but had rejected my decrees and desecrated my Sabbaths, and their eyes lusted after their fathers' idols.

20:25 I also gave them over to statutes that were not good and laws they could not live by;

20:26 I let them become defiled through their gifts--the sacrifice of every firstborn--that I might fill them with horror so they would know that I am the LORD.'

20:27 "Therefore, son of man, speak to the people of Israel and say to them, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: In this also your fathers blasphemed me by forsaking me:

20:28 When I brought them into the land I had sworn to give them and they saw any high hill or any leafy tree, there they offered their sacrifices, made offerings that provoked me to anger, presented their fragrant incense and poured out their drink offerings.

20:29 Then I said to them: What is this high place you go to?'" (It is called Bamah to this day.)

20:30 "Therefore say to the house of Israel: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Will you defile yourselves the way your fathers did and lust after their vile images?

20:31 When you offer your gifts--the sacrifice of your sons in the fire--you continue to defile yourselves with all your idols to this day. Am I to let you inquire of me, O house of Israel? As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I will not let you inquire of me.

20:32 "'You say, "We want to be like the nations, like the peoples of the world, who serve wood and stone." But what you have in mind will never happen.

20:33 As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I will rule over you with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm and with outpoured wrath.

20:34 I will bring you from the nations and gather you from the countries where you have been scattered--with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm and with outpoured wrath.

20:35 I will bring you into the desert of the nations and there, face to face, I will execute judgment upon you.

20:36 As I judged your fathers in the desert of the land of Egypt, so I will judge you, declares the Sovereign LORD.

20:37 I will take note of you as you pass under my rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant.

20:38 I will purge you of those who revolt and rebel against me. Although I will bring them out of the land where they are living, yet they will not enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the LORD.

20:39 "'As for you, O house of Israel, this is what the Sovereign LORD says: Go and serve your idols, every one of you! But afterward you will surely listen to me and no longer profane my holy name with your gifts and idols.

20:40 For on my holy mountain, the high mountain of Israel, declares the Sovereign LORD, there in the land the entire house of Israel will serve me, and there I will accept them. There I will require your offerings and your choice gifts, along with all your holy sacrifices.

20:41 I will accept you as fragrant incense when I bring you out from the nations and gather you from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will show myself holy among you in the sight of the nations.

20:42 Then you will know that I am the LORD, when I bring you into the land of Israel, the land I had sworn with uplifted hand to give to your fathers.

20:43 There you will remember your conduct and all the actions by which you have defiled yourselves, and you will loathe yourselves for all the evil you have done.

20:44 You will know that I am the LORD, when I deal with you for my name's sake and not according to your evil ways and your corrupt practices, O house of Israel, declares the Sovereign LORD.'"

20:45 The word of the LORD came to me:

20:46 "Son of man, set your face toward the south; preach against the south and prophesy against the forest of the southland.

20:47 Say to the southern forest: 'Hear the word of the LORD. This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am about to set fire to you, and it will consume all your trees, both green and dry. The blazing flame will not be quenched, and every face from south to north will be scorched by it.

20:48 Everyone will see that I the LORD have kindled it; it will not be quenched.'"

20:49 Then I said, "Ah, Sovereign LORD! They are saying of me, 'Isn't he just telling parables?'" EZE

Psalms 66.

66:1 Shout with joy to God, all the earth!

66:2 Sing the glory of his name; make his praise glorious!

66:3 Say to God, "How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies cringe before you.

66:4 All the earth bows down to you; they sing praise to you, they sing praise to your name." Selah

66:5 Come and see what God has done, how awesome his works in man's behalf!

66:6 He turned the sea into dry land, they passed through the waters on foot--come, let us rejoice in him.

66:7 He rules forever by his power, his eyes watch the nations--let not the rebellious rise up against him. Selah

66:8 Praise our God, O peoples, let the sound of his praise be heard;

66:9 he has preserved our lives and kept our feet from slipping.

66:10 For you, O God, tested us; you refined us like silver.

66:11 You brought us into prison and laid burdens on our backs.

66:12 You let men ride over our heads; we went through fire and water, but you brought us to a place of abundance.

66:13 I will come to your temple with burnt offerings and fulfill my vows to you--

66:14 vows my lips promised and my mouth spoke when I was in trouble.

66:15 I will sacrifice fat animals to you and an offering of rams; I will offer bulls and goats. Selah

66:16 Come and listen, all you who fear God; let me tell you what he has done for me.

66:17 I cried out to him with my mouth; his praise was on my tongue.

66:18 If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened;

66:19 but God has surely listened and heard my voice in prayer.

66:20 Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!

Psalms 67.

67:1 May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine upon us, Selah

67:2 that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.

67:3 May the peoples praise you, O God; may all the peoples praise you.

67:4 May the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you rule the peoples justly and guide the nations of the earth. Selah

67:5 May the peoples praise you, O God; may all the peoples praise you.

67:6 Then the land will yield its harvest, and God, our God, will bless us.

67:7 God will bless us, and all the ends of the earth will fear him.
