여호수아 14 장.

수14:1 이것은 이스라엘 자손이 가나안 땅에서 받은 기업 곧 제사장 엘르아살과 눈의 아들 여호수아와 이스라엘 자손 지파의 족장들이 분배한 것이니라

수14:2 여호와께서 모세에게 명령하신 대로 그들의 기업을 제비 뽑아 아홉 지파와 반 지파에게 주었으니

수14:3 이는 두 지파와 반 지파의 기업은 모세가 요단 저쪽에서 주었음이요 레위 자손에게는 그들 가운데에서 기업을 주지 아니하였으니

수14:4 이는 요셉의 자손이 므낫세와 에브라임의 두 지파가 되었음이라 이 땅에서 레위 사람에게 아무 분깃도 주지 아니하고 다만 거주할 성읍들과 가축과 재산을 위한 목초지만 주었으니

수14:5 이스라엘 자손이 여호와께서 모세에게 명령하신 것과 같이 행하여 그 땅을 나누었더라

수14:6 그 때에 유다 자손이 길갈에 있는 여호수아에게 나아오고 그니스 사람 여분네의 아들 갈렙이 여호수아에게 말하되 여호와께서 가데스 바네아에서 나와 당신에게 대하여 하나님의 사람 모세에게 이르신 일을 당신이 아시는 바라

수14:7 내 나이 사십 세에 여호와의 종 모세가 가데스 바네아에서 나를 보내어 이 땅을 정탐하게 하였으므로 내가 성실한 마음으로 그에게 보고하였고

수14:8 나와 함께 올라갔던 내 형제들은 백성의 간담을 녹게 하였으나 나는 내 하나님 여호와께 충성하였으므로

수14:9 그 날에 모세가 맹세하여 이르되 네가 내 하나님 여호와께 충성하였은즉 네 발로 밟는 땅은 영원히 너와 네 자손의 기업이 되리라 하였나이다

수14:10 이제 보소서 여호와께서 이 말씀을 모세에게 이르신 때로부터 이스라엘이 광야에서 방황한 이 사십오 년 동안을 여호와께서 말씀하신 대로 나를 생존하게 하셨나이다 오늘 내가 팔십오 세로되

수14:11 모세가 나를 보내던 날과 같이 오늘도 내가 여전히 강건하니 내 힘이 그 때나 지금이나 같아서 싸움에나 출입에 감당할 수 있으니

수14:12 그 날에 여호와께서 말씀하신 이 산지를 지금 내게 주소서 당신도 그 날에 들으셨거니와 그 곳에는 아낙 사람이 있고 그 성읍들은 크고 견고할지라도 여호와께서 나와 함께 하시면 내가 여호와께서 말씀하신 대로 그들을 쫓아내리이다 하니

수14:13 여호수아가 여분네의 아들 갈렙을 위하여 축복하고 헤브론을 그에게 주어 기업을 삼게 하매

수14:14 헤브론이 그니스 사람 여분네의 아들 갈렙의 기업이 되어 오늘까지 이르렀으니 이는 그가 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께 충성하였음이라

수14:15 헤브론의 옛 이름은 기럇 아르바라 아르바는 아낙 사람 가운데에서 가장 큰 사람이었더라 그리고 그 땅에 전쟁이 그쳤더라

여호수아 15 장.

수15:1 또 유다 자손의 지파가 그들의 가족대로 제비 뽑은 땅의 남쪽으로 에돔 경계에 이르고 또 남쪽 끝은 신 광야까지라

수15:2 또 그들의 남쪽 경계는 염해의 끝 곧 남향한 해만에서부터

수15:3 아그랍빔 비탈 남쪽으로 지나 신에 이르고 가데스 바네아 남쪽으로 올라가서 헤스론을 지나며 아달로 올라가서 돌이켜 갈가에 이르고

수15:4 거기서 아스몬에 이르러 애굽 시내로 나아가 바다에 이르러 경계의 끝이 되나니 이것이 너희 남쪽 경계가 되니라

수15:5 그 동쪽 경계는 염해이니 요단 끝까지요 그 북쪽 경계는 요단 끝에 있는 해만에서부터

수15:6 벧 호글라로 올라가서 벧 아라바 북쪽을 지나 르우벤 자손 보한의 돌에 이르고

수15:7 또 아골 골짜기에서부터 드빌을 지나 북쪽으로 올라가서 그 강 남쪽에 있는 아둠밈 비탈 맞은편 길갈을 향하고 나아가 엔 세메스 물들을 지나 엔로겔에 이르며

수15:8 또 힌놈의 아들의 골짜기로 올라가서 여부스 곧 예루살렘 남쪽 어깨에 이르며 또 힌놈의 골짜기 앞 서쪽에 있는 산꼭대기로 올라가나니 이곳은 르바임 골짜기 북쪽 끝이며

수15:9 또 이 산꼭대기에서부터 넵도아 샘물까지 이르러 에브론 산 성읍들로 나아가고 또 바알라 곧 기럇 여아림으로 접어들며

수15:10 또 바알라에서부터 서쪽으로 돌이켜 세일 산에 이르러 여아림 산 곧 그살론 곁 북쪽에 이르고 또 벧 세메스로 내려가서 딤나를 지나고

수15:11 또 에그론 비탈 북쪽으로 나아가 식그론으로 접어들어 바알라 산을 지나고 얍느엘에 이르나니 그 끝은 바다며

수15:12 서쪽 경계는 대해와 그 해안이니 유다 자손이 그들의 가족대로 받은 사방 경계가 이러하니라

수15:13 여호와께서 여호수아에게 명령하신 대로 여호수아가 기럇 아르바 곧 헤브론을 유다 자손 중에서 분깃으로 여분네의 아들 갈렙에게 주었으니 아르바는 아낙의 아버지였더라

수15:14 갈렙이 거기서 아낙의 소생 그 세 아들 곧 세새와 아히만과 달매를 쫓아내었고

수15:15 거기서 올라가서 드빌 주민을 쳤는데 드빌의 본 이름은 기럇 세벨이라

수15:16 갈렙이 말하기를 기럇 세벨을 쳐서 그것을 점령하는 자에게는 내가 내 딸 악사를 아내로 주리라 하였더니

수15:17 갈렙의 아우요 그나스의 아들인 옷니엘이 그것을 점령함으로 갈렙이 자기 딸 악사를 그에게 아내로 주었더라

수15:18 악사가 출가할 때에 그에게 청하여 자기 아버지에게 밭을 구하자 하고 나귀에서 내리매 갈렙이 그에게 묻되 네가 무엇을 원하느냐 하니

수15:19 이르되 내게 복을 주소서 아버지께서 나를 네겝 땅으로 보내시오니 샘물도 내게 주소서 하매 갈렙이 윗샘과 아랫샘을 그에게 주었더라

수15:20 유다 자손의 지파가 그들의 가족대로 받은 기업은 이러하니라

수15:21 유다 자손의 지파의 남쪽 끝 에돔 경계에 접근한 성읍들은 갑스엘과 에델과 야굴과

수15:22 기나와 디모나와 아다다와

수15:23 게데스와 하솔과 잇난과

수15:24 십과 델렘과 브알롯과

수15:25 하솔 하닷다와 그리욧 헤스몬 곧 하솔과

수15:26 아맘과 세마와 몰라다와

수15:27 하살갓다와 헤스몬과 벧 벨렛과

수15:28 하살 수알과 브엘 세바와 비스요다와

수15:29 바알라와 이임과 에셈과

수15:30 엘돌랏과 그실과 홀마와

수15:31 시글락과 맛만나와 산산나와 르바옷과

수15:32 실힘과 아인과 림몬이니 모두 스물아홉 성읍과 그 마을들이었으며

수15:33 평지에는 에스다올과 소라와 아스나와

수15:34 사노아와 엔간님과 답부아와 에남과

수15:35 야르문과 아둘람과 소고와 아세가와

수15:36 사아라임과 아디다임과 그데라와 그데로다임이니 열네 성읍과 그 마을들이었으며

수15:37 스난과 하다사와 믹달갓과

수15:38 딜르안과 미스베와 욕드엘과

수15:39 라기스와 보스갓과 에글론과

수15:40 갑본과 라맘과 기들리스와

수15:41 그데롯과 벧다곤과 나아마와 막게다이니 열여섯 성읍과 그 마을들이었으며

수15:42 립나와 에델과 아산과

수15:43 입다와 아스나와 느십과

수15:44 그일라와 악십과 마레사니 아홉 성읍과 그 마을들이었으며

수15:45 에그론과 그 촌락들과 그 마을들과

수15:46 에그론에서부터 바다까지 아스돗 곁에 있는 모든 성읍과 그 마을들이었으며

수15:47 아스돗과 그 촌락들과 그 마을들과 가사와 그 촌락들과 그 마을들이니 애굽 시내와 대해의 경계에까지 이르렀으며

수15:48 산지는 사밀과 얏딜과 소고와

수15:49 단나와 기럇 산나 곧 드빌과

수15:50 아납과 에스드모와 아님과

수15:51 고센과 홀론과 길로이니 열한 성읍과 그 마을들이었으며

수15:52 아랍과 두마와 에산과

수15:53 야님과 벧 답부아와 아베가와

수15:54 훔다와 기럇 아르바 곧 헤브론과 시올이니 아홉 성읍과 그 마을들이었으며

수15:55 마온과 갈멜과 십과 윳다와

수15:56 이스르엘과 욕드암과 사노아와

수15:57 가인과 기브아와 딤나니 열 성읍과 그 마을들이었으며

수15:58 할훌과 벧 술과 그돌과

수15:59 마아랏과 벧 아놋과 엘드곤이니 쪽을 지나고 여섯 성읍과 그 마을들이었으며

수15:60 기럇 바알 곧 기럇 여아림과 랍바이니 두 성읍과 그 마을들이었으며

수15:61 광야에는 벧 아라바와 밋딘과 스가가와

수15:62 닙산과 소금 성읍과 엔 게디니 여섯 성읍과 그 마을들이었더라

수15:63 예루살렘 주민 여부스 족속을 유다 자손이 쫓아내지 못하였으므로 여부스 족속이 오늘까지 유다 자손과 함께 예루살렘에 거주하니라

시편 146 장.

시146:1 할렐루야 내 영혼아 여호와를 찬양하라

시146:2 나의 생전에 여호와를 찬양하며 나의 평생에 내 하나님을 찬송하리로다

시146:3 귀인들을 의지하지 말며 도울 힘이 없는 인생도 의지하지 말지니

시146:4 그의 호흡이 끊어지면 흙으로 돌아가서 그 날에 그이 생각이 소멸하리로다

시146:5 야곱의 하나님을 자기의 도움으로 삼으며 여호와 자기 하나님에게 자기의 소망을 두는 자는 복이 있도다

시146:6 여호와는 천지와 바다와 그 중의 만물을 지으시며 영원히 진실함을 지키시며

시146:7 억눌린 사람들을 위해 정의로 심판하시며 주린 자들에게 먹을 것을 주시는 이시로다 여호와께서는 갇힌 자들에게 자유를 주시는도다

시146:8 여호와께서 맹인들의 눈을 여시며 여호와께서 비굴한 자들을 일으키시며 여호와께서 의인들을 사랑하시며

시146:9 여호와께서 나그네들을 보호하시며 고아와 과부를 붙드시고 악인들의 길은 굽게 하시는도다

시146:10 시온아 여호와는 영원히 다스리시고 네 하나님은 대대로 통치하시리로다 할렐루야

시편 147 장.

시147:1 할렐루야 우리 하나님을 찬양하는 일이 선함이여 찬송하는 일이 아름답고 마땅하도다

시147:2 여호와께서 예루살렘을 세우시며 이스라엘의 흩어진 자들을 모으시며

시147:3 상심한 자들을 고치시며 그들의 상처를 싸매시는도다

시147:4 그가 별들의 수효를 세시고 그것들을 다 이름대로 부르시는도다

시147:5 우리 주는 위대하시며 능력이 많으시며 그의 지혜가 무궁하시도다

시147:6 여호와께서 겸손한 자들은 붙드시고 악인들은 땅에 엎드러뜨리시는도다

시147:7 감사함으로 여호와께 노래하며 수금으로 하나님께 찬양할지어다

시147:8 그가 구름으로 하늘을 덮으시며 땅을 위하여 비를 준비하시며 산에 풀이 자라게 하시며

시147:9 들짐승과 우는 까마귀 새끼에게 먹을 것을 주시는도다

시147:10 여호와는 말의 힘이 세다 하여 기뻐하지 아니하시며 사람의 다리가 억세다 하여 기뻐하지 아니하시고

시147:11 여호와는 자기를 경외하는 자들과 그의 인자하심을 바라는 자들을 기뻐하시는도다

시147:12 예루살렘아 여호와를 찬송할지어다 시온아 네 하나님을 찬양할지어다

시147:13 그가 네 문빗장을 견고히 하시고 네 가운데에 있는 너의 자녀들에게 복을 주셨으며

시147:14 네 경내를 평안하게 하시고 아름다운 밀로 너를 배불리시며

시147:15 그의 명령을 땅에 보내시니 그의 말씀이 속히 달리는도다

시147:16 눈을 양털 같이 내리시며 서리를 재 같이 흩으시며

시147:17 우박을 떡 부스러기 같이 뿌리시나니 누가 능히 그의 추위를 감당하리요

시147:18 그의 말씀을 보내사 그것들을 녹이시고 바람을 불게 하신즉 물이 흐르는도다

시147:19 그가 그의 말씀을 야곱에게 보이시며 그의 율례와 규례를 이스라엘에게 보이시는도다

시147:20 그는 어느 민족에게도 이와 같이 행하지 아니하셨나니 그들은 그의 법도를 알지 못하였도다 할렐루야

예레미야 7 장.

렘7:1 여호와께로부터 예레미야에게 말씀이 임하니라 이르시되

렘7:2 너는 여호와의 집 문에 서서 이 말을 선포하여 이르기를 여호와께 예배하러 이 문으로 들어가는 유다 사람들아 여호와의 말씀을 들으라

렘7:3 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이와 같이 말씀하시되 너희 길과 행위를 바르게 하라 그리하면 내가 너희로 이 곳에 살게 하리라

렘7:4 너희는 이것이 여호와의 성전이라, 여호와의 성전이라, 여호와의 성전이라 하는 거짓말을 믿지 말라

렘7:5 너희가 만일 길과 행위를 참으로 바르게 하여 이웃들 사이에 정의를 행하며

렘7:6 이방인과 고아와 과부를 압제하지 아니하며 무죄한 자의 피를 이 곳에서 흘리지 아니하며 다른 신들 뒤를 따라 화를 자초하지 아니하면

렘7:7 내가 너희를 이 곳에 살게 하리니 곧 너희 조상에게 영원무궁토록 준 땅에니라

렘7:8 보라 너희가 무익한 거짓말을 의존하는도다

렘7:9 너희가 도둑질하며 살인하며 간음하며 거짓 맹세하며 바알에게 분향하며 너희가 알지 못하는 다른 신들을 따르면서

렘7:10 내 이름으로 일컬음을 받는 이 집에 들어와서 내 앞에 서서 말하기를 우리가 구원을 얻었나이다 하느냐 이는 이 모든 가증한 일을 행하려 함이로다

렘7:11 내 이름으로 일컬음을 받는 이 집이 너희 눈에는 도둑의 소굴로 보이느냐 보라 나 곧 내가 그것을 보았노라 여호와의 말씀이니라

렘7:12 너희는 내가 처음으로 내 이름을 둔 처소 실로에 가서 내 백성 이스라엘의 악에 대하여 내가 어떻게 행하였는지를 보라

렘7:13 여호와의 말씀이니라 이제 너희가 그 모든 일을 행하였으며 내가 너희에게 말하되 새벽부터 부지런히 말하여도 듣지 아니하였고 너희를 불러도 대답하지 아니하였느니라

렘7:14 그러므로 내가 실로에 행함 같이 너희가 신뢰하는 바 내 이름으로 일컬음을 받는 이 집 곧 너희와 너희 조상들에게 준 이 곳에 행하겠고

렘7:15 내가 너희 모든 형제 곧 에브라임 온 자손을 쫓아낸 것 같이 내 앞에서 너희를 쫓아내리라 하셨다 할지니라

렘7:16 그런즉 너는 이 백성을 위하여 기도하지 말라 그들을 위하여 부르짖어 구하지 말라 내게 간구하지 말라 내가 네게서 듣지 아니하리라

렘7:17 너는 그들이 유다 성읍들과 예루살렘 거리에서 행하는 일을 보지 못하느냐

렘7:18 자식들은 나무를 줍고 아버지들은 불을 피우며 부녀들은 가루를 반죽하여 하늘의 여왕을 위하여 과자를 만들며 그들이 또 다른 신들에게 전제를 부음으로 나의 노를 일으키느니라

렘7:19 여호와의 말씀이니라 그들이 나를 격노하게 함이냐 자기 얼굴에 부끄러움을 자취함이 아니냐

렘7:20 그러므로 주 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 보라 나의 진노와 분노를 이 곳과 사람과 짐승과 들나무와 땅의 소산에 부으리니 불 같이 살라지고 꺼지지 아니하리라 하시니라

렘7:21 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이와 같이 말씀하시되 너희 희생제물과 번제물의 고기를 아울러 먹으라

렘7:22 사실은 내가 너희 조상들을 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 낸 날에 번제나 희생에 대하여 말하지 아니하며 명령하지 아니하고

렘7:23 오직 내가 이것을 그들에게 명령하여 이르기를 너희는 내 목소리를 들으라 그리하면 나는 너희 하나님이 되겠고 너희는 내 백성이 되리라 너희는 내가 명령한 모든 길로 걸어가라 그리하면 복을 받으리라 하였으나

렘7:24 그들이 순종하지 아니하며 귀를 기울이지도 아니하고 자신들의 악한 마음의 죄와 완악한 대로 행하여 그 등을 내게로 돌리고 그 얼굴을 향하지 아니하였으며

렘7:25 너희 조상들이 애굽 땅에서 나온 날부터 오늘까지 내가 내 종 선지자들을 너희에게 보내되 끊임없이 보내었으나

렘7:26 너희가 나에게 순종하지 아니하며 귀를 기울이지 아니하고 목을 굳게 하여 너희 조상들보다 악을 더 행하였느니라

렘7:27 네가 그들에게 이 모든 말을 할지라도 그들이 너에게 순종하지 아니할 것이요 네가 그들을 불러도 그들이 네게 대답하지 아니하리니

렘7:28 너는 그들에게 말하기를 너희는 너희 하나님 여호와의 목소리를 순종하지 아니하며 교훈을 받지 아니하는 민족이라 진실이 없어져 너희 입에서 끊어졌다 할지니라

렘7:29 너의 머리털을 베어 버리고 벗은 산 위에서 통곡할지어다 여호와께서 그 노하신 바 이 세대를 끊어 버리셨음이라

렘7:30 여호와께서 말씀하시되 유다 자손이 나의 눈 앞에 악을 행하여 내 이름으로 일컬음을 받는 집에 그들의 가증한 것을 두어 집을 더럽혔으며

렘7:31 힌놈의 아들 골짜기에 도벳 사당을 건축하고 그들의 자녀들을 불에 살랐나니 내가 명령하지 아니하였고 내 마음에 생각하지도 아니한 일이니라

렘7:32 그러므로 여호와께서 말씀하시니라 날이 이르면 이 곳을 도벳이라 하거나 힌놈의 아들의 골짜기라 말하지 아니하고 죽임의 골짜기라 말하리니 이는 도벳에 자리가 없을 만큼 매장했기 때문이니라

렘7:33 이 백성의 시체가 공중의 새와 땅의 짐승의 밥이 될 것이나 그것을 쫓을 자가 없을 것이라

렘7:34 그 때에 내가 유다 성읍들과 예루살렘 거리에 기뻐하는 소리, 즐거워하는 소리, 신랑의 소리, 신부의 소리가 끊어지게 하리니 땅이 황폐하리라

마태복음 21 장.

마21:1 그들이 예루살렘에 가까이 와서 감람 산 벳바게에 이르렀을 때에 예수께서 두 제자를 보내시며

마21:2 이르시되 너희 맞은편 마을로 가라 곧 매인 나귀와 나귀 새끼가 함께 있는 것을 보리니 풀어 내게로 끌고 오라

마21:3 만일 누가 무슨 말을 하거든 주가 쓰시겠다 하라 그리하면 즉시 보내리라 하시니

마21:4 이는 선지자를 통하여 하신 말씀을 이루려 하심이라 일렀으되

마21:5 시온 딸에게 이르기를 네 왕이 네게 임하나니 그는 겸손하여 나귀, 곧 멍에 메는 짐승의 새끼를 탔도다 하라 하였느니라

마21:6 제자들이 가서 예수의 명하신대로 하여

마21:7 나귀와 나귀 새끼를 끌고 와서 자기들의 겉옷을 그 위에 얹으매 예수께서 그 위에 타시니

마21:8 무리의 대다수는 그들의 겉옷을 길에 펴고 다른 이들은 나뭇가지를 베어 길에 펴고

마21:9 앞에서 가고 뒤에서 따르는 무리가 소리 높여 이르되 호산나 다윗의 자손이여 찬송하리로다 주의 이름으로 오시는 이여 가장 높은 곳에서 호산나 하더라

마21:10 예수께서 예루살렘에 들어가시니 온 성이 소동하여 이르되 이는 누구냐 하거늘

마21:11 무리가 이르되 갈릴리 나사렛에서 나온 선지자 예수라 하니라

마21:12 예수께서 성전에 들어가사 성전 안에서 매매하는 모든 사람들을 내쫓으시며 돈 바꾸는 사람들의 상과 비둘기 파는 사람들의 의자를 둘러 엎으시고

마21:13 그들에게 이르시되 기록된 바 내 집은 기도하는 집이라 일컬음을 받으리라 하였거늘 너희는 강도의 소굴을 만드는도다 하시니라

마21:14 맹인과 저는 자들이 성전에서 예수께 나아오매 고쳐주시니

마21:15 대제사장들과 서기관들이 예수께서 하시는 이상한 일과 또 성전에서 소리 질러 호산나 다윗의 자손이여 하는 어린이들을 보고 노하여

마21:16 예수께 말하되 그들이 하는 말을 듣느냐 예수께서 이르시되 그렇다 어린 아기와 젖먹이들의 입에서 나오는 찬미를 온전하게 하셨나이다 함을 너희가 읽어 본 일이 없느냐 하시고

마21:17 그들을 떠나 성 밖으로 베다니에 가서 거기서 유하시니라

마21:18 이른 아침에 성으로 들어오실 때에 시장하신지라

마21:19 길 가에서 한 무화과(無花果)나무를 보시고 그리로 가사 잎사귀 밖에 아무 것도 찾지 못하시고 나무에게 이르시되 이제부터 영원토록 네가 열매를 맺지 못하리라 하시니 무화과나무가 곧 마른지라

마21:20 제자들이 보고 이상히 여겨 가로되 무화과나무가 어찌하여 곧 말랐나이까

마21:21 예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 만일 너희가 믿음이 있고 의심하지 아니하면 이 무화과나무에게 된 이런 일만 할 뿐 아니라 이 산더러 들려 바다에 던져지라 하여도 될 것이요

마21:22 너희가 기도할 때에 무엇이든지 믿고 구하는 것은 다 받으리라 하시니라

마21:23 예수께서 성전에 들어가 가르치실새 대제사장들과 백성의 장로들이 나아와 이르되 네가 무슨 권위로 이런 일을 하느냐 또 누가 이 권위를 주었느냐

마21:24 예수께서 대답하시되 나도 한 말을 너희에게 물으리니 너희가 대답하면 나도 무슨 권위로 이런 일을 하는지 이르리라

마21:25 요한의 세례가 어디로부터 왔느냐 하늘로부터냐 사람으로부터냐 그들이 서로 의논하여 이르되 만일 하늘로부터라 하면 어찌하여 그를 믿지 아니하였느냐 할 것이요

마21:26 만일 사람으로부터라 하면 모든 사람이 요한을 선지자로 여기니 백성이 무섭다 하여

마21:27 예수께 대답하여 이르되 우리가 알지 못하노라 하니 예수께서 이르시되 나도 무슨 권위로 이런 일을 하는지 너희에게 이르지 아니하리라

마21:28 그러나 너희 생각에는 어떠하냐 어떤 사람에게 두 아들이 있는데 맏아들에게 가서 이르되 얘 오늘 포도원에 가서 일하라 하니

마21:29 대답하여 이르되 아버지여 가겠나이다 하더니 가지 아니하고

Joshua 14.

14:1 Now these are the areas the Israelites received as an inheritance in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun and the heads of the tribal clans of Israel allotted to them.

14:2 Their inheritances were assigned by lot to the nine-and-a-half tribes, as the LORD had commanded through Moses.

14:3 Moses had granted the two-and-a-half tribes their inheritance east of the Jordan but had not granted the Levites an inheritance among the rest,

14:4 for the sons of Joseph had become two tribes--Manasseh and Ephraim. The Levites received no share of the land but only towns to live in, with pasturelands for their flocks and herds.

14:5 So the Israelites divided the land, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.

14:6 Now the men of Judah approached Joshua at Gilgal, and Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, "You know what the LORD said to Moses the man of God at Kadesh Barnea about you and me.

14:7 I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh Barnea to explore the land. And I brought him back a report according to my convictions,

14:8 but my brothers who went up with me made the hearts of the people melt with fear. I, however, followed the LORD my God wholeheartedly.

14:9 So on that day Moses swore to me, 'The land on which your feet have walked will be your inheritance and that of your children forever, because you have followed the LORD my God wholeheartedly.'

14:10 "Now then, just as the LORD promised, he has kept me alive for forty-five years since the time he said this to Moses, while Israel moved about in the desert. So here I am today, eighty-five years old!

14:11 I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out; I'm just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then.

14:12 Now give me this hill country that the LORD promised me that day. You yourself heard then that the Anakites were there and their cities were large and fortified, but, the LORD helping me, I will drive them out just as he said."

14:13 Then Joshua blessed Caleb son of Jephunneh and gave him Hebron as his inheritance.

14:14 So Hebron has belonged to Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite ever since, because he followed the LORD, the God of Israel, wholeheartedly.

14:15 (Hebron used to be called Kiriath Arba after Arba, who was the greatest man among the Anakites.) Then the land had rest from war.

Joshua 15.

15:1 The allotment for the tribe of Judah, clan by clan, extended down to the territory of Edom, to the Desert of Zin in the extreme south.

15:2 Their southern boundary started from the bay at the southern end of the Salt Sea,

15:3 crossed south of Scorpion Pass, continued on to Zin and went over to the south of Kadesh Barnea. Then it ran past Hezron up to Addar and curved around to Karka.

15:4 It then passed along to Azmon and joined the Wadi of Egypt, ending at the sea. This is their southern boundary.

15:5 The eastern boundary is the Salt Sea as far as the mouth of the Jordan. The northern boundary started from the bay of the sea at the mouth of the Jordan,

15:6 went up to Beth Hoglah and continued north of Beth Arabah to the Stone of Bohan son of Reuben.

15:7 The boundary then went up to Debir from the Valley of Achor and turned north to Gilgal, which faces the Pass of Adummim south of the gorge. It continued along to the waters of En Shemesh and came out at En Rogel.

15:8 Then it ran up the Valley of Ben Hinnom along the southern slope of the Jebusite city (that is, Jerusalem). From there it climbed to the top of the hill west of the Hinnom Valley at the northern end of the Valley of Rephaim.

15:9 From the hilltop the boundary headed toward the spring of the waters of Nephtoah, came out at the towns of Mount Ephron and went down toward Baalah (that is, Kiriath Jearim).

15:10 Then it curved westward from Baalah to Mount Seir, ran along the northern slope of Mount Jearim (that is, Kesalon), continued down to Beth Shemesh and crossed to Timnah.

15:11 It went to the northern slope of Ekron, turned toward Shikkeron, passed along to Mount Baalah and reached Jabneel. The boundary ended at the sea.

15:12 The western boundary is the coastline of the Great Sea. These are the boundaries around the people of Judah by their clans.

15:13 In accordance with the LORD'S command to him, Joshua gave to Caleb son of Jephunneh a portion in Judah--Kiriath Arba, that is, Hebron. (Arba was the forefather of Anak.)

15:14 From Hebron Caleb drove out the three Anakites--Sheshai, Ahiman and Talmai--descendants of Anak.

15:15 From there he marched against the people living in Debir (formerly called Kiriath Sepher).

15:16 And Caleb said, "I will give my daughter Acsah in marriage to the man who attacks and captures Kiriath Sepher."

15:17 Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb's brother, took it; so Caleb gave his daughter Acsah to him in marriage.

15:18 One day when she came to Othniel, she urged him to ask her father for a field. When she got off her donkey, Caleb asked her, "What can I do for you?"

15:19 She replied, "Do me a special favor. Since you have given me land in the Negev, give me also springs of water." So Caleb gave her the upper and lower springs.

15:20 This is the inheritance of the tribe of Judah, clan by clan:

15:21 The southernmost towns of the tribe of Judah in the Negev toward the boundary of Edom were: Kabzeel, Eder, Jagur,

15:22 Kinah, Dimonah, Adadah,

15:23 Kedesh, Hazor, Ithnan,

15:24 Ziph, Telem, Bealoth,

15:25 Hazor Hadattah, Kerioth Hezron (that is, Hazor),

15:26 Amam, Shema, Moladah,

15:27 Hazar Gaddah, Heshmon, Beth Pelet,

15:28 Hazar Shual, Beersheba, Biziothiah,

15:29 Baalah, Iim, Ezem,

15:30 Eltolad, Kesil, Hormah,

15:31 Ziklag, Madmannah, Sansannah,

15:32 Lebaoth, Shilhim, Ain and Rimmon--a total of twenty-nine towns and their villages.

15:33 In the western foothills: Eshtaol, Zorah, Ashnah,

15:36 Shaaraim, Adithaim and Gederah (or Gederothaim)--fourteen towns and their villages.

15:37 Zenan, Hadashah, Migdal Gad,

15:39 Lachish, Bozkath, Eglon,

15:40 Cabbon, Lahmas, Kitlish,

15:63 Judah could not dislodge the Jebusites, who were living in Jerusalem; to this day the Jebusites live there with the people of Judah.

Psalms 146.

146:1 Praise the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul.

146:2 I will praise the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.

146:3 Do not put your trust in princes, in mortal men, who cannot save.

146:4 When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing.

146:5 Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God,

146:6 the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them--the LORD, who remains faithful forever.

146:7 He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets prisoners free,

146:8 the LORD gives sight to the blind, the LORD lifts up those who are bowed down, the LORD loves the righteous.

146:9 The LORD watches over the alien and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.

146:10 The LORD reigns forever, your God, O Zion, for all generations. Praise the LORD.

Psalms 147.

147:1 Praise the LORD. How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him!

147:2 The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the exiles of Israel.

147:3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

147:4 He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.

147:5 Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.

147:6 The LORD sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground.

147:7 Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; make music to our God on the harp.

147:8 He covers the sky with clouds; he supplies the earth with rain and makes grass grow on the hills.

147:9 He provides food for the cattle and for the young ravens when they call.

147:10 His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor his delight in the legs of a man;

147:11 the LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.

147:12 Extol the LORD, O Jerusalem; praise your God, O Zion,

147:13 for he strengthens the bars of your gates and blesses your people within you.

147:14 He grants peace to your borders and satisfies you with the finest of wheat.

147:15 He sends his command to the earth; his word runs swiftly.

147:16 He spreads the snow like wool and scatters the frost like ashes.

147:17 He hurls down his hail like pebbles. Who can withstand his icy blast?

147:18 He sends his word and melts them; he stirs up his breezes, and the waters flow.

147:19 He has revealed his word to Jacob, his laws and decrees to Israel.

147:20 He has done this for no other nation; they do not know his laws. Praise the LORD.

Jeremiah 7.

7:1 This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD:

7:2 "Stand at the gate of the LORD'S house and there proclaim this message: "'Hear the word of the LORD, all you people of Judah who come through these gates to worship the LORD.

7:3 This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Reform your ways and your actions, and I will let you live in this place.

7:4 Do not trust in deceptive words and say, "This is the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD!"

7:5 If you really change your ways and your actions and deal with each other justly,

7:6 if you do not oppress the alien, the fatherless or the widow and do not shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not follow other gods to your own harm,

7:7 then I will let you live in this place, in the land I gave your forefathers for ever and ever.

7:8 But look, you are trusting in deceptive words that are worthless.

7:9 "'Will you steal and murder, commit adultery and perjury, burn incense to Baal and follow other gods you have not known,

7:10 and then come and stand before me in this house, which bears my Name, and say, "We are safe"--safe to do all these detestable things?

7:11 Has this house, which bears my Name, become a den of robbers to you? But I have been watching! declares the LORD.

7:12 "'Go now to the place in Shiloh where I first made a dwelling for my Name, and see what I did to it because of the wickedness of my people Israel.

7:13 While you were doing all these things, declares the LORD, I spoke to you again and again, but you did not listen; I called you, but you did not answer.

7:14 Therefore, what I did to Shiloh I will now do to the house that bears my Name, the temple you trust in, the place I gave to you and your fathers.

7:15 I will thrust you from my presence, just as I did all your brothers, the people of Ephraim.'

7:16 "So do not pray for this people nor offer any plea or petition for them; do not plead with me, for I will not listen to you.

7:17 Do you not see what they are doing in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?

7:18 The children gather wood, the fathers light the fire, and the women knead the dough and make cakes of bread for the Queen of Heaven. They pour out drink offerings to other gods to provoke me to anger.

7:19 But am I the one they are provoking? declares the LORD. Are they not rather harming themselves, to their own shame?

7:20 "'Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: My anger and my wrath will be poured out on this place, on man and beast, on the trees of the field and on the fruit of the ground, and it will burn and not be quenched.

7:21 "'This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Go ahead, add your burnt offerings to your other sacrifices and eat the meat yourselves!

7:22 For when I brought your forefathers out of Egypt and spoke to them, I did not just give them commands about burnt offerings and sacrifices,

7:23 but I gave them this command: Obey me, and I will be your God and you will be my people. Walk in all the ways I command you, that it may go well with you.

7:24 But they did not listen or pay attention; instead, they followed the stubborn inclinations of their evil hearts. They went backward and not forward.

7:25 From the time your forefathers left Egypt until now, day after day, again and again I sent you my servants the prophets.

7:26 But they did not listen to me or pay attention. They were stiff-necked and did more evil than their forefathers.'

7:27 "When you tell them all this, they will not listen to you; when you call to them, they will not answer.

7:28 Therefore say to them, 'This is the nation that has not obeyed the LORD its God or responded to correction. Truth has perished; it has vanished from their lips.

7:29 Cut off your hair and throw it away; take up a lament on the barren heights, for the LORD has rejected and abandoned this generation that is under his wrath.

7:30 "'The people of Judah have done evil in my eyes, declares the LORD. They have set up their detestable idols in the house that bears my Name and have defiled it.

7:31 They have built the high places of Topheth in the Valley of Ben Hinnom to burn their sons and daughters in the fire--something I did not command, nor did it enter my mind.

7:32 So beware, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when people will no longer call it Topheth or the Valley of Ben Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter, for they will bury the dead in Topheth until there is no more room.

7:33 Then the carcasses of this people will become food for the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and there will be no one to frighten them away.

7:34 I will bring an end to the sounds of joy and gladness and to the voices of bride and bridegroom in the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem, for the land will become desolate.

Matthew 21.

21:1 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples,

21:2 saying to them, "Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me.

21:3 If anyone says anything to you, tell him that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away."

21:4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:

21:5 "Say to the Daughter of Zion, 'See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.'"

21:6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them.

21:7 They brought the donkey and the colt, placed their cloaks on them, and Jesus sat on them.

21:8 A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.

21:9 The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, "Hosanna to the Son of David!" "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Hosanna in the highest!"

21:10 When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, "Who is this?"

21:11 The crowds answered, "This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee."

21:12 Jesus entered the temple area and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves.

21:13 "It is written," he said to them, "'My house will be called a house of prayer,' but you are making it a 'den of robbers.'"

21:14 The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them.

21:15 But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple area, "Hosanna to the Son of David," they were indignant.

21:16 "Do you hear what these children are saying?" they asked him. "Yes," replied Jesus, "have you never read, "'From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise'?"

21:17 And he left them and went out of the city to Bethany, where he spent the night.

21:18 Early in the morning, as he was on his way back to the city, he was hungry.

21:19 Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, "May you never bear fruit again!" Immediately the tree withered.

21:20 When the disciples saw this, they were amazed. "How did the fig tree wither so quickly?" they asked.

21:21 Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and it will be done.

21:22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."

21:23 Jesus entered the temple courts, and, while he was teaching, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him. "By what authority are you doing these things?" they asked. "And who gave you this authority?"

21:24 Jesus replied, "I will also ask you one question. If you answer me, I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things.

21:25 John's baptism--where did it come from? Was it from heaven, or from men?" They discussed it among themselves and said, "If we say, 'From heaven,' he will ask, 'Then why didn't you believe him?'

21:26 But if we say, 'From men'--we are afraid of the people, for they all hold that John was a prophet."

21:27 So they answered Jesus, "We don't know." Then he said, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.

21:28 "What do you think? There was a man who had two sons. He went to the first and said, 'Son, go and work today in the vineyard.'

21:29 "'I will not,' he answered, but later he changed his mind and went.

21:30 "Then the father went to the other son and said the same thing. He answered, 'I will, sir,' but he did not go.

21:31 "Which of the two did what his father wanted?" "The first," they answered. Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you.

21:32 For John came to you to show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him.

21:33 "Listen to another parable: There was a landowner who planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a winepress in it and built a watchtower. Then he rented the vineyard to some farmers and went away on a journey.

21:34 When the harvest time approached, he sent his servants to the tenants to collect his fruit.

21:35 "The tenants seized his servants; they beat one, killed another, and stoned a third.

21:36 Then he sent other servants to them, more than the first time, and the tenants treated them the same way.

21:37 Last of all, he sent his son to them. 'They will respect my son,' he said.

21:38 "But when the tenants saw the son, they said to each other, 'This is the heir. Come, let's kill him and take his inheritance.'

21:39 So they took him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.

21:40 "Therefore, when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those tenants?"

21:41 "He will bring those wretches to a wretched end," they replied, "and he will rent the vineyard to other tenants, who will give him his share of the crop at harvest time."

21:42 Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the Scriptures: "'The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes'?

21:43 "Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit.

21:44 He who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but he on whom it falls will be crushed."

21:45 When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard Jesus' parables, they knew he was talking about them.

21:46 They looked for a way to arrest him, but they were afraid of the crowd because the people held that he was a prophet.
